I for one, welcome our Danny underlings to our pick 'em festivities!

I figured that most of the Wabash pickers wouldn't mind taking advantage of the opportunity to pick against DPU all season instead of having to wait until November to do it.   :)

Thanks for the opportunity.  Didn't really have a home for anything anymore. No more South region pick'em.  No more South Region Fan Poll.  This season sucks already.

Alright gang, I've got the games for week 1 posted over on the pick 'em board (located in the General  Football area for those new to the forum).  Pick away!

Nonsense. Y'all have a new home. You're just moving in before the closing date. . .

ANYONE INTERESTED IN BEING PART OF THE 2011 TOP 25 FAN POLL, PLEASE SEND ME A MESSAGE WITH YOUR CURRENT EMAIL ADDRESS. Now that Kickoff is out, I'd like to get our first poll out by the middle of next week.

Bob Knight at Wabash in September?
Now that would be worth going to.

I've mentioned the South Region Fan Poll a few times.  Ralph Turner has invited me to a be a part of that the last few years.  I'm kinda kicking the tires on starting a North Region Fan Poll.  A few of us from all the different conferences in the region.  Think that's a good or bad idea?  I suppose Mount Union is and would be #1 for the next eleventy weeks, but some fun nonetheless...

On the possible ending of the NCAC/UAA arrangement, no decision has been made yet by the NCAC.  The conference is likely to decide in the next few weeks whether to continue playing the UAA teams or to have a nine-game full round-robin conference schedule.

Not a big Hiram fan or anything but was wondering if anyone had any idea who they scrimmaged and how they looked.  From what I heard they had a pretty good recruiting class.

This situation is most intriguing-the UAA agreement was not very attractive to me, when Wabash seemed to be locked in to playing Chicago and Wash (St Louis) year after year. In 2010, the UAA was more balanced and put aside the Case Western dominance with a vengeance. Wabash lost to Wash U, and but for some critical injuries could have lost to Chicago, which went on to win the conference. There is no certainty that the UAA  can maintain this level of balance, but it would be interesting to continue, particularly if the schedules could be adjusted to match Wabash (and now DePauw) against CMU and CWRU.
The difficulty in going to 2 or 3 non-conference games is to decide who is going to play who in the conference, if it is not a full 9 game round-robin, and whether some schools (Kenyon) will
insist on treating some games as non-conference. Some modification must be made to the "Power Rankings" which lagged behind at least 2 years in determining schedules.
I know the value of continuing the UAA-NCAC agreement will depend on the continuance of the competitivenes of the UAA schools, but if not there is always the argument that "a win is a win". That was the theory of Al McGuire, the legendary coach at Marquette, who said the most important factor in the success of a program was scheduling.
