I'd go to NCC/ONU if I had the option!

Either game promises to be a good one.  Both are good venues to watch as well.  Just flip a coin and let fate decide!  Besides, if you find you"re disappointed with the outcome of the coin flip, you can simply attend the other game!  :)

Thanks formerd3db for the information...outstanding!
I remember the Britons having a strong run and the
D3 crown in 1994...100 years prior, 1894 they won the
first MIAA crown & beat Notre Dame in South Bend..
BTW:Thought Randy Shannon or Jon Gruden might  make
quality OWU asst. staffers....Gruden played at U of Dayton
and knows people....Randy needs a  job....just a thought.

You are welcome!  I thought you'd enjoy it.  I always enjoy your own posts regarding the history of OWU and others.  You certainly know a lot of it - indeed, Albion beat ND back in 1894 winning the first MIAA title.  Actually, Albion and U of Michigan played the first collegiate football game in our state back in 1884 (Albion lost 18-0), but Albion then beat Olivet College twice that year, one score was 10-5, which ironically, was the same score of the Albion/Olivet game about 3 years ago!  Anyway, Michigan State was in the MIAA back then as well and eventually left after their great 1903 and 1905 teams.  One last bit of trivia here (so forgive me please, the rest of you NCAC guys here! ;D).  You probably know this but, Jesse Harper, who played for Stagg at the Univ. of Chicago, was head coach at Alma College in 1906 and 1907 before he went on to Wabash for four years.  After helping Wabash get some notoriety, he then, of course, took the ND job and coached Knuke Rockne his senior year.  Harper invited Alma College down to South Bend for four years in a row 1912-1915 to play his ND team in official games - Alma lost those four games by a combined score of 144-0 and to this day, those teams in Alma history are known as "The Suicide Squads"! :D ;D ::) No wonder - they opened up each of those seasons with Michigan State and Notre Dame (although they did beat Michigan State finally in 1916).

Yeah, it would be great if your OWU could entice Gruden or Shannon to come to Delaware, however, I doubt they'll want to leave the "sunny south". ;)  Anyway, thanks for the reply and I hope your recent Thanksgiving was a nice one.  Take care and "catch you on these boards down the road a bit".

Any coaching vacancies in D3 and in particular the NCAC that Bill Lynch might be interested in?  He did very well his one year at DePauw.  Just curious what your thought might be on that.

In case the NCAC news wire missed it, we've traded SeventiesRaider to the NCAC since he's been driving us all nuts in the OAC page with his mindless drivel.  The exact terms of the trade still being finalized, but it appears that Option 2 is going to be selected (see below).

Congrats on the NCAC's big get!

I think I worked something out.  It's hard to tell the terms of the deal because the NCAC president kept using all this high-society language that I could barely comprehend with my meager OAC education but the terms of the deal as I can best understand them are as follows.

There are two active offers to vote on.

Option 1:

The NCAC gets seventiesraider, John Carroll University and half a case of Cholula Hot Sauce (I just threw that in because I have a hook-up).

The OAC gets Hiram back, a dozen unsold NCAC 25th Anniversary sweatshirts, and a lifetime exemption on Wooster/Mount Union chatter.

Option 2 has a little more going on:

The NCAC gets seventiesraider, Marietta (because they're one of the few "colleges" left in our impersonal and huge-enrollment conference), Larry Kinnard's unused OSU gear and mandatory Wally Wabash striped pants for all Otterbein fans all the time and we have to pretend to like it.

The OAC gets Allegheny (just because the NCAC thinks if would be funny for the Ohio Athletic Conference to have a team from PA as a member), a ten-year Kenyon vs. Mount Union swimming invitational where Mount swimmers must bow down to Kenyon in some sort of public display and we must promote stoonk as our lifetime conference ambassador for Division III.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Maybe he and Stan Parrish could team up at OWU!

Whoa whoa whoa. Trades are supposed to be mutually agreed upon and consensual.  ;)

There should be no deal with the OAC unless
we get Vanna White and cash.........

I got it - we give the OAC the 'rights' to Earlham should they want to escape the Heartland, and we get an assortment of the finest meats and cheeses Ohio has to offer.

Okay, a shopping spree at Grandpa's Cheese Barn would definitely make this a deal we can sign on for.

Throw in a Thurman Burger or two and I just might be able to lobby myself enough to change my vote.  ;)

That is a good question.  I still think that Lynch is a good coach.  He's proved it at the other schools.  Indiana is a tough place for anyone to try and bring them up to the next tier.

I would think that with Lynch now approaching the later portion of his coaching career, that, if he still wants to be a head coach, he might consider one of the DIII schools - a little less hectic and pressure in the recruiting aspects although certainly it is not a "cakewalk" in DIII either as it is a tough job to continually get quality student-athletes to come there.  On the other hand, he just might want to finish his career out as an assistant at a DI or DII school - not as much responsibility so to speak as a position coach, although again, there would be much work in the recruiting portion of such a job.  Mnay previous DI coaches have finished their careers at DII and DIII schools - the examples that come to mind the quickest of recent was DePauw's Nick M; Paul Schudel who just finshed at Albion last year and current Trine assistant Dan Simrell, who was Findlay's head man, Toledo and West Virginia OC prior to his current Trine stint.  Anyway, it will be interesting to see what Lynch ends up doing - he's basically stayed in Indiana so will he do the same?
