Ypsi, BB16, Smed,

Just got back in town.  Been up amongst the Irish in northern Indiana.  Thanks for the info.  I didn't realize offense pass interference was a loss of down, or does it have to do with the illegal player.  Thanks again.  As always.

In HS offensive PI is a loss of down, according to my ref source.

The illegal formation is just the cause of the pass interference.

When I was in the Wooster band, we were called for several unsportmanlike conduct penalties.  I don't recall any specific examples of us playing (in an organized fashion) during live play, except we would play the school fight song on low volume during an extra point attempt and would play the "Jaws" theme on kickoffs; we were never penalized for these "offenses."  Our penaltes tended to be for honest-to-goodness unsportsmanlike conduct.  We were good at that.   ::)  In those days of yore, the band had its own bleacher section on the far side of the field, at about the 30 yard line closest to Lowry.  Whenever play was in our part of the field, we found it quite easy to disrupt play.  Unfortunately, it seemed that the visiting team wasn't as easily bothered as were the refs!  ;D

Smed,

Thanks again.  I guess I haven't seen that call.  Appreciate all the info.  As always.

David, that's awesome (although the coach probably wouldn't agree).  I know in our day we led (and created) several cheers that were probably slightly unfriendly to the zebras.  Can't recall any penalties, but since they were blind, they may have been deaf as well!

That's really all you need to know, isn't it?

If you just took a quick glance at Wabash's schedule and results football page and didn't know any better, you would think Wabash is 2-2, having lost to Kalamazoo 46-6 and Earlham 50-2.

On the OWU-Allegheny game, I just have a strong feeling that Allegheny wins this game, and by at least 10 points. Both teams are desperate, but no one is more desperate than Allegheny. A program with a strong tradition is facing 0-5 in the face, with two more "losable" games still on the schedule. This team has a lot of seniors, especially on defense, and should be catching OWU a little bit wounded. While Allegheny's defense is the not the best in the NCAC, as stated by the Meadville Tribune writer this summer, it at least looked decent against the run against Wooster. That should be enough to lead them to victory.

Smeds:

Just noticed Pat Coleman's cute comeback to you on the SCAC board regarding the Wabash slogan.  Remember... he's a "neutral observer." :D

Still blows my mind that anyone would think that "Wabash Always Fights!,"  a rallying cry that says "we will never give up," implies anything negative about another team--even the Dannies have adopted a similar phrase as their slogan.

Hard-hitting, but safe play for all in the NCAC this weekend.

Teaching them to play the Oberlin way...this is a code red situation, folks.  Somebody stop him!  :)

I believe the scores are listed in the vistor's score - home score format as opposed to the Wabash-opponent format.  I agree that the latter would be more intuitive to the casual surfer.

Bash Dad -

I took as a compliment and as a lighthearted interjection into a tense conversation.

So lighten up a bit! Mmmmm...kay!

The Trinity "the world is against us" attitude you complained of, Smeds, is apparantly contagious. Quit hanging out over in the SCAC board before you bring us back something incurable.  :D

With only ONE conference game played, I think it is alittle premature to say that the Gators or the Bishops are DESPERATE either before OR after this Saturday's game. There is a lot of football yet to be played. GO BISHOPS

aueagle,

Do you really think the conference champ is going to have two conference losses? That is pretty unlikely, especially for OWU, who still has to got to Witt (can you say revenge from last year) and Wooster to end the year. If these two teams aren't desperate, then they really aren't in the race at all then.
