Might be a little of both. Central keeps escaping and keeps escaping. Not inspiring confidence.

I've been a bit under the weather this weekend so I'm a bit slow in posting the Wabash Victory HaikuTM:

Gators give a scare
Wabash holds on for the win

Congrats to Witt on a solid win.  I was able to watch it and OWU got dominated.  Their offense is total garbage.

I'm loving the OSU-Michigan smack talk.  It will be a great game.

I know its a bit late, but here are my best opponents:

Defense: Safety Derek Fox (Dustin's older brother for those of you Buckeye fans) who played for Penn State.  (played against him in H.S.)  He was a man among boys.

Offense: Tie between Cie Grant, who played QB in H.S. (again a man among boys), and Jamaal Robertson from ONU.  He was ridiculous.  He actually started a game for the 49ers last year I believe.

I am truly sorry to hear that Ryan Holmes was reinjured in the Wabash game.  Yes, it was a hugely important game for Witt, but my fears that it was just too soon for him to be back were obviously not unfounded.  I wish him the best as he finishes his degree.

I now can say that I have seen the two best teams in the NCAC and they are very impressive. Wabash and Witt are not that far off in my book, other than their records. Both teams have very good size, excellent defenses and skill players, and they both dominated OWU. OWU's losses have come against IMO three playoff caliber teams, Wabash, Thiel, and yes Witt.

I am going to take solace in the fact that OWU is the third best team in the conference irregardless of the records. I know Oberlin and Wooster have a chance of beating them but unlikely. OWU is at the corner with the blinker on but they are not yet the team that can turn the corner. It is frustrating to watch them play so good against good teams and play not so good against excellent teams.

Oldguy: That garbage of an offense seemed to score some big points against other teams, give your defense credit. I enjoy watching OWU's offense and unfortunately their offense wasn't clicking against Witt, probably because of Witt's D.

Something I can be real excited about is that Jr.'s high school broke the state record which was established in 1968 by winning 45 regular season games in a row! It all started when Jr. was a freshman. Their schedule was not weak, they have beaten several ranked teams in their class and larger classes during that span.

Little Giant kicking woes lie mainly in the coaching staff. If they spent anytime at all with the kickers it'd make a huge difference. It will cost them in a close game.
They basically ignore their kickers yet expect them to "perform" when called upon. Totally unfair.

It also should be noted (and has) that Finley missed only the first XP and was pulled.  He wasn't pulled just for not being able to make them, but for a broken toe on his kicking foot.  He broke his toe early this week, and they fashioned a cast for it, it worked for punts, but clearly didn't help his already mediocre XP performance...

On another note, Finley can drill FGs from 40+, but can't make the XP.  I don't understand it.

What is the deal with the negative karma, did I offend someone? Does whoever not want to debate what irritated them?  ???

Kcreds, better tell junior not to look past the Scots.  Even in 01 when Woo finished 4-6 and Bishops went 8-2, it came down the last play of the game.  Woo has a history of having the Wing-T under check.  Perhaps the reason it wasn't clicking against Bash and Witt is because their defensive staffs know what it takes to stop it.  A team can get all the yardage it wants going east and west, but until the ball carrier runs north and south, its pointless.

With that said, OWU-Woo should be a close one.  Lets go Scots, time to build soem momentum for next season.

I stumbled across this post on JJHuddle.com, and was curious what others on this board thought about it (if it is in fact true)

Quick summary: R.J. Meadows, a freshman running back from Ohio Northern who rushed for 148 yards and three TDs against Mt. Union and was pictured in S.I. last week, was apparently on his way to transferring to Wooster from a state school in Tennessee this past summer. When a Wooster coach(es) relayed this info to the ONU coaching staff at a clinic, Northern, who apparently did not know who this kid was before,  took a chance and sent Meadows some info. He visited ONU and ended up going there instead.

Meadows is from the same high school in Tennessee (Beech) as Wooster linebacker Andre Smith, which would be the reason why Wooster would have known about him and why Meadows may have been interested in Wooster.

Has anyone ever heard of this type of "switcheroo" before?

OWU gains 44 yds in 1st half...punts on first 8 possessions...24-zip at half?!!! Very frustrating, again; as Bishops flirt with a successful season and a lock on second place, to the reality that they will win only one of the last two games. LG's can now look to The Bell and a NCAC Championship that many of their faithful bodly predicted in the summer pre-season. GO BISHOPS

seinfeld:

Very interesting story.  No doubt some would criticize that tactic, however, I don't see that any wrongdoing took place, based on the information presented.  In recruiting a prospective student-athlete, sending information (or contacting them, within the allowed regulations of the conference or NCAA, of course) is fair game, regardless of how a coaching staff was informed of a potential recruit.  The kid made his own decision, which is his perogative, just like he would do if he went and visited several schools on his own.  I am not sure at the time I wouldn't have changed my mind had I known about some other schools when I was looking/being recruited (albeit mildly regarding the latter ;D) "many moons ago" had I known about some of them (however, I'm glad I ended up where I did and would do the same again).  On the other hand, just goes to show us that assistant coaches should be careful how they share their prized potential recruits, even at DIII.  Sometimes, a little bragadosio can backfire! ::)  ONU's gain, Wooster's loss.  Sometimes you win, sometimes you don't!

Good post Seinfeld

That is very interesting.  If it is in fact true, I am sure the coaching staff at woo will be keeping their mouths SHUT in the future when they are looking at some good players.

Also, I wanted to wish all a Happy HALLOWEEN.  MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Darkside-D: I can't speak for Jr. or the team but I hope the senior leadership will inspire the rest to finish strong. My opinions are based on what I have seen and read about Oberlin and Wooster. I'm not ignorant to the fact OWU could lose both of those games but they shouldn't. It comes down to execution. I don't buy into the negative talk about the Wing-T. I don't care what offense teams run, if you don't execute, you don't win. I don't blame losses on the Wing-T. There are plenty of pro and college teams alike that don't win and they run several different offenses. Don't forget, it takes defense also to win games. I'm not big on stats, wins and losses are the only ones I care about, so I base my opinions on observations and my 34 years of playing, coaching, and watching football. I'm not ever saying that my opinions are gospel but that they are just my opinions. I am also open to other opinions and may change mine if I believe someone has a valid point.  I've seen OWU play some pretty darn good football this year on both sides of the ball against good teams. I don't believe any of their games they won were against bad teams. I just don't think Oberlin and Wooster are on the level of Wabash and Witt nor are they even close. I do reserve the right to change my opinion after OWU plays them.  ;D Go Bishops!

Woo - Night + Day

1st half  -  Woo was outplayed and still in a play calling FOG.  4th + 1 and they run a sweep.  I always thought that the shortest distance between 2 points was a straight line.  At this point I was convinced that the powers to be had no confidence in their O-line, all-American and all.  The QB had receivers wide open but just didn't see them.  The FOG was everywhere.  Speaking of a FOG, the D was not exempt as they were unable to apply pressure to the QB and support to their corners.  The FOG, you could of cut it with a knife.

2nd half  -  FOG lifted!!!!!  There was a rhythm, a rhyme and a reason.  The D was everywhere and the play calling used all of the team's strengths.  GO SCOTS!!!!!

Reality  -  Is the FOG gone forever?????  +  The special teams (especially kick-off coverage) needs some tweaking – far to many yards per return.
