Holmes is an interesting choice for POY.  On one hand it makes sense because he's the quarterback of the team most people think will win the conference.  On the other hand, Witt's offensive strength and focus is, and always has been, running backs.  If I had to pick a player that is most valuable to Witt this year, I would pick Murray above Holmes.

The karma is voted on by clicking applaud which gives positive karma or smite which gives negative karma.  Your karma rating is the number to the right.

My pre-season POY vote would have to go to Tristan Murray.  I know that Holmes has the ability to air it out, but I just think that Witt likes to pound the ball too much and Murray will have a big year.

Hmmm...I don't seem to have to applaud/smite buttons.  Am I not looking in the right spot?  What am I missing?

Pat Coleman

Yes, older posters get to vote. No one-star bandits on this board -- or at least if there are, it will be someone who's earned the right by paying his/her dues.

Wally, I'm working my way through the post totals to see who should have a higher number from the old board. You should be OK now.

As for the conference ranking, it's not just your Top 5 that need to improve, it's your bottom 5. If you can ever get that to a bottom 4 or bottom 3 on a consistent basis, you'll see some movement.

And in the process, Wally, looks like I might have taken your two accounts and combined them into the wrong one. Your login should be wally_wabash but it might have the password from the other username now.

Scotsfan,

Gheny plays some of the hardest non conferences games in the NCAC.  4 years ago (and a few years before that we opened with Mt.)  The past 3 years we have played BW (a top ten team one of those years).  We always play W&J.  3 years ago they were 3rd in the nation, we beat them, and the past two years they have been a top 10 team.  Finally, westminster isn't no joke.

Lancer,

Yeah I was there.  Why would Pat have made a mistake?  That link was only about the championship game.
Now I will say that my recollection might not be totally accurate, but I remember Mt going ahead early and Allegheny slowly coming back.  The onside kick was actually a bloop kick.  The TE was named Six I believe.   I just remember some big catches by him.

Hey Pat, if you're bored and have nothing to do for a minute (haha, yeah right), would you mind re-upping my post-count to include my old number too?  Or are you doing this systematically?

Thanks!

GoGheny,

I know that the Gators have been taking on a pretty brutal schedule the past few seasons and I was unfair to lump them into that group.  You are right about Allegheny taking on tougher non-conference foes.  And speaking of Westminster, that is my alma mater and I am glad to see them trying to rebuild that once proud program.  I was there in the early 90's when the Titans were an NAIA powerhouse.  I remember us playing Allegheny each year in what was then the battle of DIII's best vs. NAIA's best.  Those were some great games!!!

Anyways, the onus on making this conference more credible lies with the bottom 5 as Pat said.  Until they start becoming even the slightest bit competitive, I'm afraid our conference ranking won't improve all that much.

gobash83

I tend to agree that the conference ranking is about right.  What I don't know is whether the UAA deal inhibits our ability to improve it.  It is my sense that wins against Chicago, Case, etc. won't add much credibility to our conference.

it will improve us academically but not in the conference rankings...i myself like the agreement but others will not im sure...im hoping it might help the UAA in their recruiting...

How does playing football against the UAA make us stronger academically?  Perhaps I'm missing something here...

And playing the UAA year in and year out will NOT help the NCAC's case for being a stronger conference.  Our bottom teams have to start beating somebody (anybody) and the top teams need to be out playing against strong teams from the OAC, MIAA, PAC, CCIW, etc.  I really, really hope that this thing only lasts for two years.

wally, i was being sarcastic...but they do have strong gpa's...my feeling is that its agreed and i would think its for more than 2 years but i dont know...im very happy with the NCAC as opposed to D3 football factories...

Scotsfan,

Did you play with Bill Luffy?  I'm pretty sure he was there when they won it all.  he was my Offensive Co.  in High School.... He was pretty bad at it.
