"Just like Wabash should drop undefeating Kenyon."

Really?  That is a hilarious comment.

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

I think I've made my feeling about these non-league league games pretty clear.  I don't like them, I'd rather see Wabash use that game against somebody from a different league, but the 2010-2011 schedule cycle got thrown out of whack...it isn't perfect.  And let's look at the 2011 schedule.  Wabash is playing teams that are coming off of 7, 7, 9, and 10 win regular seasons, all four of which have two weeks to prepare for Wabash.  I don't think Wabash has to apologize for the Kenyon game.

Relevent to the context of Wittenberg dropping Hiram for Huntigdon next year.

And quasi-UAA member Rochester beat a play-off team (Alfred) that won two post season games.

Okay, I muddied the waters by mentioning Rochester's UAA connection as a reason for them being on CWRU's schedule without fully explaining.  I guess I erroneously figured that anyone joining the discussion would have looked at CWRU's schedule.

The only comparison my post made was between the schedules of Wabash and CWRU.  How is discussion of a team on CWRU's schedule inapt?  Yes Rochester was 4-5, but showed it had talent by beating the aforementioned Alfred (btw Rochester beat another playoff team St. Lawrence, but I know their playoff spot was a fluke).

Talk about comparing apples and Chryslers.

Which is the apple and which the Chrysler?  The quoted sentence makes no comparison.

Yes it does. It compares two things that are not comparable. Much like your argument about Rochester beating Alfred and how the heck that's relevant to the NCAC / UAA deal.

Hey guys ... quit using the word hillarious.  That's a Pat word.  Only he can use that word.

That's a joke.  Its cold in Michigan this morning. And snowing.  And slick roads.  Coffee and this Board are the bright spots.

You criticize CWRU for not improving its schedule, but it has.  Meanwhile Wabash has not.

And CWRU has teams coming off 7, 7, and 8 win seasons, plus Rochester which beat a team that won two playoff games.

So neither does CWRU have to apologize for its schedule.

Let's see who Wabash adds in 2012.

Do you even read any if this or do you just find snippets that you don't like and go off on those?  Wabash plays a mandatory league schedule. The issue is choice. CWRU doesn't have to play any of these games. Wabash has to play them all. What is hard about this?

And get off the Rochester thing already. I'm sure you could play the Rochester beat Alfred who beat whoever who beat whoever who beat Ohio State game.  It's weak. Rochester won four games.

Wabash's schedule strength was 15 out of 230 or so last year.  What's to improve on?

Yes I very well understand that that is your starting premise.

What hard is you can't show it to be true.

In fact Wittenberg dropping Hiram for Huntingdon suggests that Wabash doesn't have to play them all.

You're focusing on one unrepresntative incident to try and make your point.  The Wabash/Kenyon game was originally scheduled as a league game.  Wabash and Kenyon did not schedule this game independent of the league with the intent to play one another in a non-league contest.  Earlham's departure forced the league's hand and this is the result.  It isn't ideal, but it also isn't something that happens often nor is it something that was ever meant to happen nor is it something that is representative of how these two teams generally schedule games.

You've got the answers...who should Wabash put on the schedule instead of Kenyon?  October 1, 2011.  You tell me what's available and we can talk about whether or not it makes any sense at all to do it.  Here are the caveats:
1) It's got to be a home game for Wabash...no reason for Wabash to give up that home game, not to mention that that weekend will probably be Homecoming Weekend.
2) It's got to be a D3 school.
3) Preferably regional.

Go.  I'll also save you the effort of checking the open dates page.  Huntingdon already has a game on 10/1.  Wesley may or may not already have a game scheduled...I can't tell.  Either way, there's no good reason for Wabash to play that game.  Newport News doesn't do much more for you than Kenyon does, except they're about an extra 500 miles away and not regional.  So what would you have Wabash do on 10/1/2011?

That was brutal.  They did y'all dirty on that deal...say what you will about the choice made to simply make a previously scheduled league game not count for the standings, they should have made every effort to make sure a team didn't lose important dates ilke Homecoming.

If that would have happened at Wabash, the plush NCAC offices in Cleveland would be on fire. Like Tommy's.
