But I'm predicting 8-2 this year...

I'm not going to quibble with anybody who wants to say Wabash is an underdog at Witt this year (but do remember that there's two months worth of games to see how those two teams have addressed their graduation losses), but Duster....buddy....you're saying 8-2?  Please tell me that #2 is Wooster...or Allegheny...hell, even Chicago.  You can't possibly be sitting here in July and predicting a Wabash loss to...geebus I can't even type it.

To borrow from the great Walter Sobchak...you have got to buck up, man.  You can not drag this negative energy into the season!

This isn't 'Nam. This is Wabash / DPU. There are rules.

DadofBashWarrior..

Former Wabash wide receiver Andrew Rode has left Anderson University as the wide receivers coach. He has accepted an offensive GA position coaching receivers at Greenville College.

Greenville College entered the UMAC Conference just last year.

2009 Record: 7-3, 3-0 UMAC South

After running parallel routes throughout the 2009 season, the UMAC's North and South Divisions will merge into one league with one division in 2010, meaning the members of all nine teams will fight for one set of all-conference awards. Just one year after that in 2011, the UMAC is expected to receive its automatic qualifier (AQ) into the NCAA Tournament.

I didn't mark it zero.   ;)

Sorry, I try to be pretty objective when I post on here.  When I'm in the bleachers it's a different story.

There are quite a few question marks that need to be answered in both camps this month before I'm willing to hazard a guess about Week #11.

Wes...you didn't say it in Lebowski.  We had a good string going there.   :)

Wally,

Your poll says it is a toss up at this point between Witt and the L'Giants. But there may be some critical games before Nov. that will influence the conference championship! :)

Are there?

So there are "no" other teams that play Wiit or Wabash that can possibly upset them before they meet? Wow!

There is always the chance that Wabash and Witt get caught not showing up for a game.

Allegheny will field a strong team this year (8-2 last season with a tremendous amount returning)   The two they lost were to Wabash (37-3) and Witt (52-10).   I don't know if the Gators will improve enough to close that gap.

Wooster lost a considerable amount of talent to graduation from a 5-5 record last season.   Wooster dropped both of their games with the Top 2 teams (Wabash 37-27 and Witt 42-6)

Below that in the group of Denison, OWU, Oberlin - I just don't think anyone sees either Wabash or Witt fumbling enough to drop a game.

Of course, anything can happen on any given Saturday  ;)

the addition of Depauw to the conference should help to change the dynamic in the NCAC.

Does Carnegie Mellon or Washington Univ. both away games pose a threat to either Witt or Wabash? Both CMC and WU have been 500 level teams over the last ten years however! :-\

Wash U and CMU are non-conference contests under the UAA agreement with the NCAC.

Witt handled both fairly easily last year and most expect similar results in 2010.

Wabash does not have CMU on the schedule.  And took care of Wash U last season 31-12.   I will say that Wash U has always been a well coached and opportunistic squad that will come to play.  Just don't know if they have the horses to play a full game against the Top 2 in the NCAC.

That WUStl game last year was close enough in the third quarter (17-12 I believe) that Wabash's quarterback had to be out scrambling around for first downs...which (sorry, Matt) led to his chest cavity getting imploded and knocking him out for a few important (to say the least) games.  The WUStl game may not count for NCAC standings, but you never know when one of these non-cons will have a serious impact on the rest of the season.

I don't see CMU threatening Witt.  That kind of an offense just doesn't seem to be able to get much going against defenses with the speed and skill that Witt's defense has.  The Tigers are going to have play a really, really undisciplined game there for the Tartans to be close.
