Sorry for the reply 8 pages letter but I was out of town for work. I didn't have a specific point about Wooster getting more respect as the reigning champ than Gheny did. But Wooster made it into the preseason top 25. I don't remember for sure, but, I doubt Gheny did. I don't mean that a rip on either school. It was just an observation. Nobody outside of Meadville seemed to think that the Gators could have repeated. And while everyone seems to agree that the Scots are not better off for losing Sutton, it's not inconceivable that Wooster could repeat.

P.S. Pat, I'm fairly certain that my post total was higher as well. I won't be upset or anything if you can't get to it. Thanks, again, for the great upgrades.

GoGheny,

He graduated a year before I got there.

BTW, I didn't play football for Westminny.  I was on the swim team, but I did have quite a few friends on the team.

GoGheny

Scotsfan,

I have alot of firends who went to westminny.  However, none of them swam there.  and just for the record Bill Luffy has a flatop.

If our bottom people CAN start to beat the UAA then that's a big start! And I'd rather play them than slum around trolling for games.

I really hope we don't go back to those red on red unis like the Red/White scrimmage photos. I remember those from the first couple of years I was at Bash. I like the Red on White better.

BashDad & Wally,

Anxious foryour feedback from the red & white.  Heard Don Juan ripped and the O-line looked good.  Keep in mind they ran the 12 minute at 7:30 AM and they held some guys out that were dinged a bit...Kimp, Parker, etc.

LilGiant - no worries on the all red uni's, it was a scrimmage...

Witt4ever,

I cannot seem to open the link???  Were their 2 articles in today's Springfield Sun on the '05 Tigers?  Can you post another type of link?

I hadn't heard about the OL that had the stroke.  I thought the Harmon move would have happened last year (to LB).

Witt4: works find for you because the page refers to files on your hard drive. You have links to your c: drive in the page. Won't work for anyone except you.

Bashbacker90:

Even more than other controlled scrimmages, this one was a little "hertie-gertie," partly because of a 45-minute rain/lightning delay after the first 45 minutes.  Format was a cycling of:  kick-off, eight offensive plays then kicking/punting.

Pluses on Offense:-
Harbaugh moved the team well with good time from the OL, mixing up short & long throws for good percentage and first downs, hit Sommers on a 45-50 yarder over the middle and then hit him for a TD from 18 out in the red zone.  Sommers, M. Russell & Walker were  WRs that ran nice patterns and stood out.  Walker dropped one that hit him in the hands early on.  Harbaugh was close on several other long routes, but timing/communication needs some tweaking.

Huff also played well, moving the team in once from the red zone with a short pass.

Don Juan Brown and Brandon Roop both ran well from the RB spot--Ogden is dinged and did not dress.  Brown was a major center of interest for me--he is very quick after the first step and racked up nice yardage: 4,5,7 yds at a time to keep drives going--I was impressed.  Roop, moved from the J-back spot always picked up 3 or more.  It's great that he is there to fill in.

Defense was sterling.  LB's and DB's Selby and Foster were very active in a defense that really worked as a unit and should be fine all season.

With Server moving to soccer (still surprises me), kicking duties are in the hands of Finley and Vaughn.  Both struggled early, but Finley came on with a good effort .
This, I think, is an important area to keep our eyes on.  L'il Giants need consistency here, and some booming punts.

All in all, we'll get a much better reading at Wheaton next Saturday.  Anyway, that's as I saw it yesterday.  Fun day but still some questions.

Server moving to soccer didn't surprise me - he's a heck of a soccer player.

Couldn't make the scrimmage - fam things going on - glad to see some looked good.

Saturday BW came to Wooster for a scrimmage.  Overall BW had the edge, both on the field and on the sidelines. The intensity level was much louder along the BW sideline and on the field.  This intensity translated into superior play on the field for BW.

Wooster, on the other hand, seemed to have left their intensity in the locker room.  This was especially evident among the younger players.  With the small senior class the Scots juniors need to light a fire under this team.

The Scots starting D-line + O-line should be fine.  The D- backfield still has some soul searching to do, as they were far from where they need to be for the start of the season.  They lacked the aggressiveness needed to stop the short game and overall the tackling was weak.  The running back situation was still a big question mark.  There was too much dancing and not enough hitting the hole.  The only backs that seemed to have the drive to hit inside and make something happen were Anderson and the freshman #20.  The wide outs had too many drops and poor separation on their routs.  The back-up #17 seemed to be getting the best separation.  Maybe the QB situation was some of the problem as Schafer was far from accurate.  The back-up QB seemed to be throwing the ball much better than last year.

The countdown is on, my bet is that Schafer and the rest of the Scots will get it together for Saturday's opener against Muskingham.   GO SCOTS!!!!!
