Okay. Who in the devil smote that last post?

It'll be interesting to see how far Witt rises in the first 8 weeks of the season. We could see them in the top 5 by the time Wabash gets over to Springfield.

As I think we all would agree, the pre season polls are quite meaningless...but here's hoping that both DePauw and Wabash work their respective ways up leading into the second week in November... ;)

+ K for using the word Smote.  ;)

It shall be interesting.  About a month and a half before teams report.

(P.S. I got smote and I haven't posted anything in about a week.)

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

At times, situational assessment gleaned from "professional expertise" is unappreciated.  Inexplicably smitten (down 3, overnight  :o @ WIAC board - now deleted) for a drug test/ analysis post, intelligently written.  ::)  Chalked up the silent thrashing to subjective, "societal knowledge and selective opinion" of broached topic.   ;D  "Don't mean nuthin'" in the grand scheme.  ;)

Cave -

I will be chasing the triple crown in the Upper Davidson next week, along with hitting the big browns in the lower section.   When are you heading over the pond?

Come up and have a beer.

So who does everyone think right now- Witt or Wabash

smedindy

Witt has the crown and the Witt / Bash game at Witt. That makes them the favorite on paper.

Gheny is third, and then the rest...

Witt is the team to beat in the NCAC this fall, but can Wabash change that when they play them at Springfield? :-\

I am still pulling for Wabash to win the NCAC this fall. Maybe both team will be undefeated before they meet on Nov. 6th!

They probably should be.  Each team plays eight games before the big game in Springfield.  Of those 16 games, most are games these teams really can't lose.  The exceptions:

9/11/10, Wooster @ Wabash - Noted here really only because this is game 2 for Scots and game 1 for Wabash...an advantage that veteran readers of this board know that I think is a really big deal.  Wabash could get caught here if the offense is sloppy (read: TOs).

9/25/10, Witt @ Allegheny - The Gators did go 8-2 last year.  There was a lot of gap between Allegheny and Witt/Wabash last year as evidenced by the outcomes of those games, but if any team in the league is going to catch the top two it would be Allegheny this year.

10/30/10, Allegheny @ Wabash - See above, but the exception is that Wabash is at home which is a nice advantage for the LGs.  Also note the date...this game is the week before the biggest league game of the year that absolutely everybody will be looking forward to all season long (it's not even July and we're talking about it!).  Focus may be a challenge.

Those are the only three games on the schedule that I can even allow myself to entertain the hypothetical that Wabash or Witt could lose before Nov. 6.

This is what the addition of Depauw in a few years and the hope that Case will actually want to play Wabash or Witt in the regular season will fix.

Stronger regular season competition = more prepared playoff teams from the NCAC.
