And the winner gets to go to Whitewater!  Hooray!

How many points do you give Lakeland against Whitewater - 63?  70?

First things first - tough roadie coming up Saturday.  Let's hope for some carryover effect from the second half yesterday.

Mr. Ypsi

One unknown (to me, at least) in planning for the Titans is the status of qb Kraig Ladd.  The injury is to his non-throwing arm, but he did not play at all on Saturday (against NPU, there was certainly no need to risk further injury).  Back-up qb Brien Rooney is a much more dangerous runner, but Ladd can kill teams with his arm.  Very different offenses to prepare for depending on who is available.

To return the scouting reports, am I correctly remembering that Wabash is very strong against the run, but rather vulnerable through the air?

So what's known about IWU besides winning the tough CCIW?

Ask Mr. Ypsi.  He is an alum and obviously follows IWU.  He is also a veteran contributor here on the various boards.  I'm sure he will "chime in" this week, and more likely very soon, with his commentary/discussion and contributions to the board for this week's upcoming playoff match. ;)

Oops!  I guess I did see that, my friend.  Actually, I don't need to work on my "reading skills" but rather my skills in taking the time to check out what the boards more closely before posting instead of "flying around" and trying to post too quickly.  Then again, I guess the latter is perhaps a result of my wife complaining I spend too much time on these boards so I'm trying to minimize that.  ;)  Yet, I do remind her she should be glad I'm on here and not engaging in some totally miscreant activities, etc., etc.  ;D :o ;)

Anyway, good luck to your alma mater IWU in the playoffs Ypsi.  I guess I have to root for them since they beat us this year!

I am guessing that we won't hang anymore than, oh.........40-50ish or so on them as it will be a good chance to sit the starters as soon as possible although our 2nds and 3rds could also have their way with the Muskies.   ;)

Tough draw for the winner of your game as they will have to spend the 2nd week at the Perk but I am pulling for the Little Giants.  You guys are a force to be reckoned with in the parking lot and we would love to host you again this year. Had a great time with your fans in 07!   Hopefully, there won't be a blizzard to drive home in again this time.  :)

you gotta like the idea that ncac has enough strength to get 2 teams in.
every league has weaker teams at the bottom, hence the name(bottom.)
but i don't want to be in a league where there is not enough challenge to prepare for the playoffs.
i like having three seasons of wabash football.
regular season, bell season, and playoff season!!!

While getting two teams in is important, they need to make some noise and command even more attention.

Wes -

You need to find someone who DVR'd the game and watch it again or for a third time.

I watched it last night twice and I don't believe anyone who watches Matt Hudson's effort in the 2nd half, could say he was not effective or as you put it "I didn't necessarily feel like Matt Hudson gave a great effort"

Come on Wes.

The mistakes  -  The throw out of the endzone by Spud, was a fantastic defensive play by a good linebacker and Spud should never have thrown the ball. (period)  The early INT, was a play that was pure and simple a great play by Matt Kraft who is a freak of an athlete.

Fact of the matter is that Depauw's offense is very strong and methodical.  Spud has great vision and will find the open receiver if you do not get pressure on him.

Watch the film back and see how wide open your receivers were all day. Not from particularly good moves or the greatest routes in the world.  Spud simply had our defensive backfield off balance.  (Something Wabash better get a handle on before Saturday)

Then to bring in the theory that Spud may have been hurt in the 2nd half.  Come on Wes...you are better then that.  You lost a game.... Wabash made more plays and I believe in the end wanted it more.

Watch the game again, I believe you will change your tune a bit.

Good Luck to Depauw in the playoffs.  Your draw could've been a lot worse.

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

i agree bashbrother!
wes is better than that, usually.
my earlier post on bell thread:
wes,
maybe you need a few more moments to compose yourself.
you are usually more fair.
dpu did not give the game/bell away!
bash came and took it away!
that 3rd quarter could happen even if halftime score was 14-0. or 21-0!
do you think bash (WAF) was gonna give up at halftime?
how many bell games have you seen where either side gave up at halftime?
as much as "i hate them stinkin' dannies",
i could say in the 25 (or so) bell games i have seen i could never even accuse them of that!!
many bell games turn on a play (or several), do you want haverkamp's kick back?!?

For those interested, you're invited to participate in the OAC Playoff Pick-Em Contest.   Whether you joined us in the regular season or not, your welcome to join for the playoffs.

Spreads for Round 1 have been posted in the General Page.

Any team that wins the CCIW demands my respect.

However, IWU should now be so-so in hoops since their football team went to the playoffs, right? (Hah...)

That, sir, is a canard! >:(  As formerd3db could inform you, I saw IWU @ Hope just last year.  He and I met and chatted at halftime.

But I do confess that was my first (live) viewing of the Titan football team since 1969! :o :-[

No.  I won't.  I could watch it another 100 times and that's what I think.  Sorry.  He made some very good throws at times yesterday, but he still left a lot out there.  He missed a few of those deep balls, and he bounced a couple to open receivers.  He played good enough to win the game and he didn't lose it for you like he did last year.  That's really all you need.  You're missing my point, which is Wabash won the game comfortably despite not getting a heroic "everybody jump on my back" type effort from him.  Most of the week that's what I thought Wabash would need to win.  They didn't.  Completely dominated DePauw in all 3 phases for the last 30 minutes.

Yes, the Spud thing is a theory.  He didn't throw the ball nearly as well in the second half.  Watch the hit again.  He gets crunched.  I'm not making excuses.  Spud didn't have a lot to do with winning or losing the football game.  As I said earlier, when you miss assignments and then pair it with missing tackles, I don't care who you play, you're going to give up some big numbers.  DePauw certainly did in the second half.

EDIT: And, for clarity's sake, I'm not blaming the INT on the injury.  That was a bad decision all the way around.  The ball was wobbly in the second half.  He had a hard time getting the right amount of touch on the football.  It's OK when you're hitting open receivers, but a lot of those tight throws he usually completes were off in the second half.  Maybe he was fine and I'm full of baloney.  He just didn't seem like it to me.
