Before we leave the POTW thing entirely, let's remember than Wabash's Nate Scola WAS the NCAC defensive Player of the Week for his work v. OWU:  11 total tackles, 3 tackles for loss, one and one-half sacks.  Someone from Wabash was recognized.  It would be worth researching, if only to confirm or not,  how long ago it has been since players from the same team have been POTW in the same week.  I suppose it's happened, maybe. or has it?

It does happen from time to time.  Two Kenyon players were PotW for performances in their game against Oberlin on 10/6.  PotW isn't archived (at least obviously so) on the webpage, so that's as far back as I'm going to dig.

But of course, since I pulled this up, here's your NCAC PotW scorecard:

           O          D
   Allegheny      x      x
   Denison
   DePauw      x
   Hiram
   Kenyon      xx      xx
   Oberlin      x      x
   OWU      x      xx
   Wabash      x      xx
   Witt      x      x

Geez, Wally - have you surrendered your day job?   ;D  Impressive work, regardless.  ;)

Rather surprised at an archival shutout of Denison's RB

I would guess that Denison is going to have a great chance to get some PotW recognition this weekend.

Fioroni or Paulus would be a PoTW lock if they could play against the Denison defense.

No question.  Food was great. Best part of that day.  Wooster lost.  This has been a couple years ago.  They close early on Saturdays I believe, so if you go there, got to eat before the game.  Not too far from the stadium.

Does anyone know if Oberlin will be bringing their interpretive dancer to perform at halftime of the game with Wabash this Saturday?

wabco

The one accompanied by the floutest and the violin player?

Wabash by 35 points .... and then the week after ... by more than 50 ... we have to do better than Witt ... maybe the Dannies will fire another coach.

Here's my take on DePauw/Denison.

I do think DePauw is improving week by week.  They've looked a little better every time out since CMU.  Last 3 losses are by a combined 8 points. That said, 19 turnovers in 8 games is a bunch.  -5 in turnover margin in 8 games isn't good.  I think the offense is starting to get out of the mud a little bit the last few weeks.  Defense is under 20 points per the last 4 games.  It's marked improvement, albeit against far from the best this conference has to offer.

I think I'll learn a lot about what exactly I think DePauw's chances are in the Bell game.  I don't think they're very high anyway, but it might be the difference between "hey, maybe we can hang around for a while and make something good happen" and "they're just going to flat blow our doors off".  Right now, I believe the former is still possible, but if Denison does dirty things to the Tiger D in Greencastle, I'll be changing my tune.

Temporary interjection from your regularly scheduled programming...I'm not posting this on ALL of the D3 boards, only the places where I post regularly and "know" some of you (and if this isn't allowed here, I'm sorry, just remove it...no harm done).

I'm competing in a "Tough Mudder" adventure race next summer in memory of a slain police officer from my hometown to raise money for the Wounded Warrior Project.  The young man was 25 years old and good friends with some of my high school football teammates, one of whom was his partner on the police force.  If you can spare a minute and 5-10 bucks, I'd really appreciate it if you went to the following link and donated:

Many thanks,

Monon ticket sales down from previous years

Monon Bell tickets are for sale online and can be picked up in the Old Gold room in the Lily Center. Online purchasing ends tomorrow at noon, but tickets will be available for purchase during this Saturday's football game.
Ticket sales to the Monon Bell Classic football game at Wabash College are struggling as this year's matchup rapidly approaches.

About 1,000 of the 3,200 allotted tickets have been sold for the Nov. 10 game, according to Athletic Director Stevie Baker-Watson. That number is down from previous years, according to Director of Media Relations Ken Owen. There are 2,199 tickets left for students and alumni to buy from the university.

Typically around this time, the game is either sold out or there are only a few hundred tickets left, Owen said. The last time DePauw played the bell game at Wabash in 2010, only around 300 tickets were left unsold.

Baker-Watson was not sure why ticket sales were so low, but said that traditionally DePauw does not sell out when the game is at Wabash.

She also said that students may not realize that they have to buy the tickets. She stressed that tickets for away games are never free, but that the university usually handles the cost for students at home games.

Owen said that less alums may travel to the game because the game is now easier to access online.

Tickets can still be purchased online at the DePauw football homepage until to noon today.

Tickets, which went on sale Oct. 22, will be sold at this Saturday's home football game and at the Lilly Physical Fitness Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for $15. These sales will be cash only.

I know this is my first post, but reading the triple take and the question of which team has the most interesting turnaround? And OWU is mentioned over Kenyon? Im not a Kenyon guy or Kenyon Diehard, I moslty follow the east region teams but Kenyon had a 23 game losing streak and now they are atleast .500...And with Kenyon being nationally known for academics, they will probably only get better... Just was something that I found interesting. That Coach at Kenyon and his staff are definitely "Changing the Culture" which most of you laughed at....Probably should be the Coach of the Year in the conference.

Good Luck this Weekend.

Interesting question, Kenyon.  I think one could argue that Kenyon's season to date is even more surprising than OWU's, although who REALLY ends up with the "most surprising" title in the end does kinda depend on the last two games.  While OWU has had a season beyond expectations, if you really carefully consider their schedule, they might have reasonably been "expected" to be 4-4 or 5-3 at this point.  Nobody thought Kenyon would win a game (as has been pointed out, they were picked behind Hiram in the NCAC preseason poll).

Au contraire -- we thought they would win a game.

But it was just one game. That's true, Kenyon also has had an impressive turnaround.

Admittedly, I predicted that Kenyon would beat only Earlham this year and finish 1-9, 0-7 in league play.  Whoops.  Monfiletto has done a great job getting that team pointed in the right direction.

I still don't think I would give him CotY though.  Not if there is a coach out there who played two 9-1 teams, on the road, and is responsible for those "1s" on the record.  I know that performance vs. expectation is a big part of that award, but come on.  You know who else in the nation will have two wins against 9-win teams in the regular season?  Nobody is the right answer.
