Some post-game comments on Wabash yesterday:

- a very nice crowd of 5,000 on what turned out to be great weather for football
- knock on wood but no significant injuries to note.  We actually got some guys back yesterday that should be major contributors in the upcoming stretch - CJ Gum was back and looked great alongside Watson and Kraft.  He plays very physical and can close on the ball in a hurry.  When we go to 4 LB's and Pannell is on the field...I really like our speed on the outside.  It reminds me of the days of Josh Foster.  Ramsey was back and should be effective opposite of Whyde.  Walters got some touches yesterday at RB and could be a nice compliment to Mambourg with a bigger frame.
- Horn and Young both get overshadowed by Chamblee and Lemond but both are extremely talented WR's.  Horn can create some mismatches with his size (6'3").
- Everyone pounces on our kicking game when we can't make extra points or field goals but when we have become consistent in this area, not a word.  Spencer Whitehead has been automatic and this includes some excellent kickoffs as well.  Pannell and Kraft are fun to watch on KO coverage.
- I hope we start to limit our substitutions on the D front at DT
- Hudson's ball this year seems to have more zip

Good wrap up on the game, 16.  A couple of other things to mention and then we can put the Kenyon game to bed..

- I liked the way the defense played.  Kenyon's offense really couldn't get much of anything going against the 1s on defense.  Aside from the big bomb in the first quarter, Kenyon didn't do too much with the ball.  And credit to Kenyon on that bomb...they got von Kann in man coverage on the outside, recognized it and he ran right by the corner.  It was a good play.

- You're spot on about the kicking game.  Whitehead is due some credit.  Perfect through three games on all of his kicks.  I hope Wabash doesn't need a FG to win a game, but if it comes to that I think we can feel pretty good about our chances.

The competition level gets ramped up a notch this weekend at Allegheny.  Think the Gators will be a little less lippy before the game this time around?  :)

As mentioned in the Wabash weekly press release.

http://www.wabash.edu/sports/docs/ReleaseSept302009.pdf

A win this Saturday for the Little Giants would be their 600th in the program's history. Quite an accomplishment.

The trip to Meadville has proven to be a tough one over the years, here's to the LG's safe travel and playing Wabash College Football on Saturday.

Bashbro,

That is very cool, thanks for sharing the all time wins list.

Off the topic for a minute, this year's Monon Bell Stag will be held at the downtown Marriott in Indianapolis on the Thursday night (November 12) before the game.  I am excited to report that we may have the best matchup EVER in roasters for the event.  Representing Wabash will be a guy named Jake Knott.  Representing DePauw will be a guy named Gerry Dick (as in Spud's dad).  It should make for a great night and I would bet these two will pull out some really, really good material.  Dick vs. Knott...Knott vs. Dick.  I would encourage you guys to attend if you can add that night in on the weekend...

I don't know much about Allegheny aside from their QB being a dual threat guy and an experienced player.  Wabash will have to play well for sure.

I'll be at Allegheny on Saturday. Hoping for an interesting game.

Any Wabash fans taking a detour through Alliance, Ohio, for a night game on the way back to Indiana?

Pat

I think you will see two well schooled teams.  I have always liked the work ethic of the Gheny players and coaches.  Good tough PA guys.  While I believe Wabash will win, I am not thinking it will be easy or by a large score difference.  Gheny always plays us very hard at home and this is an opportunity for creds.  They have a nice field now, and the game will not turn on the luck of the mud.  I know our guys will come ready and with respect for Gheny and what they can do.  I expect no less out of Gheny.

So ... this Saturday ... Little GIants:  get out there in the morning and participate in WABASH DAY community support events in your community in the morning and then get to the computer for the telecast (unless, of course you are lucky enough to be abgle to attend the game).

Interesting or otherwise, I hope the LGs play better than the last time you saw them.  :)

No Wabash game for me this weekend...I've got guys coming to put down some new carpet in the apartment Saturday morning.  Hopefully they'll be finished and out of the way by kickoff.

Nice little article from the Hammond Times on some boys from Da Region trying to help Wabash get their 600th on Saturday.

Free admission to OWU game today...Bring a "Pet Item" for The Humane Society of Delaware County....
"It had a positive impact on increasing the size of our crowds and the enthusiasm at our events, which in turn makes for a more positive experience for our student-athletes," OWU AD Ingles said.
I am all for marketing the Bishops in this positive manner, BUT, a winning program will put enthusiastic people in the stands AND you can charge admission too.
Bishops usually win the 4th game of the year.....

Good luck to all NCAC teams today...

I sure hope I can get the Gheny lives stats working today.   Usually, either they are not doing them or something is up with my computer.

For those looking to see some video of other D3 games...

Rough start for Wabash offensively.  Hudson fumbled on the first drive, the second drive got stopped in the red area and a 32 yard FG attempt was missed.  It's still 0-0 in Meadville.  Gators have a third down coming at their own 34.

Hudson INT.  Scratch the "rough" start comment.  This is an awful start for the LGs today.  The defense is playing well though.  Keep it going hard hats.

Chamblee returns a punt for TD.  Hopefully that's the spark.  7-0 LGs.
