QuoteIf Evan is done with ball, I wish him all the best.   He was a tough and talented runner that did take a bunch of hits in his time.  Inside running backs can sometimes have shorter careers.

Ditto...inside runner, outside runner. Punter. Whatever your position. When you lace it up for the last time,it's the end of a special experience. All the best to Evan for future success...which I am sure will be plentiful.

Hows the turf looking in Woo-town... updated pics? Any more updates or news from the squad this year? It's hard to believe that in less than 4 weeks we will be watching full contact scrimmages. ;D

The script "Scots" logo is now at midfield (as of late last week), and I believe that the work on the field itself is nearly finished.  I'm not certain whether renovations to the track are upcoming.  The area between the ticket kiosks and the entrance to the stands is a torn-up mess at the moment, so I suppose something is being done there, as well.

the turf is about done, they put the last of the rubber into the "grass" today, it will be finished by the end of the week. The track will be re-painted and have a new top placed over it, I'm not sure exactly what that entails but it will be refinished. The torn up mess you're referring to is just installation of drainage pipes. Along with the stands themselves getting a fresh coat of paint, the Papp's gonna be looking good come season time. 16 days till players report!

Thanks for the update.  There are a lot of us looking forward to seeing this offense, with Holter behind all of you veteran big guys up front.  Even with inexperienced running backs, there should be some nice holes to run through.

Nice to hear from all the Woo faithful! It's gonna be a fun year ;D

Went out to St. Louis this weekend and trash talked with my Wash U. grad, brother in law.

Should be a fun afternoon in C-ville October 10.

Pigskin is almost upon us!!!!!

Aueagle,

Are you a Delaware, Ohio guy?  I'm a retired Delaware guy, and OWU fan, and have followed this site for several years and you seem to have your finger on the OWU pulse.  I really enjoy following the OWU team but there seems to be even less info. on this year's team then the little bit that has surfaced in the past so I have a question for about the future 2010 team.  My question for you is: Do you know a local HS senior named Erik Wall who's brother Mark played for the Bishops and just graduated in 2009?  I ask because I follow the local HS scene in Delaware County and love to follow the kids careers in college and I was told by my grandson that Erik is getting football looks from several D-1AA schools (He plays QB at Buckeye Valley Class of 2010) but also has received written interest from Wabash.  I  assumed he would follow his brother Mark to OWU but can't think of a better school then Wabash if it's not going to be at OWU.  My grandson said he's a good student so grades wouldn't be a problem and I guess he really wants to consider academics first and opportunity to play second, regardless of the NCAA Div. size.  He has a profile on scoutingohio.com you can review and I would be interested in your opinion of him as a future Bishop.......or Little Giant.

I heard today from someone inside Wooster's athletic department that Earlham leaving the NCAC is a done deal.  I suppose that the interim executive director will begin the discussion of whether to try to bring in DePauw, Washington & Jefferson, another college, or just to keep the league at 9 schools for now.

Is there anything about bringing in DePauw that doesn't make sense for everybody involved?  Anything at all?

Yes, TRAVEL!!! W&J is a much better fit for ALL but 2 of the NCAC schools from a Travel stand point.  Wabash and Wittenburg and Greencastle is only 23 minutes closer to Springfield than Washington Pa.

I'm not seeing how W&J moving to the NCAC helps them very much.  It would cost them more to participate in the NCAC for sure.  They'd have the benefit of being grouped with schools that have a slightly higher academic rep, sure, but being grouped with the PAC isn't exactly slumming it.  Seems to me that there is less incentive for W&J to move than there is for DePauw to move.

A valid point, particularly for gridiron, but what would be a net effect utilizing the "TRAVEL" partner concept for other sports?  What of staggering trips to C'ville and Greendingle in alternate years (ie. perhaps no football team does two, Indiana pilgrimmages in one season)?  Might this also be a beneficial consequence for the UAA agreement with respect to Wash StL and Chicago, logistically.  Thinking about other sports, the 30 minute span would certainly make baseball, basketball, swimming, and tennis travel schedules less arduous than a one-stop, roadtrip for NCAC members.   :)

And go where? This perplexes me.
