Here's the Kenyon box: http://athletics.kenyon.edu/x22206.xml

Kenyon is playing without their stud RB now.

Hey, Wally suckered ME both weeks - I (nervously) picked 'bash to cover both times!  (This partially explains why I am not leading pickems!  ;))

Only 8 days ago posters were still discussing scenarios of Denison as champs!  Somehow that seems so long ago; a team requiring OT to beat Earlham is NOT championship material!  Despite getting burned 2 weeks in a row, you'll need to set a pretty big spread for me NOT to pick the Giants!

wally_wabash

Kenyon was in the championship conversation...not so much with Denison.  But it's easy to get those schools confused.  :)

Kenyon is actually still in the conversation.  They'll need Wabash to lose to Denison next week, but they're not out of it yet.  Expect a pretty large spread for the Wabash/Denison game next Saturday.  The game is a title-clincher, on Senior Day....that's not a good time for anybody to visit Hollett.

"That which does not kill me makes me stronger" (bad plagerism) ... applies to Wabash.  The last 2 games ... "wham" the team has to respond ... someone must step up ... AND it does/they do.  A sign of a good mature team, comfortable in its structure and coaching.  Both Witt and 'Gheny threw their best ... as well expected they would.  Wabash took the variables and got it done.  Good Job ... Good Job.

The Denizens will be dispatched and - hopefully - senior day will be fun.  Hopefully people get well and "weller".

DePauw will be a war.  We will need all our skills and confidence to handle the variables which WILL occur in that game ... they always do.  So ... Witt. and 'Gheny ... you helped us.  You made us stronger.  Thanks.

Now ... 'Gheny ... win out ... especially ... beat Witt.

Mr. Ypsi

Oops, Wally, I WAS mixing up Kenyon and Denison!  Maybe I should go back to the CCIW and stop embarrassing myself!

Nah ... it's fun even if I did follow a 1-4 week with a 2-3 week!

BTW, apologies for not thinking of the solution for the Giants' kicking woes in time: Eastern Michigan had the day off today, our kicker (Andrew Wellock) was the runner-up for the Lou Groza award last year ... I'm sure we could have snuck him in somehow! ;)

Is Dustin the answer for the next three years?Maybe so.
Never have so many points been scored in such a short period of time.  Whatever Schmitz said at halftime should be marketed and sold to all players and coaches everywhere. I'm sure he wasn't drawing plays on the board.
I guess Witt is the second best team this year.  Like I said before, a quarterback carrying the ball 20 some times ain't good. At least not against good teams.
Hiram-great effort. Keep working at it. How long has the Hiram coach been there?

Speaking of kickers.  I have seen several top notch HS kickers this year.  This is a big year for DI graduating kickers, so it will be tough to land a big time kicker.  We will have to work hard to get 1.

It sounded like we were very sloppy today.  Hope we will be focus to make our title run against Denison.  Really hope no one is looking towards the Bell game.  Sometimes that easier said than done.  As always.

ravishingrabbi,

'that team up north' 33 - Tyrell Sutton's team 17.

I haven't seen Tyrell's stats yet, but they can't have been very good - his name was hardly mentioned after the first quarter.

To repeat an earlier post, I would LOVE to have him in Ann Arbor (where apparently he also wanted to be), but I really fear he would have been buried on the depth chart.  RBs have trouble moving up based on practice; it is game time where they make their mark.  I'm not sure he would have ANY game time by this point.  OBVIOUSLY he ought to be challenging Mike Hart for the starting position (IF he were here), but I just don't think things would have worked out for him to have the chance.

I think things worked out best for all concerned - Tyrell is making a helluva case for playing on Sundays, and Michigan still has 4 RBs that would start for a majority of d1 teams.

I'm not giving up on our kickers just yet.  Finley and Vaughan can both boom....I don't know what the deal is with PATs this year and especially in the last few weeks, but they're both better than this.  And they're both sophomores.  Unless we get a deposit from a serious stud kicker, Finley and Vaughan are going to be kicking for Wabash through '07.

Before you get too warm and fuzzy about Reiff, keep in mind that he was playing Hiram today.  And last I checked, Schafer still had a year left and I'd find it hard to believe that Reiff would start over a healthy, senior Schafer.

Time to beat Denison Saturday...send the seniors out right, finish off the undefeated conference season, and then turn all focus to Depauw.  They have something that belongs to Wabash.  For two more weeks anyway.   ;)

The only thing I saw Tyrell do all night was a nice 10-yard run, then a nice 8-yard run capped by him fumbling the football, and having it run back 80-some-odd yards by a Michigan defender for a TD.  He's an amazing freshman running back, but he's still a freshman running back.  He'll get a better grip on the ball with time, though.

