NCAC administration and logic are not necessarily next to each other but in the long run the teams and schools are good for each other, offer a valuable and complimentary addition to the education experience and the schools are generally respectful of each other (those of you not of Wabash/DePauw need to understand - as I  believe you will come to ... that I used the word "generally" and also ... do not mistake the intenseness of the rivalry and heat of the contest for lack of respect.  Heck ... my wife is a Dannie."  So ... happy 4th to all and listen to the special song which Lee Greenwood does so well.

The B1G managed to incorporate Nebraska for 2011.

NCAC hasn't released the 2012 FB sched.

Although CMU's site shows the Tartans playing Wabash, DePauw, Denison, and Ohio Wesleyan.

Well, honestly, the NCAC is more to blame than DePauw here. This is a quite unusual transition schedule.

To a certain degree, yes.  I'm a little frustrated about not having a conference this season.

However, I'm a million times more frustrated that the athletic department tells the SCAC they don't need their teams to play a full schedule, and THEN figures out they can't get anybody to show up and play them in Greencastle. They can't even put a schedule together to make a legitimate run at a Pool B.  It's probably a long shot no matter how you slice it, but it sure ain't happening on that schedule they put together.  Not good enough.  That's it.

You've been to the playoffs 2 straight years but can't even put a schedule together to give yourself a chance?  Come on.  Are you trying to get to the next level or not?  What's the goal here?

Look at Wesley as an example -- they have to schedule a ton of games every year because they have so few, this year zero, conference games. But they have the ability to offer a home-and-home series, at least. DePauw is trying to fill nine games (figuring Week 11 is pretty locked in) and has just one year open. They can't return the game for years, in most cases, unless it's an NCAC team.

DePauw's in a no-win here. I still think the NCAC timeline on this is ridiculous.

But come to think of it, the NCAC football schedule has been ridiculous for as long as I have been aware of it, pretty much.

My understanding is that North Central offered to play a game in Greencastle, but DePauw wasn't interested.  NCC ended up scheduling an NAIA team on Sept. 10, which is still an open date on DePauw's schedule.

I also heard this from a good North Central source. If true ... it is too bad .... AND >>> perhaps the Dannies cry too much.

I don't think anybody posted this about the new scoreboard at Selby....
I thought it was going to be bigger, but, this beats the old one by far.

I think the North Central thing is unfortunate.  Like I said previously, it's going to be difficult to win a Pool B regardless of how DePauw schedules.

However, that doesn't mean that you shouldn't try anyway.

When Wabash transitioned from the HCAC to the NCAC, the football team played one more season in the HCAC (1999) while the rest of the teams began their NCAC league play that year.  Obviously that was something that had been worked out as part of the exit strategy between Wabash and both of the affected conferences.  It's anybody's guess as to why DePauw and the SCAC couldn't/wouldn't have come to a similar agreement for 2011 if there wasn't a commitment that they could participate in NCAC football in 2011.

It was announced on June 9, 2010 that DePauw had accepted the NCAC's invitation to become a member which is a full 15 months before the start of the 2011 season.  That seems like a long enough time to have worked DePauw into the league schedule for this fall.  I won't pretend to know the logistics of football schedules and the travel plans that come along with them, but if the SCAC schools that were supposed to play DePauw this season had no problem cancelling those plans, I would think that (15 months ahead of schedule) the NCAC maybe could have done more to work DePauw in for this fall.  That's the feeling I get, but again, I'm not an expert when it comes to football travel plans.

Then, one throws in "when a league game isn't counted as such" and interplay with the UAA - there are definitely some complications to work through.  Wonder if east/west divisional play ala the new baseball schedule isn't the next twist.  Only hope that the NCAC doesn't muck around with Monon Bell!  ::)

What are you gonna do .... the NCAC administrators in charge of scheduling undoubtedly have tenure, and we are seeing the result.

MIAA in Exile

Regardless of recruiting class size, the real question for the Lords is when are they going to beat Denison in Granville again?  I believe it's only happened once since 1900 (1987) on a blocked field goal attempt return for a TD and two point conversion (8-7) late in the game.  We went 3-1 over the Big Red 89-92, but we had them at home 3 times.
