thanks for the link. At the UWW game they flashed the half-time score...then I about fell off my seat when they flashed the final score an hour or so later.

I guess it's true...WAF.

Just woke up from passing out (50% alcohol, 50% couldn't sleep last night)

Ok....  A couple of things!

1.  Congrats to NCC on a great season and being the team that you were today!

2.  Can this game please help to disintegrate the S.O.S. BS and let this be a case study in that sometimes great teams don't play great competition, but are still great.  Thank you.

3.  Tyler Burke - Thank you!  Thank you for contributing so much on the sidelines this year and then when you are called upon...... Became a Legend!  That is how it is done...Sir.

4.   Finally,  stats.   Stats are for losers, The numbers on the scoreboard are for winners.   All of the who played who and beat who by how much..... all BS, The real thing happens on the field of play.

Again,  congrats to both team today from two wonderful programs!

To the 2011 Little Giants,  You shocked most, impressed all and made the entire Wabash Community as proud as it has ever been!

Bravo!

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

North Central had Wabash on the edge of knocked out today and had three distinct chances to make the knockout blow...each time Wabash avoided the kill shot:

1- Opening drive of the second half.  If Wabash doesn't go the length of the field and score there, I'm not sure they ever get back into it.  That drive breathed life back into the sideline and the home crowd...enough so that the Cardinal answer on the next drive didn't really squash the rally.  The energy was there to stay.

2- Right after the Burke fumble at the start of the 4th quarter.  NCC took over up 28-7 and just inside Wabash territory.  Even a field goal off that turnover forces Wabash to score three TDs (which they did anyway) and get 3 deuces to tie.  Tall, tall order.  Instead, the Wabash defense held North Central to 6 yards in three plays and forced a punt.

3- The drive after Wabash cut it to 28-14.  LGs kick short, NCC rips off 29 yards in two plays and are nearing FG range.  Then Buresh pops the ball loose from Tassio and Najaar falls on it.  Any points on that drive and it was going to be over.  Heck, even if NCC got deep into the red zone and didn't score but took another 2-3 minutes off the clock it probably would have been done.  Wabash had to have the turnover at right that moment and they got it.

Those were the three moments where I think North Central had a chance to finish it Mortal Kombat style.  All three times, Wabash wasn't letting it happen.  Wabash won today with supreme effort and supreme heart.  And some really good players.  It was kind of cool to remember how crazy good Horn and Chamblee can be when Wabash decides to spread it out and sling it 50 times.  That hasn't been the modus operandi this year, but it's nice to know it's there when they need it.

I think this is what Wes came back for.
Got confirms from 2 for next Saturday plus a couple guys who played at Mt. Union and with my one of my sons in high school.  Will be in Wooster gear on the Wabash side, if that is O.K.?
That Burke could do this was awesome. I am assuming that Belton gutted through the first playoff game, but would have hurt Wabash effort today.  He was obviously injured that first playoff game.  With another week under his belt, Burke will be fine the first half next Saturday.  Saw Burke cheering Belton on all year, now Belton cheering Burke on today.  Cool!
I wonder if NCC prepared for Belton all week?  Belton was certainly dressed like he was going to play, right down to the war paint.
Chamblee is the best offensive player in the league and Glum the best on D. My humble opinion.
And Chamblee and Horn do not drop balls.  They catch everything near them.
12-0.  Enjoy.

Any news on how to get tickets for next weeks win at Alliance?

I remember in 2002 that I had to pick up tickets at the Wabash Athletic office.

Or is that all by the wayside these days and you can only get tickets at the game?

I'll guess that ticket info will be available tomorrow or Monday at the Wabash website and then appropriately splattered and linked throughout this forum immediately thereafter.   :)

Wally,

These are all key moments I agree. But there are no less than 4 key moments on the last Wabash drive alone that would have ended the LG's hopes. 4th and 17 Burke runs for first down, 4th and 15 Burke to Chamlee through 6 NCC defenders (3 killing Burke and 3 on Chamblee), the almost interception about 4 plays later, the tipped 2pt conversion. Any of those go the other way and its a sad day in C'ville. Legendary I say. Statue's and Statutes. The temporary holder of the little brass bell loses to the holder of the Monon Bell. Classic.

Classic will be north central's fifth straight victory over wheaton hopefully denying them a play-off birth for the 2nd year in a row.
