The big loser in this seems to be Dallas Cowboy owner Jerry Jones who had the Big XII title game locked into Cowboy Stadium.

Somehow I get the feeling that Jerruh will land on his feet.

Has there been any speculation about adding Cincinnati, Louisville, or Memphis?

The Big East was driven by hoops, so Cincy and Louisville may not go. Memphis? They also have a fairly unsavory rep and may go down hard thanks to Calipari.

Memphis also has the benefit of a metric buttload of FedEx cash it is willing to throw at a BCS conference willing to take them on. FedEx's CEO's son is the QB there. Officially FedEx has denied it but how can they admit it?
If you break the Big XII conference into north/south, then OU/OSU. KU/KSU. MO/ISU can go north.

You have UT/AM&, TT/BU and then Memphis and Houston or TCU in the south.

I think those scenarios are all academic because Mack Brown and Bob Stoops don't want a championship game. Both Texas ('01 to Colorado) and Oklahoma ('03 to K-State) have lost the title game when heavily favored and blew a chance at a BCS Bowl.

When the game was first proposed the Big 12 coaches voted and it was 12-0 opposed to the game. None of them like it. It's just one more chance to play their way out of the BCS. I doubt they'll go back to it.

Administrators and ADs love the $$ though.

However, it is funny that the conference championship games act much like some of the lower-to-mid major basketball conference tournaments. A team could have an excellent season but be robbed of the NCAA tourney by one slip to an inferior team. Aw, shucks...

I heard on the local sports today that the contract for the UT-OU game at the Cotton Bowl during the State Fair of Texas (in mid October) is up about 2014.

Jerry Jones wants to move the game to Cowboy Stadium on the weekend on which the other conferences are holding their Championship game.  Not necessarily a conference championship game, but it does hold big interest for the bowls.

It'll never replace those old Nebraska-Oklahoma games on Thanksgiving Day, especially when they stated at 11:00AM Central time. ;)
Same as it ever was...same as it ever was...same as it ever was...

Nebraska-Iowa should turn it a great rival game. I guess the corn folks could play the sooners in a non-conf game to continue some of their history or maybe they want colorado instead. I've read texas wants to return the OU game to campus but ou and the local pols aren't up with the idea. Maybe a nebraska-OU football series could take place annually at jerry jones stadium to give each school the texas presence and than move the ou-texas series back to campus. I could also see the big 12 move the Oklahoma school's to the north division and bring in two new members, so you could have a OU-texas big 12 championship game in dallas.

Focus...

The door to Coach Raeburn's office in the Allen Athletics Center.  His focus is clearly on the upcoming season and in particular the Wooster game.  Every picture, save one is of the last Wabash-Wooster game.

Bottom picture is the story-teller.  One challenge is replacing those big guys up front.

Every new season has it's challenges. I am so excited to see how Coach R approaches them. I don't think he will have to rebuild the "O" line, just reload. There are players waiting for their turn to step up. New leaders, waiting for their turn to lead. New field turf, new starters, new season. I don't want to wish the summer away, but I just can't wait! 8-)

I don't recall your biography, but would I be correct in guessing that your son is an O-line about to step up?! ;D

Bash-Dad #84

No, actually my son is one of the little guy's, but I have been watching some of the big ones maturing for the past couple of years. I am confident that they will step in to fill big shoes! :)

Coach Raeburn has a great model to use for continued success at Wabash. I for one am not surprized. Heidelberg's program while not at Wabash's level yet is making fine progress under Coach Hallet(sp) using the same model.  :)
