Also, let's not act like Witt is the first team to ever have coaches that did that. DePauw's press box, in particular, is not conducive to potty-mouthed coaches, as they sit directly in front of home radio and directly next to home video. I've found that schools who have a separate area for coaches are typically the worst when they travel to a place where they are forced into an area shared with others or in direct contact with fans.

Yeah, it'd be nice if all coaches would be PG-13, particularly when you're in the vicinity of youngins, but that's just not going to happen.

Sad but true.  However, doesn't speak well for coaches who do that or the example they are supposed to project for our young people (or claim they that they do). :( :)

Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving to all of you. Hope you enjoy your day with your families or however you are spending it.

I guess it's all about context. Everyone who knows me offline knows I curse like a sailor. But way I talk in the world at large isn't the way I talk in court.

It's allowed to happen. That's why it happens. If my head coach told me not to, I wouldn't. He doesn't, so I do.

Alright...back in the midwest after spending a week in the desert stuffing my craw with all manner of delicacies from the American Southwest and of course a traditional Thanksgiving gorge fest.  I hope you all are having a great holiday as well.

So let's talk some football.  Specifically, Witt vs. Mount Union.  I've thought about this one a bit today and here are some things that keep popping up in my head.

- Witt has a million seniors, all of which got a taste of the postseason last year so this isn't a new thing.  I mean, playing in Alliance is a new thing and not like any other playoff game, but if there is a group that can shake that off pretty quickly, it's going to be this group.

- I mentioned that this group has a million seniors.  Even better is that they are peaking.  It's cliche and I'm pretty peevish when it comes to cliches, but in the last three weeks this team traveled to Crawfordsville and put an excellent Wabash team out of the game by halftime in a championship situation, took a victory lap on senior day, then totally dismantled Lebanon Valley.  I don't know a ton about LVC, but I know that they were ranked 2nd or 3rd in the East before getting beat in week 11 and they were a league champion so they weren't a bad ball team.  Witt made them look pretty bad last week.  That's the kind of beatemdown that is generally reserved for top seeds playing 2-3 loss league champions from lesser leagues.  That's not a final score indicative of a 3 vs. 6 tournament game.

- It's good that they are playing their best ball because nothing less will win tomorrow.  We've seen this year that good offenses can score points against Mount Union.  Franklin did it as well as Heidelberg and John Carroll.  I think Witt has an offense in the same neighborhood as those teams.  Better if Sean Gary can get going and Wittenberg can play a little keep away from Kevin Burke.

- I think it's going to take 35 points for  Witt to win this game.  Nobody has really been able to keep Mount Union and Kevin Burke out of the end zone a whole lot.  I think somebody, maybe Witt, can beat Mount Union this year, but nobody is going to win a 17-14 game against them.  Not without the help of mother nature.

I think it's going to be a whale of a game tomorrow.  I think Wittenberg is ready for the challenge.  I think Reed Florence can be excellent enough to win the game.  It's a huge challenge, for sure.  Mount Union is great.  Witt has the horses to trade blows with them.  I see a back and forth game tomorrow...maybe decided by which great quarterback gets the ball last.

It's not gone well. In a 14-0 hole early. Muffed a punt inside their own 10 which led to a TD. Drove all the way down only to throw an INT. Cathedral just hit about a 60 yarder after a shanked punt. Not the kind of start you need against the Irish.

Voicing continued displeasure. It's really, really disappointing that the UMU/Witt game is not streaming.

Was at the game.  Cathedral is the better team, but turnovers and penalties were the real killer for Westfield.

Same bitch on the OAC board.  I was contra but have found Jesus.  I give them $100 a year ... Hell, I'll give them a freakin' webcam!

You got a great QB.  And so do we.  Should be a classic tomorrow!  Safe travels.

Good luck to Witt tomorrow. I hope y'all can get it done!
