Wow, who would have thought in the 90s, when Witt owned the conference, that in the new millinium, the NCAC would have four different champs, and OBERLIN would have made a run in 03 and Kenyon in 05?

Me, actually.  I wrote it down on a slice of American cheese, but later accidentally ate it.  It's for the best, however, as you all would've just laughed at me anyway.

But mark this down...in the future Hiram will be lost from the landscape of NCAC football, not to mention America.  In two years, in a home game, they will actually have negative offensive yardage, and a black hole will spontaneously spawn from the intense sucking, pulling the school and the surrounding town through a rift, into a parallel dimension where Bizarro Hiram will beat out Bizarro Kalamazoo for the Bizarro Stagg trophy.

Either here, or that'll happen in the Bizarro dimension, spitting out a decent team here, which will actually compete in the conference.  So, that's my prediction, either a space-time fabric ripping hole of football-suck, or Hiram will get better.  One or the other.

You heard it here first.

P.S.  There's been surprisingly little Witt/Bash trash-talking?  What happened to all the Witt posters?

How about the Wabash love shown by Pat & Co.?  Russ is front and center on the home page (at least for the time being).

If you're going to give him grief about perceived lack of coverage/respect, then you have to give him props for a front page pic!

Indeed, props to Pat and the powers that be.

And hey - K-Mack mentioned me in Around the Nation.

Ok, I'm pimpin' myself...

Here's to mucho mas "Wabash College First Dowwwwwns"...
Wabash Always Fights!

DarkSide-D,
My point was simply that one could argue that Wooster ran up the scores in those games last year. But the fact is they were a great team last year, it was hard not to score, even with Sutton out and Wabash looks to be a great team this year.
IMO Wabash's last touchdown last week was just that-their last touchdown.
Not an act of a "classless" team running up the score.

"P.S.  There's been surprisingly little Witt/Bash trash-talking?  What happened to all the Witt posters?"

Thats because we haven't really earned the right to trash talk.  If we win Saturday, you'll hear it.

Also, if my team is the underdog, I tend not to trash talk.  In fact, I usually save it for after a win.  Its less embarrassing that way if we come out on the short end.

My key to the game for Witt:  Force turnovers.  They are going to give up yards, but if they can get some timely TO's, momentum could shift their way.

DarkSide-D

I think the best way for Witt to win the game is to Run the ball right up the middle.  Granted Bash has one of the best rushing defenses in the country, but I believe that the best way to defeat that kind of defense is to use your big uglies up front to get a push and punch the ball up the middle.  This will keep the Bash D honest and open up the passing game for holmes, or whoever will be throwing the ball.

Like I sais before, I am not a coach, but it seems to me that that is the best way to defeat the best Defense.  I think Witt will reveal bash's d's weakness this week.  But it will still not be enough.  Bash will win.

Thoughts on Witt/Wabash: It will be an upset if Witt wins. Can Witt win? Yes, it will take some timely turnovers and penalties for it to happen. If Witt is as good as OWU and you take away the trick plays Wabash scored on OWU and Wabash makes the same mistakes now as they did then, weather being an added factor, Witt has a chance. Bottom line, if Wabash plays the way they are capable, Witt doesn't stand a chance. I'm hoping Wabash makes mistakes and Witt has the game of their year! Go Tigers! Obviously the reasoning behind that comment is so OWU has a chance.

Thoughts on OWU/Kenyon:  This game comes down to which defense shows up for OWU. The offense has play makers and I'm not worried about them but the defense has had some breakdowns this year along with some great stops. I like the scheme Coach Delaney uses but it takes the players to perform each and every game. I will be there in the muck looking forward to a game played in what is commonly called football weather.

Well, the spotlight is certainly there.  Thanks, Pat.  The "temperature quotient" (and resulting pressure) has gone up at least 10%.  Now is the time for the L'il Giants to show they deserve the attention.  Witt is next, tomorrow in C-ville.  Weather forecast seems to have improved slightly--still cool (50+) with 30% chance of showers.

Go 'Bash!  WABASH ALWAYS FIGHTS!!

BashBacker#16

Darkside,

Witt has good size at their tackles but I don't think they run up the middle against Bash.  Last year (when Murray ripped) I believe Bash was in a 3-man front most of the day.  This year with the rotation, we've played much more (if not all) 4 man fronts.  Lange & Shaefer will hold their own and I expect Pynenberg to play much better this week.  The Bash D will also get a boost with Selby returning.  That will help a great deal in coverage on Murray out of the backfield...Foster on one side, Selby on the other.

Kcreds - I'd be much more worried about the OWU offense scoring points.  Their D should be fine.

I missed out on all the excitement.  All the talk about Bash's late bomb against Woo.  I know I wont hold a grudge.  Actually I am still in the thank you mode when it comes to the Bash staff.  I can't thank them enough for that pass down the middle play they called at last years game.  They were killing our D-backs with the sideline stuff but oooooops, a pass into middle coverage.  The game was theirs, a field goal is a win, but Woo was able to leave happy.  Bash, thanks again!

BashDad

It's been said--now is the time to do.

Go BASH!

WABASH ALWAYS FIGHTS!!

Ski

Now you have done it ... we will get Woo next year for that classless interception.

Witt will Tiger down.  'Bash by 14.

Does anyone know ther reason why the NCAC bureaucrats whould believe the tie breaker methodology needs to be secret?  I don't even care ... for this purpose what the methodology is.  The theeshold question:  why the need for secrecy?  That and the bogus "All Sports Trophy" are 2 real winners.

DarkSide-D

Wabco,

I don't think the "All-Sports" trophy is bogus.  It is an All sports torphy, meaning all the sports endorsed by the NCAC are taken into consideration.  Its not the conferences fault that Wabash only participates in half of those sports.

Ski, the field goal was not a win in that situation.  A field goal would have been a tie, and then an overtime
