Holding Wittenberg to 10 points is resilience.

Not to mention that final offensive drive to tie the game in a real pressure-cooker situation, including a conversion of a 4th and long.  I would not be too down on this offense, and you have to give a lot of credit to the Witt defense.

Well, we all take from it what one will.  In resilience I perhaps used the wrong term.  I meant to describe a situation whereby we found a way to make it happen.  Yes, the drive fit that description.  But the following lapse on the return didn't.  And I stand by my feelings on teh Wittenberg defense.  I honestly think Matt would have had a better time with it than either of our QBs did on Saturday.  His being 6'6" really helps survey the field.  Belton and Miracle appeared to be having trouble seeing over/around our big linemen.  Would have been funny except for the outcome.   Had a chance to talk to Nick Crnkovich while at the game as well...

Our defense was solid like I said.  And as far as the frustration goes, it wasn't the kind one likes to see.  You could tell by the way Chamblee and LeMond were axcting that they knew they were getting the looks they wanted but the ball wasn't getting there.

I have been accused by others of being a homer, but then others seem to take my observations as a 'Bash bashing when that wasn't my intent.  Don't mistake what I am saying as being negative but my own personal observations.  I much prefer our attitudes and abilities to the days orf yore, no matter how storied.  I remember the let down of not making the playoffs in 1982 extremely well.

I don't think I've seen a Wabash qb yet look awesome in his first career start.  It just doesn't happen.  In that game against that defense, Miracle played a pretty damn good ball game.  Perfect?  Not at all.  But pretty good.  Miracle outplayed Witt's fifth year senior QB in the game...I don't think any of us could have realistically asked for much more from Miracle.

I ran my mouth more in the week leading up to the Witt game, than I have in the entire 2+ years I have been on this board. That being said, I can't go back to lurking with out commenting on the games outcome.

To say that I am disappointed would be an understatement, but I am certainly not disappointed in our players efforts.  I am a little bothered by some of the mistakes that we made, but not by our players heart. I am disappointed that we did not win, but we never quit. We need to work hard, as I know we will, to get ready for Wooster and play one game at a time.

I am very proud of our Players and our Coaches, they gave it their best shot.

I'll climb back in to my lurking hole now...

Wally, I suppose you are right.  Guess I get spoiled by the way the offense has played.  Miracle is a good runner, too, and I think perhaps we should have used that a little more.  That said, does anyone know about Mr. Hudson as far as a timeline for recovery goes?  No one was willing to say much at the game on Saturday.

Bash-Dad-  I lurk a lot, too.  But, don't be shy when you have something to say!!

Let's look for a big game all around from Wabash at Wooster!!  WAF!

We are all disappointed in the loss..... We have grown accustomed to winning and especially during the regular season.

Fact is, from my vantage point, this was a gutsy team effort against a very good Wittenberg team.   We knew coming into this year, that they would be very tough...

To lose on a last second field goal without the NCAC Offensive player of the year under center.... is a small victory in my eyes... Yes, I know..... we lost, and it sucks, but most of you will get my point.  We had a shot at winning the game and had we made the one more big play ....this conversation would be much different.

Expectations are great and should be raised from year to year....but we must also give credit where credit is due.   The Wabash players that left it all out on the field and came up a bit short.

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

The news on Hudson continues to be less than optimistic.  The latest to appear in the local papers today says he also has a cracked rib.  The estimate is that it will take 6 to 8 weeks to heal.  Hudson refuses to say his season is over.  He is determined to play again this season.

Just ran across this information today.  The Buffalo Bills selected a 50th anniversary all-time team and Pete Metzelaars was selected as the tight end.  The ceremony was held during the Bill's home opener back in September.  Don't remember any earlier mention of it here, but if someone did make an earlier post my apologies to you.

Sad to hear LG Historian's assessment on Hudson, and prayers for a speedy recovery. The woulda-what ifs' time has passed and focus should shift to Wooster.

Personal "pollyanna" syndrome hopes for a week 1- week 2 curve mid-season, increased comfort levels on the "O" side with Miracle and/or Belton at the controls, "D" with the confident swagger, and the WAF spirit and attitude to grace the new carpet at Papp on Saturday!  ;)

How about CJ Gum's effort on Saturday?  I don't believe he had one practice last week due to the flu and he was all over the field Saturday.

LGhistorian - great insight man.

This is very cool...

I caught the first half of the red squad game today, so I thought I'd pitch in some notes since we don't get many field reports from these games.

I was a little distracted because I was trying to watch my cousin playing in the game, so I didn't get the best notes.

BUT

#34 Derek Rowe - total beast in open space - had a 50 or 60 yard TD run in which he had a couple of really nice moves and ran through the heart of the Grizzly secondary

Wide receivers - got open, but dropped a lot of balls (but they WERE getting open)

O-Line - inconsistent, as you might expect

Dan Ambrosio - this was his first red squad start from what I gather (it had been Chase Belton) and he looked a little tentative, but he wasn't getting great protection.

Their QB was quite good and threw a really nice ball.  They had a lot of drops as well.

Overall, the Franklin squad looked a little bit bigger/faster/stronger - I honestly wondered if their kids might have been more sophs/juniors to our frosh/sophs, but that's just my guess.  The game was 8-7 Franklin when I left, but it seemed like they were generally outplaying us.

Also, the Franklin announcer was very funny and played some humorous songs (including Cartman's take on I'm Sailing Away), but I found it to be a little disrespectful to the kids playing their hearts out on the field, even if I did laugh at his promise of a Mike Tirico halftime update featuring "JV scores from around the nation."

fijidoc

do you remember the name of the QB for Franklin that played?
