I'd guess Wabash won't get any higher than 15 before the Witt game, which seems reasonable considering we still won't know exactly what we've got.

Week 10 is big for the North region...Wabash @ Witt, as well as NCC @ Wheaton.  Tough choice for the D3football.com travel crew.   :)

Pat posted on Facebook a few weeks back that he already booked plane tickets to Bash/Witt. I'm sure that it won't disappoint! :)

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

Hopefully there will also be a huge Wabash contingent traveling to Springfield to watch the game.   For all of you that were in attendance when M. Server made his kick, that must have been something.

That kick not only won the game, it officially started the rivalry that we have today between the two teams.

Lots of football to be played between now and the game, but it will be hard to not continuously look forward to early November.

How will the results of this game affect the Bell Game the following week for Wabash?  Is another interesting question.

Oh, it was.   :)  Still remember celebrating at the Springfield BW3 after the game, and telling somebody working there that we were celebrating our win over Wittenberg and getting this response: "Sure.  Wittenberg never loses at home."  They did on that day, buddy.

That moment...in overtime as that kick went through...was the second best Wabash football moment from this fan's point of view.  #1 is the final play of the 2001 Bell game.  With some perspective between now and when those games happened, I think beating Wittenberg in overtime in 2002 was probably a bigger program moment (unless you want to think that the 2001 Bell game was the springboard to 2002).  Getting over the Witt hump was the domino that had to fall for Wabash to go from...wait for it...good to great.   Were I a little older (or maybe a little younger) and that 2001 Bell game hadn't been the first win I'd seen (after watching 5 straight losses), the Server kick might have been a bigger deal to me in the long term.  But watching Wabash win the Bell for the first time, after five years of losing, with no time left and on THAT play...that probably won't ever be topped for me.

On an interesting random note:

With CC being a accomplished QB during his college career, one would think that he would field a team that averaged more points a game than ER led teams.   Actually, ER led teams average .68 more points per game on average.  (35.92 ppg to 35.24 ppg)

and with ER being an accomplished linebacker as a collegiate athlete, one could assume that his defenses would be stingier in giving up points.   But again, assumptions can be wrong.  CC led teams gave up 3.74 less points per game on average. (14.76 ppg to 18.5 ppg)  (NN gets some credit here)

I know it is random, but interesting all the same.

I need the season to start.  ;)

While ER did play linebacker at the Mount (quick aside...there's only one "the Mount" and it isn't St. Joseph...when MSJ goes 843-7 over a 20-year stretch, they can start calling themselves "the Mount"...back to the post), his coaching career has been primarily on the offensive side of the ball.

Congratulations to Bash on the new Turf. Always happy when a D3 school can up the standard a little

Bravo!

It does hold up pretty well, Mount's is 8 years old this year, the Raider soccer teams use it as well. Glad to see Wabash make the committment! :)

Does anyone know what the expected life of the turf is?

The Astro Play claimed to have 20 year life, during that time you may need to pull the surface off and re-groom the underplayment

Why would Witt schedule Hiram for a non conference game? To pad their stats for a post season slot in case of a loss during conference play? Witt's coach has very little respect for the game or opponent,IMHO!

When Earlham left the NCAC that also left a hole in most of the teams in the NCAC's schedule.  So the league office fixed the problem by scheduling a NCAC team in non league play (dumb, I know).  Because of the NCAC's power ranked scheduling Witt's only NCAC opponents that they weren't playing were Denison and Hiram.  To my knowledge Witt had nothing to do with picking the team that they got to play.  Some programs, like Wabash didn't have Earlham on there 2010 schedule do to NCAC power rankings so they play 7 ncac games while witt play's only 6 ncac games (Hiram being the 7).

Do you really think if Witt beats a 0-10, 1-9, or 2-8 Hiram team by 60 pts looks good for post season slots? I would think beating a solid team by 1 would look better than beating Hiram.
