Not so fast my friend...

From what I've been told, they aren't putting up bleachers on the east side, rather will roll out portable bleachers. The new track and pits for the field events I believe make a visitors stand difficult, since it backs up to a city street.
"Then once again ye Wabash Men, three cheers for Alma Mater. What'er befall, revered by all may she unequaled stand."

I hadn't heard that.  Makes sense, I suppose, since there's about 200 people who ever sit there except for the Bell game.

As far as Wabash defense goes looking at the stats looks like they could be extremely good for at least the next 2 years
Tackles
Akinribade Jr. 48
Woods So. 45
Scola Sr. 42
Buresh Jr. 39
Wilkins Jr. 30
McCullen So. 20
Hodges Jr. 19
That's a pretty strong core for the next 2 years

Add this experienced youth to what some "sources" say is going to be the best recruiting class in years and the future looks very bright in C-Ville.

I believe there are seven incoming Wabash players who participated in the annual Indiana North-South All-Star Game this summer.  That game is not exactly what it used to be because some of the larger schools will no longer allow their recruits to play--potential for injury, I guess.  Even so, seven is a big number.  Several other DIII schools were represented, but not with that kind of number.  Way back, I recall five Wabash players in the game:  the Knott era.   Lately, there have been maybe two or so a year, and some years none.  Matt Hudson played in the game years ago--as a defensive back!

So who are some of these future Giants?

As we always say on the Board, nothing is certain until they show up on campus (and register); let's wait.  Wabash has never announced its recruiting class, and I want to respect that.  Nowever, there are ways to access the North-South rosters.  Thanks.

I know there are many great games every week in DIII and I am certainly biased, but I am very suprised that a trip down to Greencastle is not included in the "Best DIII Roadtrips". There are not many DIII games that consitently draw that many people. I would think that the atmosphere, let alone the game, would warrent a visit.

^^^ But what other games are nearby with different kickoff times?  The point was a road trip to see multiple D3 games in one weekend.

Well, as long as you do not mind missing a whole night of sleep, you could drive from the game in MASS to Indiana  ;). I guess I assumed there would be another Friday or Saturday night game somewhere within driving distance. A knee-jerk reaction due to the awesomeness of the Bell game, I should have known better than to question the staff though.

Wabash's preliminary 2013 roster has been posted so we can probably answer this question....here are the N/S all stars that are scheduled to join the Little Giants this week:

Austin Brown, QB Griffith
Drake Christen, QB Lawrence Central
Thomas Allgood, RB/DB Scecina Memorial
Connor Ludwig, LB Brownsburg
Deryion Sturdivant, OL Westfield
David Boyer, TE Southport
Alex Parrett, WR Cardinal Ritter (Alex caught a TD for the South in the all star game)

If you're playing along at home, the N/S All Stars scorecard is:
Wabash 7
Franklin 1
DePauw 0

I counted 39 total freshman on Wabash's 2013 roster.

In the description, I specifically talk about that: "There's only one evening kickoff in all of Division III and we need to get into the neighborhood."

I know BashDad was on this last year...and I know this is totally out of place in this forum...but I might be straddling the fence a little on Franklin/Mount Union this year.  Maybe just a little bit.

It will be interesting to see if Kehres to Kehres is a seemless transition. I would assume it will be, but you never know.

Was checking out Hanover. Their first game is against Illinois College which has been improving each year since Wabash faced them in the playoffs a few years back.  Last year the Blue Boys were 8-2 and put a whipping on the H Panthers 51-28.  Hanover is picked 2nd in their conference ... except, after Franklin, there is not much in that conference.  Last year they were 6-4 overall ... being 0-2 against non-conference.  So ... while Wabash seems to start its first game each year against teams who are on their second and usually has some first game rustiness to overcome; given the talent on the roster, freshmen coming in, and starters/lettermen coming back  ... I look for the Panthers to be a good first game opponent to chew on, work out Wabash QB issues ... and a team which will ultimately be 0-2 after their first 2 games.
