Any comments on the regional rankings???  Man, is the North region tough or what!!!  If Bash wins out to lock their #2 it doesn't look like they will have the easy 1st round game they had in '02 vs. MacMurray.  That game was gross!

Any other thoughts???

In looking at the 2-deep for the Wabash / Allegheny game - I am surprised by the lack of size with Gheny - on both sides of the ball.  Similar to OWU prior to that game.

Hey, where did obieparent/Mr. Vance go.  I'm bored and could do with some more of his rantings.

BB16 -

The West will scoff at us thinking the North is "tough".

North Central has a couple of tough CCIW games left. That means Wabash could be #1 regionally if we take care of business.

That being said, while I said earlier I didn't think they'd import a team here, I now do think that if Whitewater can go unbeaten in the WIAC they may be moved to the North, especially if Oxy and St. John's or St. Olaf remain unbeaten as well.

BB16:

Just posted Bashbrother's picks for this week on the pick-em board--he and family are fine, but he's angry that he will not be able to hear the Allegheny game on internet this Saturday--I'll have to keep him up-dated via phone from Mudville.  Mama's "honey-do list" keeps getting longer.

RE: Regional Rankings--DePauw must be surprised that they got no love in the South.  Might twist the tigger's tail for Nov. 12th.  ;)

Ok, I don't appreciate the Karma hit, either!   :-\

Since when was the NCAA concerned about competitve balance in these brackets?  Of course this would be the year when Wabash has a shot at the #1 seed in the North and the committee would even things out a bit by moving WW into our region.

I did some mapquesting to see how reasonable it is for WW to play in the north region travel-wise.  I was hoping for much bigger numbers than this, but it turns out that Whitewater, WI isn't up in the boonies like I'd hoped.  Anyway, here's the mapquest driving distance from Whitewater to various schools that are likely to be in the North Region bracket:

North Central - 126 miles
Wabash - 306 miles
Lakeland - 107 miles
Mount Union - 500.43 miles
ONU - 407 miles
Alma - 365 miles
MSJ - 400 miles

The only school that would require a flight is Mount Union by about a half-mile and I'm guessing the NCAA would round down there.  So there are no flights involved which means it's a perfectly viable option for the NCAA.

For comparison, here are the driving distances to West regional teams that could get in:

St. John's - 386 miles
St. Olaf - 306 miles
Concordia-Moorhead - 539 miles
Monmouth - 214 miles
Coe - 206 miles
Central - 311 miles
Wartburg - 248 miles
Linfield and Oxy are obviously going to be flights.

Basically WW could play through the entire North Region without causing a plane trip.  There could be a plane trip at some point if they stayed in the West, but there's going to be plane trips in the West no matter what happens.  I think this could go either way.  Of course, the point is moot if North Central goes 10-0.

Wally, I know what you mean about the NCAA moving a Wisky team into the north region.  In '96, under the old constricted playoff format, Mount and AC were ranked 1st and 3rd nationally at the end of the season yet AC ended up 4th in the north region to make first round travelling costs more convenient for everybody.  Mount won 31-26 and then proceeded to crush everyone else on their way to yet another national championship.  I guess you have to jump the big hurdles sooner or later anyway, but it would've been nice to see a longer playoff run that year as that team showed it was the second best in the country.

I'd have to say that I think they'd move WW down even IF North Central went unbeaten.

Anything to save the possibility of plane travel and I think that's it more than anything.

Oh, and I think DPU not being ranked is more on point that they lost to Wesley, which just got obliterated. Also surprising that Huntingdon isn't ranked, either.

Where do you get the 2-deep for the games? Does just Wabash do that?
Thanks
