This Saturday is Senior Day at Wabash, a change from the past when the Seniors were honored at the final home game of the year==or the final home game before the Bell Game when it was on campus.  Congratulations to the entire group.  So far at Wabash they are 28-5 (.848 winning record).

I just found the press release at the bottom on the article.... I'm not that smart.. ;)   I have been looking at the Press Release section of the Wabash sports page waiting for it to appear.

It's past 3:30 and no one has yet mentioned it, so I will.  Blessings to all those who lost loved ones and friends on 9/11.  This is another day when we all should think of the advantages we have living in the U.S.A.  The plane went down in Shanksville, Pa. just short of an hour's drive from where I was raised. I've seen the spot and dropped my head there.  Brave men and women on that flight.  Special men and women who lost their lives and who tried to save them at several locations. We are in a long engagement testing a nation "conceived in liberty and dedicated to the proposition that all men [women] are created equal."
Wabash was one of the teams that decided to play that Saturday v. Wheaton in Little Giant Stadium.  DIII schools made their own decisions.  I don't think any DI games were played that weekend.  Both Wabash and Wheaton took the attitude-we are not going to let the b-----ds stop the events of the country.  Whether this was right or wrong caused some debate at the time, but I think it was the correct decision of two college presidents.  It was also the correct decision of those schools that decided not to play.  Peace to all.

Well said.  It's hard to strike the right tone of respect when discussing tragic events while balancing the need to move on and live "normally" moving forward.

Aside, where are you from then, sigma?  If you grew up within an hour of Shanksville, you must be from someplace near either my home for my first 18 years (Wyomissing, PA) or the 9 that have followed those (Pittsburgh).
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

ExTartanPlayer:  grew up on the Westmoreland County/Fayette County border.  Graduated in the last graduating class at Scottdale High School, the Scotties.  As you might guess, Wabash alum.

Last year he did,  they are great!   If they are doing it this year,  it should be up by Friday online.

I'm actually on a bus right now headed to the Pentagon train station now on the way into DC for a show tonight. It's been on my mind all day for sure. Great words as always, sigma one.

I will never forget that day and I will never forget that game the following Saturday.  Otterbein was at Mount. I was running the scoreboard.  It was predictably kind of solemn pre game.  I'll never forget watching the captains shake hands then stand hand in hand alternating Raiders and Cards as they faced the flag and everyone sang the national anthem. Chokes me up even today.  What a great country we live in.  A blessing we too often take for granted.
