We got two teams in 2009. In 2010, Wabash was left out thanks to their loss to Wash U. In 2011, Witt lost to Huntingdon which doomed them.

Tough way to end the season waiting on a wing and a prayer.  I cannot remember two teams from our conference getting in recently, although I am sure it has happened.
Next year hope springs eternal.  Witt's quarterback is a senior, right?

Wabash beat Witt in the second round in 2002.  Eleven years ago.

But, the question was when the last time the league got a "C", it was 2009 when Wabash traveled to IWU and lost.

9-1 and sitting at home is a tough pill to swallow, but without a single quality win and an 18 point loss to the only good team on the schedule makes it the right answer.    The other  Pool C teams all had much better resumes.   Even SJF with 2 losses.   Hard to argue with SJF's quality wins.

Hard to argue with SJF's quality wins.

It's not exactly easy to argue in favor of their losses to a two loss team and a four loss team.

Of course, that four loss team (Salisbury) lost those games by a total of 21 points to three 8-2 teams and Wesley.

And they were ranked much of the year (in and out).

It's not like they lost to North Park or Kenyon.

This is where the OOWP part of the SOS plays into it.

Look, I'm just as frustrated as anyone. But I'm realistic, and the NCAC needs to try to get its teams to schedule smartly for their one game they have. While it's not going to matter a lot, it could matter a little and a little may be enough.

A legit point.  So let's see...Washington and Jefferson gets in and they have "quality" ::) wins against a 7-3 Wooster, a 5-5 Grove City, a 3-7 Thiel, a 4-6 Westminster, a 0-10 St. Vincent, a 5-5 Geneva, a 7-3 Waynesburg, although they did beat a very good 9-1 and champ Thomas More.  They lose to a good SJF team but also to a 4-6 Bethany-which kind of cancels that out.  So I guess that they figure since W&J played SJF and Thomas More, that counts more than Wabash's schedule.  Seems to me that Wabash gets penalized for being in a less competitive conference.  Regardless, the problem comes when you don't win your conference and then with 1 or 2 losses, some good team is always going to be left out.  Too bad Wabash get's hosed again. ???

W&J got in because they won their league. They only enter any calculus because the South region ranked them 10th thus garnering a RR win for SJF.

Of course, the West probably howls at the MIAA champ being ranked, since they're so loaded.

Oops! My bad, smeds. :-[  I looked at the wrong column.  You are partly correct, though as they actually tied with TM for the conference title, but win the AQ because they beat TM and thus win the automatic bid due to "head to head" tie-breaker.  But,...you must admit that were that not the case, my argument might have had some steam! :o ::) ;D.

But, I also agree with you about the MIAA statement! ;D (and since it is our rival Albion ;D)

So any word on Wabash recruiting? Any visiting hopefuls at the Monon Bell game?

smedindy

My irrational side feels like 1982 and 1987 (losing a playoff chance to those...people). Sigh.

The last quarter of Wooster vs OWU was what college football offers every now and then. Thank you Wooster for a great year of football and congratulations to our strong contender for Coach of the Year.  Mr. Barnes, hope to see you next year.

I think Bash was treated fairly. Scheduling a weak Hanover team makes them all-in against Witt.  Had they played a playoff quality opponent they would have probably gotten in.  The NCAC is not that far up the ladder from the HCAC.  The only difference is there are two good teams and a bunch of mediocre or bad teams.  One of the the two worst teams in the HCAC had a win against the NCAC.
