Thanks for the tweets and full writeup!

Yes.  Wally thanks for the tweets from the Red/White.  Did it seem like the players really enjoyed the new surface?

Did the #1 D-line go up against the #1 Offensive line?  How did that battle go?

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

I'd be hard pressed to say that the #1 OL was always against the #1 DL.  With so many new players in those positions and that nobody was wearing official roster numbers, I couldn't say which groups were which.  Assuming the top guys were generally playing with and against Belton's unit, I'd say it was a push.  The DL during Chase's snaps did well to stuff the run.  Against the pass, they didn't get a whole lot of opportunity to get to the QB because the routes were generally short and quick and the ball was out quickly.  As I noted, the DL did collapse the pocket on one occasion, tipped the ball up which wound up in Clegg's hands for a turnover.

I think it's tough to take too much from the scrimmage.  My understanding is that a number of guys didn't participate at all or very much in order to either get healthy or stay healthy.  I'm sure we'll know more after next weekend's scrimmage (I'm assuming there is a scrimmage this weekend) and the team is playing against somebody new.  Even then, dinged guys aren't going to play there either...it'll be until the opener vs. Wooster before we can see exactly how those units are shaping up.

Bash fans-
Wheaton is coming to town this Saturday to scrimmage the LG's. It should be a great test for both teams to prepare for game play. Those of us Thunder fans will rely on your eyewitness reports to provide feedback for us in addition to your normal duties of reporting on the wallys.

I know its been discussed on the relative boards but since both of these teams are top 25 material, it is helpful to lay out the strengths of each team so those in attendance can get a better idea of how we each match up. For example, the strength of this wheaton offense will be its running game. Your defensive front will have a good test. Likewise, the wheaton secondary should be very good and will provide a good gauge for your experienced receivers. Our receivers are about as good as they get in the cciw but we are breaking in a new qb. Thots?

Awfully QUIET for as many teams other than Bash playing this week even with a few conference match-ups.

NCAC's twitter account has a decent list of the schools that have SIS using twitter if you are looking for updates: http://twitter.com/@NCAC/ncac-sports if you know of others please feel free to share.

Usee,

I'll bite.  It sounds like the Bash WR's vs. the Thunder DB's will be very fun to watch.  Lemond and Chamblee are about as good as you get - great routes, athletic, hands, quick, etc.  They are not very big.  Bash also has a 6'4 192 slot receiver, Horn, that is a great compliment.  They also have a TE/Slot named Devin Kelley that could/should have a breakout season - he's 6'5 226.  Matchup-wise, taking these 4 in to account, is not an easy task.  We will also have a very inexperienced O-line and a new QB so that may certainly come in to play.

I'll be interested to see the Bash D vs. the Thunder O.  Early in the season, I think the Bash D will have to carry us.  CJ Gum is an All American candidate in the middle at LB and he'll be behind a seasoned, good sized D front that should help his numbers.  I still say our D front is way underrated yet big, strong, and quick if they can stay healthy.

Who are your leading candidates for QB?

Bash-
I am well aware of the LG skill guys. I saw the bell game on TV and I was at the IWU/bash playoff game. Chamblee and Lemond are great and Glum is a beast. Tyler Langs is our cover corner andour two safeties are big and fast. Should be great to see. We have three sophomore qb's trying to win the role. Jordan Roberts is the leading candidate and he set illinois state records as a HS player for yards, etc. Our running game is stout w Rocky Gingg back from a sports hernia and he is in 2008 form (bash fans will remember him) we hae a couple other fast RBs who are looking good and the head coaches son, justin, is a frosh) that will be fun to see with the 3s. The weakness of the thunder is probably up front on defense right now and depth on the OL.

I really wish I could go see this one as this is a great matchup for a scrimmage. Will be some big hits going on I'm sure. Can't wait for the reports. Here's to no injuries and solid play for both sides

I wonder if I can buy back my two COW picks against BW. I think the freshman QB might be a deal breaker. Oh well, BW has no one but a WR who has ever thrown a varsity pass either. Looking forward to seeing the game in person
