Bashbacker#16:

You make a good observation and thanks for pointing that out.  I actually had noticed that myself, yet I didn't want to bring more attention to a sore topic and perhaps tick someone off. ;)  However, I agree that it is a disappointing aspect particularly since the team did so well and one of the best within their football history.  One would think that surely there would have been more fans attending this year and filling the stands in historic Blackstock Stadium.  Strange.  But, were that Hope having that kind of season, for example, I can assure you that our home attendance would have been around 4,000 or more.  Oh well.

DePauw's performance in that game reminded me of the great John McKay quote, talking about the putrid expansion Bucs.

"We didn't tackle well today but we made up for it by not blocking."

But by far the best quote (I think it was also John McKay), asked "What did you think of your team's execution", he responded "I'd be in favor of it".

Mr. Ypsi, indeed, that has to be one of the all time greats, if not the greatest! ;D +k!!!

John mcKay asked about his teams execution that day.

"I am all for it."

Witt's Eddie Vallery is working out for the pro scouts at OSU's pro day March 11. He knows he won't get drafted, but hopes to get a free-agent tryout and maybe a practice squad opportunity or get a chance with a CFL team.

On Tuesday, Wittenberg grad Jeff Mullen was introduced as the offensive coordinator for the fledgling program at UNC-Charlotte, which is set to begin playing in 2013. Most recently he was the OC at West Virginia from 2008-2010.

Cali,

I don't have any "insider" information, but it looks like Wooster will be pretty good next year, but they'll have to fill a lot of holes to challenge for the conference title. They've got a lot coming back on offense, with most of the o-line intact, and a lot of talent at RB, TE and QB... but there's huge question marks at the WR spot, my guess is they'll have to fill the holes with freshman and position changes.

On defense, its the same deal - tons of talent on the DL, with Terhune being an All American last year, and Holtz having Vallery-level athleticism at DE, and also in the secondary with Trout and Howard, but there's holes at LB with Clavijo transferring this past offseason. They have Breidigum, who had a breakout year, and I saw good things from Quinn Hood at the other OLB spot, but the MLB position is open - Josh Lewis has great ability, but he can't stay healthy. The D should be very good, IMO, as there arent as many question marks... if they can get as much pressure on the QB as they did at times last year, they could be really good.

I don't know their schedule for next year, but I believe they have the talent to win 7 or 8 games... anyone else got some insight? I'd bet Seinfeld or ScotLass would have some better insight.

Thanks for the insight FightinScot

According to the Indianapolis Star, Westfield High School (in Hamilton County, IN for those not from around here) has hired Wabash D-Coord Jake Gilbert as its head football coach.

Very good for Westfield which has not had a great deal of football success in past years, and a substantial hole to fill for the Little Giants.

Welcome to Westfield, Jake!

Aueagle,

With the break in the weather I've managed to resume my daily walks in Delaware and noticed a lot of construction activity at Selby over the past 4-5 weeks.  Do you have an idea of what they're doing?  They appear to be building a small structure next to the fence.....concession stand???....but the majority of the workers were going in and out of the west stadium; my walking partner and I thought it could be a locker room project.  At any rate, if you could satisfy our curiosity we'd appreciate it.  Last year's lighting of the stadium made a big splash around here, although a broken hip made it impossible for me to attend any of the college or high school night games.  Any news on next year's team?  According to the Gazette, that Frosh QB really found a nice groove towards the end of last season or was that a result of who they were playing at the time.
