The Indiana North/South All Star game is happening tonight.  Sources indicate that there will be five future Wabash men playing tonight.  Depauw will have one future player in the game.

Scores like 47-0 and 45-7 matter.

Franklin is the only other Indiana D3 school with 5 in the game. (Trine has 2)  Too bad Wabash and Franklin are not on each other's schedules at this time.  Top two Indiana D3 Football programs at this time.

Franklin's program success in the past 6 years and playing UWW (2010 playoffs) & (last year twice) & Mount (This year) among other things are really helping with this.   I respect the heck out of the way your program is being led right now......   It is a shame, that we cannot get each other on the schedule again.... maybe soon after our UAA agreement ends....  '06 & '07  were tremendous football games.

I have a question. When can we have the conversation regarding Zurek where we--out of genuine excitement because holy ****--overstate his potential impact on the program, toss out emphatic predictions for his career, and use phrases like "next step," "national elite," and "Chris Morris?"

Now? Next month? Let's schedule it.

This is it for the UAA thing...next year we in the NCAC go to a full round robin in league play.  Also next year Wabash gets the second half of the home and home with Hanover.  So 2014 at the earliest, but remember that there's only one elective game and I don't know exactly what the right way to schedule that one open game is.  Depends on if Wabash opens up that first week for a game (h/t to Lil Giant for noticing that the future schedule indicates that maybe just maybe that could happen).  Also, I think Franklin, seeking further challenges for their program have scheduled a home and home with the Bengals in 2014-2015.

That kid looks like a load and has moves.

Another highlight of a Wabash recruit Eddie Cmehil - Ritter 2A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUF2klQ664s

Highlights of the Franklin kids I found, two RB recruits and a LB. Two kids were leaning Wabash.

Zach Rooney - Warsaw 5A (he'll be a slot and return guy) Initially was leaning Wabash, but things happened to work out at Franklin.  http://www.hudl.com/athlete/594604/zach-rooney

Cody Hess - Mater Dei 2A  http://www.hudl.com/athlete/142601/cody-hess

Nate Bryan - North Putnum 2A  Was leaning Wabash Initially.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ec2uIQdDsvg

Dude is big and it is deceptive.... in a couple of the highlights he looks a little slow but he breaks away from everyone........  Bravo!  We'll take him!

gofor7pitt -   Some talent their..... Zach Rooney will serve you well.  Hess looks scrappy and Bryan looks like a Wabash linebacker.....

Strong defenses keep teams in games, which should help the NCAC on a national level if some teams can spring non-conference upsets. I like the idea of the NCAC keeping a hold on the #2 seed in the North!

Personally, I'd like to have Wabash face an good OAC or CCIW team in the non-conference but I do get the idea of intra-state rivalries as well. Having a full-round robin in the NCAC is best for the league and Wabash, really, so that one non-conference game needs to be top flight.

Man, I didn't have a lot of info on Zurek but he looks tough.  I have to think Mike Skinner helped land him and should prep him on what to expect at camp.  I liked what I saw in the highlight clip - for sure!

BTW:  Wes Chamblee getting his workout Wednesday with the Tampa Bay Bucs!  Good luck to #84!!!  From Twitter last night:

According to sources the ‪#TampaBayBucaneers‬ have workout scheduled with former Wabash WR/KR Wes Chamblee http://college2pro.com/articles/320/n ... ‪#NFL‬

I'm hesitant to forecast anything with certainty, especially knowing that anyone can look good on a highlight tape, but...wow.

Being relatively young, I've only got a few points of reference here, but this kid looks better on tape than some very good Division III RB's.  The footwork, the pad level, etc.  He looks like a better version of my former teammate at CMU, Travis Sivek, who only racked up 4000+ rushing yards and 59 touchdowns in his career.  That was just before we played the NCAC-UAA schedule, so you guys may not know him, but that's who came to mind for me when I skimmed that highlight tape.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

IMO, a 6' 200lb RB with very good skills is going to look very good on film vs mostly 2A opponents. His plays vs 5A Merrillville are not as impressive as the others on the film.  But hey, if he runs a 4.5  40 then he's probably going to be a great one for Wabash.

While Andrean is a 2A school now, they play in a conference with mostly 4A schools. Now some of those schools are not exactly the cream of the crop - OK, let's face it, some of them suck pretty badly - but they include Munster (5A), Griffith (4A), and Lowell (4A), schools with some tradition and good coaches. I saw him run all over Munster (which has one of the nicest field turf stadiums in all of Indiana HS football). Discount the highlights from West Side, Hobart, Highland, but he was a stud against Merrillville, Munster, Lowell, Griffith, etc. too. He led Da Region in rushing and touchdowns, so that's nothing to sneeze at. He'll be a good edition to the Wabash sidelines for sure.

How they lost to Wheeler in the 2A Sectional Final is a mystery to almost everyone. I think Wheeler had like 10 yards of total offense in the game, but a pick 6 and a load of fumbles led to their demise in the 2A playoffs last year.
