Looks like rain and wind will be a main player in the NCAC this weekend.

Indeed, BashDad.  Anybody who was at that game in '02 will never forget it.  One of the best games I've ever seen.  I still get tingly when I watch that game now.

Smeds:  he may be a super soccer player, but Server's choice still surprises me because it seems to fly in the face of Wabash tradition--a 2nd team NCAC pick for a player who led the NCAC both in FG's & FG percentage in '04-- and he chooses to change sports in his senior year?  Still, he's a nice young man, is serious about his academic life as a student--I wish him well.

There's more to this story, for sure.

Sorry if this has been reported, but I saw that Aaron Lafitte, who transferred to Arizona State from Wabash, has apparently quit the SunDevils as well.  He participated in their spring practice, but did not return for the Fall. http://www.azcentral.com/sports/asu/articles/0813asunb0813.html

Wow.....that's interesting?!  I wonder where Lafitte is now?

scotty

what if any, would be his options this year...was he a walk on at ASU?...

That's very odd. He'd have to set out a year - maybe he didn't realize that. I don't think he can play at a juco, since he already has two years of eligibility burned.

Hmmm...

Smeds:
He had to know that there would be a sit out year.  Do you know whether NCAA rules require him to be actively enrolled during that sit out year?  I would assume that he had to be an ASU student to participate in last spring's drills (where he was very successful), but...?

Hey Wally, Do you have a video of that game?! I wasn't there, and I've always wanted to see it. Any chance that we could work something out so that I can get a copy or borrow it from you? You know I'm good for it.  :D  I'll pay postage and whatever else you'd need.

2.7 seconds. An average football player may need more time to score; a great one finds a way. I've seen greatness happen.

I have a copy of the game.  Would be happy to get a copy to you.  Just let me know how to get it to you.

There is much more to Mark Server.  He is a great kid.  I wish he was out kicking FG's for us, but he is representing the Lil Giants.  Just not where most of us would like him to.

Wooster depth chart notes:
Sean Anderson is tops at running back.  Good luck Sean, you been waiting in the wings a long time.  The jury is still out on the wide receiver combo of Gerts and Marshall, time will tell.  Farmer and Geffert have a lot to prove at corner.  Geffert is blessed with good size and should have an advantage against the bigger receivers, but can this combo come up and shut down the outside running game?  Shermbeck and Vitalbo have some big shoes to fill at linebacker.  A question with a returning starter, can Mizac avoid the dreaded yellow flag?

re: the discussion last evening concerning Lafitte's not returning to Arizona State U. for the fall term, and my own question whether a required sit out year must be while enrolled at the new NCAA school.

I reviewed the NCAA transfer guidebook this a.m., and, if I am reading correctly, the "academic year in residence" phrase says that, yes, he has to be enrolled and meet academic/other eligibility guidelines to be eligible after a one year sit out.

It would appear that a Jr./Community college (to shore up academic record?) might be in his future--but that's a guess.

Anyone have any other thoughts?

wally_wabash

I don't think it's fair for us to speculate on this situation...we have no idea why he's not at ASU.  It could an academic thing, it could be a money thing, it could be a family thing, it could be a football thing...it could be any or all of those things.  It could be none of those things.  Who knows?  We certainly don't.

I think the best thing to do here would be to collectively hope that he's doing well and that he gets back into school and finishes his degree...with or without football.

Just curious to hear the latest on Tony Sutton.  What ever happened to him...?  Any NFL looks?  I was fortunate enough to acquire his jersey from his last collegiate game and was looking to hear what he's now doing. Thanks!
