formerd3db,

You seem to be a great student of the game.  I don't know how to give good karma...but would if I could.

I look forward to talking football of the next few months.

I wouldn't take the karma ratings too seriously.  wally wabash and smedindy are both great guys who keep getting their karma sniped (and wally hasn't said anything remotely controversial lately) for no apparent reason.

formerd3db is the man, though.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

I'll do it for you, Alma.  D3DB is always on top of his game.

BTW, Alma, you need to get your self an Alma football helmet for your avatar.  All the cool kids are doing it ;)

Wally,

I need your help to get me sorted with that helmet.  It's a great idea.  Or...I'll have to solicit the help of one of my kids. >:(

Joe Wally and ExTartan:

Thank you also for the kind commets.  You guys are there yourselves, too, IMO.

AlmaFan:

Joe and ExTart should be able to help you with the helmet logo, although you can ask Raider68 also or even sflzman, your Alma colleague.  All those guys are computer savy, of which I am not.  Raider and others helped me with the helmet.  And Joe W is right about, what Raider68 coined as "The Helmet Club" of which we are members.  So come and join in, as Joe says. :)
P.S. We give sflzman, ThunderHead and Uncle Rico over on our MIAA board a "pass" once in awhile when they take a temporary hiatus from "The Helmet Club". :D ;)

Alma Fan, I've been looking for a jpeg of the Alma helmet to no avail.  Not much of a surprise in February.  Once found, go to the profile tab in the row in the upper left hand corner, click on modify profile and then forum profile.  The first option will be for you to create a personalized picture.

Ask Raider68.  He helped me get the Hope helmet logo.  Or also ask sflzman should be able to help.  He had the Alma helmet logo before for awhile as I recall.  I am a "computer illiterate" so I don't really know how to help you with that, sorry.

There's an Alma .jpeg at the Helmet Project:

http://www.nationalchamps.net/Helmet_Project/

You'll need to navigate to the MIAA section and then resize the jpeg once you snag it.

smedindy:
Thanks for the tip, however, we've all tried to use that as a source before and have been told you can't use the helmets here from that source anymore.  That is understandable re: the rights use laws, even when you are using it here for non-monetary use whatsoever.  However, when those were posted, Pat had to take them off our profiles and you have to get the helmet from another source.  At least that is what I had to do.  To my knowledge, that situation has not changed.  If it has, please let us know; I don't need it obviously because I already have the helmet logo from another source, thanks to other colleagues here. However, any new info would certainly be helpful for new colleagues to our boards, such as AlmaFan.  Thanks again.

Oh. I never knew that. That's the only place I know of. Sigh.

No problem, smeds.  Yes, I sigh too because that site is a fanstastic site and while I, again, totally understand the "use rights" laws and his concern over abuse of that, at the same time, he asks everyone's help in getting the historical information to complete all the helmet logo histories and it seems to me he would allow people to use it for the non-monetary uses only like here.  I would think it would be fairly easy to find out and then legally deal with it if he found out the logos had been used for other purposes.  Anyway, thanks again for trying to help.

Wow. It's odd, because there are several sites around that have images of baseball cards and people copy and post those quite a bit. Some of them even attribute!  ;)

Thanks for the work on trying to find the helmet.  Maybe it's best I leave it as it is right now, with nothing.  Son #2 is in the process of trying to determine where he will study (and hopefully play some ball) next year.

Had a great overnight visit at Wittenberg on Friday.

You know, you should have gone west on I-70, then hit I-65 in Indy and follow that to State Road 32 and head west. About 25 miles from that I-65 / SR 32 exit there's some college of repute!  ;)

There were some stories told on Friday night about the Witt vs Wabash last year.  Sounds like Coach F. was a little upset with the outcome...and communicated that frustration to the team.   :o  Good fun.

Coach F. probably needed to start with the man in the mirror.  He had two weeks to get ready, got outschemed to the maximum in that game last year, and did not one thing to adjust.  I don't think it was the players that let Witt down last year.  And it's not like they lost to a bad opponent there either...2011 Wabash was a pretty decent squad.   ;)

There is such a thing as "The Helmet Project!"  God Bless Us, EVERYONE!

Joe Wally:

Unfortunately, you can't use The Helmet Projects logos here.  It is not allowed by that site anymore.