Thought I'd chime in on this Michigan/Sutton discussion.
QuoteFurthermore when he is out of the lineup, Michigan's rushing game becomes subpar bordering on the anemic.
Mr. Uible,  I guess that the 252 yards that Michigan dropped on Northwestern without Mike Hart is a pretty subpar effort? ::)
And one more thing...
Quoteit's amazing how good mich-gan can be every year once they have nothing to play for. what a sorry waste of talent.
ravishin,  Michigan only has one more loss than the Buckeyes, and quite honestly, the Buckeyes have more talent that was wasted this year than do the Wolverines!  BTW, I was in A2 for the PSU game and I can tell you it wasn't the "quiet house" as you like to think it is.  The Big House was as loud as I have hever heard it and I'm pretty sure it will only be louder on the 19th of November when Michigan beats OSU!

Scots: One game does not have statistical significance. In all but one of the other Big Ten games and the ND game Michigan rushed for fewer than 150 yards.

lancer - i think lochner had 2 or 3 long TD catches and 2 or 3 picks against lakewood your senior year...thought you might remember. what's incredible is he was 1st team all state in soccer and second team all state in football (wr/cb) in the same season. but you're right, stanley was a beast. he actually started at FB for UCLA for a year and a half, and scored a long TD in the 'shoe. you would know about how hard debevoisie ran a lot more than i would, cause i was probably busy getting my ankles broken. did anyone off of valley's team that year do anything in college? cant believe i forgot this guy, but keiwan ratliff (whitehall) was hands down the best player i saw in HS. unbelievable speed. he set the record for picks in a season at florida, and now plays for the bengals. coach cooper missed out big time on that guy. think about him and gamble at the corners...then dustin fox could have played free safety instead of nickey, making that national championship defense that much better. did you think nickey was very good? maybe it was just the nature of our game, but none of us were really impressed with him. he was definitely very fast though, and i think he really improved with better coaching at osu. alder's qb could play though.

michigan fans - i'm not a northwestern fan, but i do root for every team that plays michigan. tyrell didn't have a great game, but he's got big 10 frosh of the year locked up. too bad the northwestern receivers couldn't catch a cold! michigan definitely was fortunate with that, cause those guys were wide open.

i was at the "quiet house" in '03 for the osu game in the middle of the student section. i've been going to ohio state games since '87, and the 'shoe is literally at least 10 times louder. michigan fans are just like their team - soft. when it's third down and michigan is on defense, you would think 110,000 people could yell and make some noise. but no...they literally stand up, mouths closed, and JINGLE THEIR KEYS. keep in mind that was arguably the biggest game played at michigan in a long time. i have no respect for that. then, earlier this season, the president of the university sent out an email to the entire student body complaining that students stand up too much during games, and threatening  people who stand up excessively with removal from the stadium. definitely a football tradition to be proud of. in contrast, on EVERY DEFENSIVE PLAY in a big game, let alone the michigan game, ohio stadium is going nuts. 100,000 people could jingle their keys, and you wouldn't even notice.

we'll see what happens 11/19...hawk, kudla, carpenter, holmes and the rest of the boys have a little gift in store for you, very similar to last year's...if northwestern's receivers could beat michigan deep, what do you think holmes, ginn and gonzalez will do? henne will be on his back all day, just like last year, and again, michigan can't stop ohio state's offense.

anyway, not a bad 2nd half for the scots yesterday! 56 points has to be a record...hopefully the offense is ready to click heading to springfield. anyone know if schaffer can play against witt? wooster's out of the playoff hunt, but these next two games are huge heading into next year, and would go a long way toward salvaging this season.

Quotetoo bad the northwestern receivers couldn't catch a cold! michigan definitely was fortunate with that, cause those guys were wide open.
And the fact that Basanez was running for his life because of the pressure he was feeling didn't have any affect on those incompletions either.  Yes, some of those drops were catchable, but a lot of his throws were either over or under thrown, and his recievers made their fair share of circus catches as well.  Bottom line, Michigan's D stepped up in the 2nd half and shut down what was arguably one of the hottest offenses in the country.
Quotehenne will be on his back all day, just like last year
If he was on his back all day than how did he end up with 300+ yards in passing?  Henne played a good game.  It was the defense that let Michigan down last year, and that defense that everyone likes to criticize has been playing very much improved all season long.
lastly...
Quoteyou would think 110,000 people could yell and make some noise. but no...they literally stand up, mouths closed, and JINGLE THEIR KEYS. keep in mind that was arguably the biggest game played at michigan in a long time.
Maybe the fact that OSU was pretty much dominated on that day left you feeling a little bit sour.  I know the Big House has a reputation of being soft, (too many elderly alumni >:()but if the game is tight, like the PSU game, the Big House will be rocking!

Looks like the voters were impressed with Wabash's escape at the Mud Pit. They move to #20, vaulting over Central who dropped a spot while winning.
