bashbrother you make a good point about the OAC. I said the same thing at ohiocollegefootball.com. I think it is time to take another look at just how good the OAC really is. It may have been living off the Mt. Union reputation for too long now. Serious consideration in the future should be given to the NCAC also. I will never understand this pool b and c stuff for picking teams. It seems though no matter what the sport a quality team is always getting passed over because of this system. I guess it makes sense to others and I might understand it myself someday but when I see a quality Wabash football team passed over or a national power in lacrosse like Denison get passed over it just doesn't seem right. Hopefully someday the NCAC will get the respect it deserves and if a there is a deserving team it will get picked and not looked over because of preconceived ideas about the league. Wittenberg can go a long way next weekend to gain that respect for the league. I have seen Mt. this year. That is a fine team to be sure but they are not what they have been and Wittenberg showed today they can play with anyone. Good luck next week Tigers. Mt. is going to lose sooner or later and this is as good a time as ever. Oh by the way, I wouldn't doubt that the Tigers block a raider punt also. Their punter seems a little slow getting off punts sometimes.

Ohiofan -

You'll always have people being slighted with any playoff selection.

The pool system is set up to allow championship access for all - which is an excellent system. You'll have someone complaining if you're the fifth team out of four, or the 33rd team out of 32. The solution that fits the d3 ethos is what we have. It can be tweaked, yes, but all conferences and teams should have some access to a championship.

Congrats to Witt.

I was mulling this over, and I know I'll get chewed up for this, but l have a thought about the aq process. What if D3 did the same thing that the bcs did. As in, if you are an aq and not in the top 25 you shouldn't receive the automatic bid. Then, you get the best teams.

Thoughts?

The corrupt and evil BCS, who went out of their way to make sure worthy small conference teams weren't allowed in. Yeah, let's emulate that.  ::)

We should never disenfranchise a winner of a conference. That causes more problems than it solves.

I'd rather have the D1 football championship be 16 teams - invite all conference winners and then make the at large selections. And maybe with a playoff, the conferences COULD revert back to 'normal' and not whatever they did recently.

But I digress...

Corrupt, sure. Evil? A bit much.

Thank you for the defense of the d3 system. You will have to forgive me but I am still fairly new to the d3 scene. I have found I enjoy d3 much more then any other division though. I hope you forgive me for having my main interest in a team that will never have to worry about being considered for any playoff system. Maybe that influence my thinking just a little bit.

A nice video clip of Franklin's game winning play from last Saturday:

^^^^Thanks for posting, Griz.

Particularly helpful because the full broadcast was so painful to watch.

I find easily offended people rather offensive!

That would be sweet.  Go Witt!!

Also very happy to be rooting for Witt this week. Florence is inching closer and closer to the single-occupancy tier of quarterback that Knott established a decade ago. For me, thats a compliment you can't improve and a comparison you better make only if you mean it. Which I do. I hope that dude goes nuts on Saturday.

I believe it is already in hillbilly English (certainly, at least, in hillbilly spelling!).

I suspect jettssss is either a drunk-as-a-skunk freshman or a fat-fingered dude typing on a mobile device (or perhaps both).  And English appears to be not even his third language. ::)  (I'm sure the other Wabash fans are SO proud to have him rooting for the LGs! :P)

Schwami

Yeah, whatever, if Witt is overrated, where does that leave Wabash?

I'm rooting for all Tigers this weekend - Witt against the Machine and Hampden-Sydney against Linfield  :o - after all, the farther they go in the playoffs, the sweeter it will be when the LGs bag all of the Tigers next year ;D
Long shall we sing thy praises, Old Wabash
