You wonder how long term these new coaches will be if they have a relatively quick success. Say Kenyon in 2013 goes 6-4 or OWU in 2013 goes 8-2 - I am sure other programs will come knocking on their door.

Looked at the bio of the young man that Kenyon hired.  Very impressive.
Will be interesting to watch and see the two programs being successsfully rebuilt, which I hope they both are.
Certainly Kenyon has a farther way to go back to respectability--I am talking only on the football field, of course.
The new Kenyon coach does have a pretty good looking resume, as does Mr. Hart.  Neither one has head coaching experience, so they can each make their mark at the two schools.

Whether they make there mark or not may depend a lot on the admissions at their respective schools.

Kenyon's old coach, coach Stanley, stated that he had problems getting his recruits into the school and their was little support from the admissions office or the administration. He felt he was recruiting quality student/athletes to Kenyon, but admissions disagreed.

Recruiting did not seem to be Holloway's forte at OWU, but could not hold onto recruits either once they got on campus. Always seemed to be building for the future. Football team had 60 players last year. Looks like OWU wants to up that number with the fund raising campaign, but will have to wait and see how that all pans out. If Watts can get quality recruits, get them into OWU through admissions and keep them in the program that will go a long way to making his mark on this program.

IMHO

Go Bishops, Baseball starts on Feb 25.

I think we will see a better relationship between the football office and the admissions office in Delaware. And that will not be at the sacricfice of quality student-athletes.
Early out of the gate, I'd have to give the nod to Kenyon. The Lords head coach already has his own tv show up and running. The Chris Monfiletto Show. The Red & Black need to move on this, since we now have a cool website...and it has the link to D3.

Poor Stan Parrish - Named the worst coach in Kansas State history according to this article. Could have stayed at Wabash forever and been a Div III legend.

I'm anxious to see the staff Coach Watts puts together. With QB Espo projected as a 3rd yr starter and the Bishops in need
of a running game....the selection of the offensive coach will be key. I hope to be in Delaware in March to see a workout.
New era for Ohio Wesleyan.....Black n Gold Tigers join the conference.....new blood in Gambier....Exciting time for the NCAC.

Excellent article wally world, +k :).  Where did you find that?  As much of a college football nut as I am like the rest of you guys, I had never heard of that site.  Anyway, the coaching records article is great, but the one following/linked to that on the college football stadiums across the country is just as great.  The author even included our DIII St. John's (Clemens) and Univ. of Chicago in the stadium groups - although he forgot to mention that St. John's attendance the past 3-4 years was way more than the 7482+ capacity of their stadium and that one of the old Stagg Bowl's huge sets of doors is preserved and now part of the enterance to the "new" Stagg Field for U of C's DIII program (he did mention that the former site of the old Stagg Field is now marked as a shrine for Fermi's atomic bomb research work, although didn't mention that the universities huge library now sits on the site).  Nonetheless, again it is a neat site and a ton of info.  Also, it was great to read about some of the past coaches, including those from recent years, and where they eventually went and/or are now.  And finally, the author did mention that Stan Parrish (who was at Wabash when my brother was playing in DIII), is now the QB coach for Siena Heights University here in Adrian, MI (new cross town rival for Adrian College), which just started their football program a last year.  The head coach there is former long-time head coach at Adrian and former U of Mich player Jim Lyall.  It is interesting that many of the long time coaches who started out at our DIII, went on to the other levels in DII, DI as head coaches, many times come back to end their careers by helping out as assistants at DIII schools (other examples or Simrell (Toledo, WV, Findlay) at Trine and Schudel (U of Mich, Ball State) and Arnold (Albion, Montana State)  at Albion, (whose son E.J. played at Albion late '90s-2000, assist coach there 2001-04, then at UTEP, then his father's former team Montana State and he is now at DII Northwood here in MI), just to mention other examples.  Anyway, thanks for posting this link.  It was a fun and interesting read.

formerd3db,

You seem to be a great student of the game.  I don't know how to give good karma...but would if I could.

I look forward to talking football of the next few months.

You are most kind and thank you.  Welcome to the boards and I and the others will look forward to your posts and opinions here with the rest of us.  Once you get to 200 posts, you will be able to give and take away karma.  No doubt you'll be there soon. :)  Thanks again.

BTW, Alma, you need to get your self an Alma football helmet for your avatar.  All the cool kids are doing it ;)

Wally,

I need your help to get me sorted with that helmet.  It's a great idea.  Or...I'll have to solicit the help of one of my kids. >:(

Gentlemen, I've enjoyed following your insights on the league. I hope I can add the same and root for my bishops at the same time.

The OC has been named who was a current staff member. The offensive unit and schemes will be the same. Looking for progress and should leave off where they ended up last season.

Spring will be tough with a number of guys running track this year.

I believe they have a Baseball player as well.

I always like kids that play multiple sports. In this age of uber-specialization it's a sign of versatility and shows how you can be a time-manager.

Time commitment is enormous especially if you want to keep up in the classroom.  It truly does speak to being a good time manager.

Guess you're only a kid once.   ::)
