the thought of tyrell playing for that team up north makes me sick. glad he wisened up. it's amazing how good mich-gan can be every year once they have nothing to play for. what a sorry waste of talent. i hope tyrell rolls for 300 tomorrow and punishes that team up north's soft defense. can't wait for 11/19 in the "quiet house"...

interesting topic lancer...i actually played against debevoise my soph year. he was good, but that entire team was stacked. you won't find that many division IV teams that talented. i thought casey williams (DE) was their best player, but again, it's tough to stand out on that team. i'm surprised you didn't mention michael lochner though...big-play WR and a dominant CB.

as for college...for defensive players, duerr wins hands down. i've never seen anyone at any level dominate like he did. ike reid (OWU DE) gets honorable mention here, especially considering some of the stories i've heard about that dude...glad i wasn't his roommate!

offensively, gotta go with sutton. he was a TD waiting to happen, even more so than donaldson, ream, capone, bowers, etc. chad peterman (woo OG) also deserves mention here. he was a nightmare to play against, so i wasn't exactly thrilled when we had a few scout team injuries my freshman year and i had to play some scout DT. those were some long practices.

as for opponents only, knott, gheny's G-C-G combo in '00, and matt leisure (OT from witt) get my vote. knott pretty much carried bash's offense. as much publicity as he got, i still think he was vastly underrated. easily the best qb i've seen at this level. especially with their wing-t scheme, gheny's middle 3 linemen were nasty. and leisure was a bad, bad dude. never understood why he wasn't playing D1.

darkside--you're thinking of sherrod duncan. he was too short to get on rides at amusement parks, but boy could he run.

DarkSide-D

This has nothing to do with College ball...but I noticed this was discussed a bit on the OAC board.

Who is goin to win the Massilon=McKinley game today.  Anyone have any thoughts.  Bashers might not care all too much, being a Northeastern craze.

I personally am leaning towards massilon.  Coach K is a god!

I forgot about Duncan from Ursinius.  He was a great player if for nothing else you underestimated him and he definetly didn't play to his 5'3" size.

Ravishing, I do remember Lochner's name but I don't recall him being anything special.   A good player yes but not worth a mention in some of the best players I have played against.  Of course you have Matt Stanley who was pretty good if you really want a Bexley name.  As for Debvoise, he did play with a lot of good players on that team but he was fast and when you tackled him you knew it.  The thing was he only weighted 170 lbs.

You will also remeber Donnie Nickey(Ohio State, Titians) from JA.  We actually beat them 12-6 despite his 190 yds rushing.  He had a 94 yrd TD against us. Needless to say that is one guy I failed to catch and am not embarassed about it.

Darkside: Massillon has the better tradition; McKinley is playing at home (but very near Massillon's home); it appears Massillon has played the tougher schedule. Without knowing any more about the teams, I pick Massillon by 4.

FranK:

Massillon had the better tradition when they voted for the state champ. After the playoffs were initiated Massillon has shown their true colors and McKinley has the better tradition! Massillon has beaten two very good teams so they should have the edge but this rivalry, like all big games, is usually won or lost by turnovers and adrenalin.

Wabash holds Allegheny on the opening drive.

36 yard TD pass Harbaugh to Summers.  PAT is no good.  Finley has missed three straight PATs going back to last week.  Grrr.  10 plays and 75 yards on the drive for Wabash.

Wabash 6
Allegheny 0

Still early in the first quarter.

8:11 left in the first quarter:

Hiram 10
Wooster 0

Wow.  Tracking....

Wooster drives inside the Hiram 5 yard line and gets stuffed on 4th down.  Hiram ball, Terriers still with a 10-point lead.  And Hiram immediately gets out of the hole with a 32 yard pass.  Again...Wow.

Wooster finally gets on the board with a field goal.  10-3 Terriers, just under 10 minutes left in the half.

10-3 Hiram at halftime....at the Papp.  This is unbelievable.

Reiff is in for Shafer?  I bet they are holding him out for the last 2 weeks.

Hiram had an 83 yard pass play!

Harbuagh to Russell for a 4 yard TD pass.  Harbaugh is picking the Gheny defense apart.  7:53 is the time of the drive...broadcasters are making a great point about Wabash's ability to control the clock all season.

9:10 left to go in the 2nd quarter:

Wabash 13
Allegheny 0
