Given Earlham's political desire to move toward mediocrity in athletics in a conference without an academic prime focus and delude itself that this will somehow help in student recruiting and save money .... how about we swap for Rose ... who does a nice job athletically as well as scholastically ... thereby improving both gene pools.

On a different subject ... it appears from the 2-deep chart that Wabash has some breakthroughs in the Freshman class.  What is the general feeling about the overall strength of the Freshmen?  Any others who would/might make the 2 1/2 - deep chart (Read:  someone we should look for on Saturday)?

It's pretty clear that freshmen are going to get time at running back.  Any one of those guys that step up will be on the field a lot this year.  I thought Austin Hodges (small kid, fast...reminds me of Bronaugh a little bit) looked good in the Red/White.  I wouldn't mind seeing him.  Armbruster from Mater Dei strikes me as a kid who would do well on special teams right now (tough to crack that LB rotation)...he looks like a kid who can blow up a wedge.  TE Devin Kelley is technically a sophomore but he didn't get to play last year.  I think he'll have some impact as well.  And one more freshman that could/should see some time is CB Kyle Bottos.  I was very impressed with him at the R/W scrimmage.

Assuming that Earlham moves to the HCAC, I suppose that their NCAC opponents will be looking for an additional early-season non-conference game for 2010-2011.  For example, Wooster is scheduled to host Earlham in week 9 next season, and it would seem difficult to find a nearby opponent with an open date in that week, so filling in their open date in week 4 seems more realistic.

Is it possible that Earlham would be replaced with another conference game, since the NCAC doesn't currently play a complete conference schedule?  Could the schedules be re-worked for this scenario for 2010?  Or is it just easier to play an 6 game conference schedule with 4 non-conference opponents (assuming Earlham isn't replaced)?

I would hope that the league plans to keep a 7 game league schedule for everybody.  If not, and we wind up with some teams playing six games and some teams playing seven games, the potential for messy end of the year standings goes way, way up.  This was the case in 2003 when Kenyon suddenly opted out of their NCAC schedule.  Two teams played seven games, the rest played just six.  Conflict was avoided when Allegheny ran the table in the league, but could you imagine the nightmare if one team goes 7-0 and another goes 6-0?  Or 6-1 vs. 5-1?  I have to believe that there is enough notice that Earlham is bailing out that the league could rework the schedules and keep everybody playing the same number of games.

Game central for Denison @ Wabash.

Audio, video, live stats, and a running tweet stream.  Think that's going to be enough coverage?

In addition to all of this fancy, official College media, I'll be tweeting from the game with observations from the Hollett...and I may try to pick a twitter fight with some D-list celeb.  You hear me, Heidi Montag?  It's on.

Just realized I can view the live stats from my phone while sitting at the game.  Man, these phones have changed the game/race day experience!

Thanks DPU.... (Beer 3 down  ;))

Watching the pre-coverage...... I still vote for the Metallica pre-game at UWW over the Gunsmoke theme at Hollett today.... (Not exactly the music I would pick to get my team ready to hit someone) Not complaining, just sayin.

Thanks again Wabash and Hometown TV for the gift of site!

Have the new laptop hooked up to the TV, the traditional pre-game breakfast tacos and we're ready to go.

Thanks for the well-wishes D3_DPUFan.

Let's get this party started!

How awesome is it to be able to watch this game over the computer?  Of course, as soon as I turned it on, Hudson threw an interception, but the D had his back.  Go Little Giants!
