Also, congrats to OWU for claiming the D-III men's soccer championship today, 2-1 over Calvin
Long shall we sing thy praises, Old Wabash

Congrats Wabash, on a terrific season. CJ Gumm is a stud and in a league of his own. You have alot to look forward too and the talent you got, you'll be in the hunt again next season. Your "12th man" following is incredible and truly makes a big difference in having that kind of support! Again congrats on a benchmark season and thanks to those that were able to join up for wings and brews friday night.

Thanks Schwami...2nd title for OWU....tough 2-1 victory over Calvin
And the team vans got broken into as well....Now can the magic transfer
to the gridiron, please?!!!

I'm also happy for OWU. I'm glad those young men will have a good memory of San Antonio rather than having to dwell on having all their gear stolen from their van while they ate dinner.

Heckuva game and a heckuva season for our Little Giants.  On today's game...as has been noted all over the place, Wabash's defense was awesome today as they have been all year.  I think we knew going in that scoring would be at a premium.  That first half was rough (a lot like last week) and then when Wabash got a few things going in the second half they just couldn't finish it off in the red zone (thanks to the Mount Union defense which was stout everywhere and then ridiculous down against the goal line).

Fun game to watch today in a fun atmosphere.  I hope that we can do it again next year and take another step up the D3 mountain.  Wabash isn't that far away...the horses are there.  Keep working hard, improving, and put it all together in December.  I really believe that this is going to happen for Wabash in the near future.  Wabash Always Fights!

Congratulations to the Little Giants for a great season.  You earned a ton of respect that past few weeks.  You left no doubt that Wabash Always fights. Way to go!  ;)

Wabash is there defensively.   A couple players away on offense.

We are close..... very close.

WABCOL86

Agree with everybody else's comments.  We ARE close.  Also congrats to OWU on the National Championship in Soccer, reflects well on the NCAC!!

I, too, made it home safely and somewhat more appreciative of the season-at-large than disappointed at yesterday's result. We had a terrific time in Alliance. I've lost my voice.

I'll agree with those who've said it first: our defense is absolutely top shelf. It's a national championship defense. To put things in perspective a little bit, the 20 points scored by UMU is their lowest playoff total since 2006. Their 236 yards of offense? That's the lowest in ANY game since at least 2002. Someone from Raider country would have to help me out because their archive of stats only lists game-by-game statistics through 2003. Their game-by-game yardage for most of the decade isn't even close. For a point of reference, even in their loss to St. John's in 2003 saw them moving the ball more (288).

That was an incredible, incredible performance. Our offense isn't quite there yet, but it's not a world away. If the mark of a good program is a deliberate and ascending march toward the top, this season can only be regarded as a success. What a trip these last 5 weeks have been. I hope we can remember next season how little we can actually know about a team before they are truly tested.

I tip my hat to the seniors. What a bunch.

We'll be back. And better. And that feels really good.

Does Gum have a shot for National DPOY?

He's not the only deserving candidate, for sure, but man-- I don't think there's anyone better.

Thanks, man.

EDIT: Well, shoot: those don't have game-by-game either.

Sorry, best I can do.

Just wanted to say how impressed I was by the Wabash faithful yesterday.  Your support for your team was outstanding, and as a group you represented your College well.

A great effort by Wabash yesterday...your D was very tough. For those of you who were there I have a question...when down 20-0 do you think your team used the clock wisely? It seemed that the offense took it's time and wasted a lot of clock and with a hurry up offense the game could have been much different IMHO.

Nope.

The fourth and inches on the goal-line nonsense can be entirely attributed to this. So frustrating.

Several drives seemed to gain a rhythm only to be knocked windless by the waiting. Which is curious. One of the subtle reasons we jumped all over NCC last week in the fourth was the speed in which we were snapping the ball, running the play, and getting back to the line with a fresh call.

I'm sure UMU and their defense (which is nasty in its own right) dictated some of the confusion, but yeah-- that stuff was hard to watch. We burned all of our time-outs in bogus I-don't-know-what-I'm-doing situations and all--I think--in the 3rd quarter.
