I am so excited for the game this week.  Hopefully we see a hard fought injury free game. With the records of both teams gentlemen it should be a good one.  See you in Greencastle!

how come no one ever mentions ncaa's quality of wins?
is this not seen as valid as massey?

also, i am wondering if we are not seeing a down year (in ncac, mt union loss, etc) but more parity in d3?

Bashdad:
Friend, I appreciated your pre-weekend message.  Congrats on the win.  How exciting for Wabash - an undefeated regular season in the grasp.  Yes, in a way, if you guys win next Sat at the Bell Game, it will be a kind of "payback" for us Hope guys for the DePauw pasting we had earlier this year.  Good luck next week.

As you already know, Hope stepped up Sat; however, one tough game left vs. Alma.  Although we are at home for the final, I'm sure Alma will be primed since they lost, er, were smashed yesterday at Albion.  It is Albion's AQ to lose next week.   Take care; talk to you later and hope you enjoy next weekend.

old wabash, the QoWI takes into account only the records of your opponents and not the records of your opponent's opponents.  That's a better measure of strength of schedule.  The NCAA actually called this thing a strength of schedule index last year, but were compelled to change the name to more accurately reflect the measure.  Most of us would have rather they changed the formula to reflect the name.

wally, thanks for your comments on the comparison between 02]05. it seemed to me the running game was better in 02 but then again w a qb playing as well as harbaugh its tough to argue to run the ball. that said you will need to be able to run it to get deep into this postseason. that is my fear w ncc from the cciw. they are very similar to wabash. shotgun, great qb, spread you out. quick on defense, solid special teams. i would love to see a cciw/wabash matchup in the playoffs. I believe you guys have the #1 seed locked up w a win v depauw saturday. homefield throughout the playoffs, muc style.

Plus the QoWI is based on regionality, if I'm not mistaken.

Point of clarification:  I was not stating the '05 Little Giants were a better team then the '02 squad - I want to make sure that is on the record.  I tried to cite the areas this team may have a leg up.  Conversely, not sure this team has a player like Hammer that can take over a game on D, nor a player with the leadership/intensity of a Boulais.  On O, as mentioned, no big play back like C. Morris along with the Knott to Short connection which was lethal.

Just the fact that this is being discussed is a huge compliment to the '05 team.  I think everyone knows (including the players) that they are clearly not on that level yet - more to prove.  This Bell game will tell us a lot!

As someone stated earlier, the Dannie site on the Monon Bell is pretty cool.  The highlight clips are great along with all of the history.  If any of your NCAC'ers have not seen the 2001 play - Knott to Short to Casper, check it out, it is still amazing... http://www.depauw.edu/news/index.asp?id=11760 - my favorite part is to hear the DPU announcer!

That's right, QoWI is based on regionality as well.  Wabash's game vs. Wash U. doesn't count on our QoWI.  The best QoWI belongs to Wesley, and only half of their games have been played in-region.  So even QoWI comparisons need to be taken with a grain of salt sometimes.

Usee - To say that Wabash doesn't have a dominant running game and doesn't need to run because of how well they're throwing the ball is a bit misleading. Wabash has actually run 55 more run plays than they have pass plays this season.  For the season the LG's are getting about 4 yards per carry, which is decent, but not great.  It's effective enough to keep defenses honest, and that's all Harbaugh has needed to operate efficiently.  If Wabash were truly one dimensional, I think it'd be safe to say that the passing game which has been so lethal for Wabash would have a tougher time.

The passing game gets all the attention at Wabash, but Creighton's offenses have been far more balanced than people realize.

The FOG has returned or maybe it is just a bad dream, somebody pinch me, please.  If it is a dream, Sat. at Witt was a Woo nightmare.  This defeat is definitely the low water mark for Woo over the past 4 years.  It even surpasses losses to Oberlin + Kenyon as they were at least competitive games.  Woo was soundly beaten in every facet of the game by Witt.  With a junior laden team, its obvious Woo is shooting for next year but it's hard to be optimistic after such a complete thrashing.  This week against Wesleyan will tell a lot about Woo's chances of a title next year as it will define the character of the staff and players.

Sorry to interupt the Wabash talk, but Kicker, you clearly misunderstood me.  I was making a joke on the off chance Ben still reads this page.  He is well on his way to being the next Morgan though (which isn't neccessarily bad).  Let's take a look: Florida breeding?  Check.  Inability to drive?  Check.  Fat to skinny?  Check.  Humourous meltdowns second semester freshman year?  Check.  Fat kid family?  Check.  Worked up the depth chart from little used lineman to big time contributor/starter?  We'll see.  Being Morgan isn't all that bad, if you take away the videogames and wussy stuff like girls from Minnesota.  I am glad to see Kicker9 is still alive and kicking, I was afraid that little gem was gone from my life forever (the name, not you).

Russ was named the NCAC offensive player of the week. It will be interesting to see if he makes the team of the week here.

Just think if he completed that ONE pass...

I know...20-20 would have been awesome.  Would have broken some more records.  But that one incompletion was the result of the receiver tripping...not anything Russ had done.  He was about as dialed in as you can get on Saturday.

OWU played solid against Oberlin. It was actually OWU's passing game along with their great defense that won it for them.  Sir Louis was definitely rusty but he toughed it out. I hated to see the seniors play their last game at home, a great group of guys. I know talk about Wabash will dominate this board here on out, as well as it should, but I am looking forward to Wooster. I think the seniors want this game bad.

I think that Witt's big win over Wooster does not mean Wooster is bad but that Witt is still a close second to Wabash as the conference's best. I'm not looking at their record as much as what I have seen first hand. Good luck to Wooster this week. Go Bishops!

Ski,

I don't know if I would call it a FOG, as much as  an offense designed for a specific individual.  That individual being Schafer.  Now, keep in mind I did not see the game on Saturday, and I don't know what type of offense Woo ran, but I am guessing they ran the same offense as they have been all season.  An offense designed for Schafer.  A pass dominated offense.  Well, when you have that type of formula, and the key ingrediant goes down, it can make for a long, long afternoon.  Hopefully the guys on the team haven't desided to pack it up for the year.  If they did, they will be embarassed at home.  If they decide to go down swinging, then OWU may have a long day on saturday.

Hopefully, Woo will be able to bring in some more weapons this off season to help supplement the talent they have this year.  I personally believe Woo needs to build up its running game.  Then again, maybe Tony Sutton just spoiled me.
