Are there NCAA rules on what films need to be exchanged with playoff opponents?
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Bashbro,

Unless it has changed, the film exchange is a very big deal and pretty cool how they do it.  There is an NCAA rep (typically another coach who's team is not in the tournament) - I remember in 2002, ours was Tim Rucks (Carthage HC) and I believe in 2005 it was Mike Leonard (Franklin HC).  They come to the game with game films from the possible opponents.  When the game is over, they provide the films.  It is somehow predetermined what games are exchanged.  I'm guessing there have been some changes to that process (largely due to technology and software programs) but not sure.  I know one program is called HUDL and it is awesome.  But yes, the process is firmly regulated and there are certainly guidelines to this entire topic.

P.S.  I remember hosting Coach Leonard at our tailgate as he called me the night before to make sure he found us.  Great guy that I've known since camps in high school.  I also remember Wabash fans taking over the BW-3's in Alliance the night before the game and having some beers with Coach Rucks.  Hilarious.  That was a great night!

Sorry if I got off track from your question.  Playoffs rock.

So if we get their last two films,  we would get Beloit and Grinnel.....  They would get Depauw & Witt....??

That's the way I recall the official exchanges - last two games.  But in these internet days, I'm guessing nearly every coach one way or another acquires 'films' on every game an opponent has played.  (Though many of the 'films' may be barely usable for film study - many podcasts are pretty basic.)

Hello my "friends" from the NCAC!

This is a crazy bracket this year, and I for one think it's going to be a fun ride.  Everyone (well the UWW people, some D3 people, and most CCIW people), think this is NCC's year.  They are on a roll, and ready to supplant Mount as one of the top two.  I am not so sure.

As a Mount fan, I think the potential regional final game is extremely exciting, and intriguing.  It's either the "heir apparent" in NCC, or the "student faces the master" in Wabash.  ER confided in me right before he took the Wabash job how much he is still loyal to LK and Mount, and will never forget where he came from.  He also said that if he eventually had to play Mount, he wanted to be a significant game, and would look forward to the challenge.

Wabash folks....you are blessed to have him.  He is that good.

Good luck, and hopefully we will see you in a few weeks.

Great post (+k) but with one minor correction.  As one of the CCIW posters who is predicting NCC will go into Alliance and (gasp!) win, I also believe they would have to do that about 5 times in a row to 'supplant' UMU in the Big Two. ;D  [I speak only for myself, but I suspect all other CCIW posters would agree.]

NCC hopes to make it the Big Three; to 'supplant' UMU would require several consecutive years of UMU becoming Capital or ONU. :P

And before that, of course, NCC would have to beat Wabash - no easy task.  And even before that they have to beat the Zweifel machine from Dubuque (Stan, with a UWW pedigree, and his son Michael, holder of numerous pass receiving records).

We may (or may not) be able to resume this conversation in a couple of weeks! ;)  [Though, if so, it would be rude to do it on the NCAC board! 8-)]

Actually, I think it's another Purple, St. Thomas, that can knock on the door of the other Purples.

But first things first, as it were. We need to beat the Blueboys before worrying about anything else. But thanks for the kind words skunks!

My Titans hope to prove you wrong next week!  (My bracket has IWU winning until they encounter UWW in the semis.  In 2009, while I had no illusions about actually winning, I honestly thought IWU had the defense to slow UWW significantly - I was wrong. :P)

Bashbro,

It is NOT the last 2 games.  It's somehow predetermined what games they are - not sure exactly.  I remember dad saying a few times how they wished they had that game vs the one we got...etc.

Weather looks great tomorrow with a high of 58 and mild.

Hey aueagle:

I know I probably should be posting this over on the soccer boards, however, I don't really know most of those posters there and besides...you are the expert on this. :)  Nonetheless, Hope plays this afternoon at Ohio Wesleyan in the 2nd round of the NCAA soccer playoffs and I was wondering if OWU uses Selby Stadium for that or does OWU have separate soccer facilities?  Just curious.  I think that your OWU has the inside track at winning this one (as they are doing better than your football team, although the latter did have a .500 season in league play and did seem to improve a bit this year).  Anyway, thanks for the info if you get the chance to answer this sometime today.  Hope you are doing well and all best wishes to you (and all our colleagues here on the NCAC board) for a blessed Thanksgiving holiday next week.

Wabco,

You know Denison is the Big Red, right?  :o

The Big Cookie had some stickers back in the day that said "Go Big Red."  I used to have one.  I knew what he was referring to, Smeds, so I am sure many other did as well...   ;)

Well, I think that was before we got into a conference with a team that is named the Big Red. Don't want anyone to think we're on board the Denison train, here!
