This week's Wabash press release just came out.  A Mr. Kessler Armbruster emerges on the 2-deep  (dig it) this week - should be fun to see if he can make an early impact.  Hopefully CJ can get back though.  I am hopeful some of the other guys can get back too in the D-backfield...Schweigel, Wood, etc.

How crazy is that that Lafitte is back with Coach Ward, pretty cool.  I read in the USA Today that McPherson is ranked #19 in NAIA.

Does anyone know if U. Chicago has visitor stands?  My guess is that it will be a big Wabash following...

Capacity at Amos Alonzo Stagg Field is listed at only 1,650 so I'm guessing that this is a single sided grandstand situation.  Think there will be enough Wabash fans there to turn this thing into an SRO event?

Good to see Armbruster making the trip...I've been hearing that this kid is blowing dudes up in practice.  I'd like to see him start cracking on somebody in a different uni for a change.   :)

The Google image of the stadium makes it appear to be about 10 rows of seats from 20 to 20, and then some small add-on sets of bleachers at each 10 yard line.  If these are the visitor's bleachers, we better get their early.  I would reckon that the setup is similar to Wash U's stadium last year.  It looks like they averaged about 1100 for games last year, so if the seating capacity is correct, we should be okay.  Single-side bleachers are becoming the norm.  I guess it's a cost thing, but I don't care for it.

Parks is 6-0 226, basically a chunk..... hit him low gentlemen........ shoulder tackles won't do it.

it is great to see Armbruster making the trip.  He is from a rediculous High School program that I used to watch play frequently when I lived out there..... (USC Trojans starting freshman QB....was Armbruster's High School QB last year. That is a bigtime program)

I am not a fan of all the seating being on one side, but it's really not that important. Just can't wait for the game. Lots of family and friends going and also know a couple of Wes's high school team mates playing on the other side.

Should be alot of fun. I hope we continue to hit on all cylinders. No reason to think that we won't. See all you faithful at the game! ;D

i gotta disagree with bashdad.  i think stands on both sides is important.  i know that in my career there were many times when i would feed off the crowd for a couple plays to give me that adrenaline high.  its not a huge deal, but still important.

This is a cool promotion...hopefully the Bishops get good support for this on Saturday from everybody who makes it over to Selby.

Witt and Case have the single side bleachers and other then the issue of fans being mixed, it just doesn't seem right.  I think ever since junior football, I never played in a field/stadium at any level that didn't have stands/fans behind the teams on both sides....

Can you imagine a Bell Game where everyone was together on one side....  ;D

dk #11 and others:

We had a few games during my time at Wabash where there were no visitor bleachers and it was strange indeed.  However, there is nothing more inspiring to a visiting team IMHO to look across the field and see and hear the fan support coming from across the field and even sometimes outcheering the home fans.

And I can give even a worse case.  In 1977 we played at Hope's old stadium.  First of all there was a complete downpour during warmups.  Second the home stands had a roof.  The visitors side had bleachers, no roof and a smaller section of bleachers on the visitors side was specifically reserved for Hope fans...including a few of their cheerleaders.

Best case, though, was the game at Oberlin my senior year.  No bleachers on the visitors side but Oberlin had an all girl chain gang and they were all wearing short shorts.  Maybe they thought we would be distracted.  We might have been...we only won 42-0 against a team that only had around 35-40 players.  I remember asking if we could play here every year!

Will Wooster bounce back with a convincing win this week, or did that shootout with Waynesburg stun the Scots? I think the offense has enough fire power to keep them in any game, just hope the defense can come together. According to the game preview, there have been a few changes on the defensive side of the ball.

U of Chicago's field looks to have stands on one side.  Looks like a nice field though, turf or field turf.

The campus looks very cool from the air....

I believe Armbruster was held out of last weeks game due to some sort of NCAA rule limiting a player to playing in 10 regular season games, and Rewd Squad games count as well as varsity games, as I understand it.   ... Armbruster was to be and was a monster (ask the wienies from DePauw) in the Red Squad game against DePauw.   ... Wabash has a goodly group of qualified LBs, Armbruster was not needed for the Denison game, he was a factor against DePauw(and the coaches knew and wanted him to play the whole game and get experience against what was believed would be a better offense - DePauw JV -  than a 4th quarter offense of Denison).  I may be wrong in what I understand.  If so, please correct me.

There is method here.  Now Armbruster will play against Chicago and on and on.  Again, as I understand it.  Oh yeah, the NCAA rule makers.

As to the Chicago stands, I believe the 20 to 20 yard line stands are for the Wabash fans.  Those for Chicago should congregate on the 10 yard line wooden splinter stands.  Lets get there early and make it so !

It is indeed a very cool campus. If you move the map 4 blocks straight north and 1 block East you can see President Obama's house at 51st and Greenwood (across from KAM Temple). The satellite images must have been taken before he became the Democratic nominee at the convention and after he announced his candidacy based on the level of security at his house. (you can see an unmarked secret service car blocking his driveway--now his whole street is blocked and security is much tighter).

You can also see just to the west of Stagg  field a large open park (Washington Park). This is the proposed site of the Olympic Stadium and swimming venue for the 2016 Olympic bid put forth by Chicago.
