Good question, bashbro.  I think Hometown Sports carried their September game against UWW last year.  I have no idea if they are going back there this year or not.  I can't find any links or notes whatsoever to a vid stream coming from Franklin itself.

Wally -

Hometown doesn't have the game on their schedule?   I sure hope something materializes, I would like to see that one.

I should hope so also.  I would probably head down for that one as part of an ICAC reunion tour (Franklin on 9/1, Hanover on 9/8), but I think I'm in Nags Head for the Labor Day weekend, so no football for me on week 1.

In the first half of the UW-W playoff game, Franklin's sophmore QB was 21-36 for 214 yards and a TD. He was a sophomore. In two quarters, against the best defense in the country, Mr. Jonny West, sophomore, put up more yards than all but two of UWW's opponents could muster, in full games, the entire season. That muh fuh got accustomed and quick. Is UMU's D any better than that squad? Nope. No sir. They are not.

If Franklin puts up 14 in the first half of the UMU game, they'll be winning.

OK Bashdad.  Read your analysis and I am a fan of your insights.  It has kept me from raising the level from "beat bumps" (which is win by about 28) to "Monkey Stomp" which is more than 28.

A monkeystomp is actually 21.

However quantified, monkeystomp has to be more than "beat bumps"... What I'm not sure about is where "taken behind the woodshed" would fall on the scale.

It looks something like the Bell game last year (Monon Bell game...I need to be specific about bells with Hanover guys).  They actually have a woodshed right there at Blackstock, which was really convenient.

I honestly wasn't aware of those stats from the playoff game in Wisconsin.  There's really nothing I can counter with at this point.  I guess we'll have to see.  I just hope there is internet connection where I'll be in North GA and that my soon-to-be wife won't mind me watching the game if there is an internet connection.

At some point in our lives (I'm 35), we'll see Mount come down from their perch because LK will retire.. and we'll be debating games like this to decide the North Region Championship between conference title teams from the NCAC, CCIW, OAC and if Leonard is still there -- Franklin.  I think we're closer to that now than at any point since 1994 -- but not quite all the way there.

Maybe the game will be streamed through the HCAC web site? Here is link

On Franklin:  Obviously Johnny West is talented but what supporting cast does Franklin have?  I'm being serious here.  What about their D?  Do they have some studs on that side of the ball?  I see they have a 6'1 260lb OL on the pre-season AA squad.  I'd like anyone else's insight that may know more about their personnel.  Leonard is an offensive genius but what about their D year in year out?  That's what's held them back from that top tier in my opinion.

You might have that one confused with an a** kicking.  Maybe we can get this all worked out in a d3football poll?! lol

If you can't already tell Pat we're starving for some actual football games to talk about.   :)

Less than or greater than "taking them out behind the woodshed"?

Ok,  as we are a little over a week away,  lets make some NCAC predictions:

Here are mine:

Upset of the Year: Case Western over Wittenberg

Newcomer of the Year:   John Laird WR -  Wabash

NCAC Offensive Player of the Year:   Chase Belton QB -  Wabash

NCAC Defensive Player of the Year:   AJ Akinribade LB -  Wabash

2012 - Monon Bell Game  Over/Under 50  -   I'll Take the Over (54-0)  ;)

Biggest Turn-around Team  -   Wooster 7-3  (2011 - 4-6)

Conference Game of the Year  -   Wabash at Wittenberg - (10/06)

Biggest Blow-out Hiram @ Witt - (11/03)

Surprisingly Close Game  Wabash at Wash U - (10-13)   Depauw at Witt - (9-15)

Why should you go for it on 4th down?

Case over Witt I don't think is a big upset given the recent pedigrees.

My biggest upset pick: OWU over Allegheny. Just a hunch...

I think Case beating a team at the top of the NCAC,  which they haven't done, is an upset.  Sure, there are plenty of bigger upsets,  but this one would have a big impact on both schools.   Case has been accused of dodging the two traditional NCAC powerhouses in the regular season,  now is their time to step it up.   Case, needs the win for their playoff hopes and Witt might need this win for Pool C consideration.

Is the 'dodging' Case's fault or the NCAC / UAA powers-that-be? I can see that Wabash would have received a steady diet of Chicago and Wash U. thanks to proximity and the proximity of the rest of the Ohio gang to Cleveland.

It will have a huge impact for sure. Of course, if Witt doesn't beat Cap then the impact for Witt is lessened.

I'd say if DPU beats St. Olaf then that's the huge upset. I give it a 25% chance of happening, so I'm not going to call it.
