Hard to believe only 8 days till the Gentleman's Classic and you could here a pin drop in here. Guess I was thinking there might be a little more banter between two of the better teams in DIII. Anyway, it will be fun to see the LGs Saturday scrimmage against a very good Wheaton team, how the returning players progressed over the summer, and how the new blood looks.

GO BASH!

A case of too much time. It's been talked about and analyzed as much as humanely possible. Kind of like the Super bowl. By the time it arrives you've exhausted all topics.

Plus, there's no history so no "hate". No sense in talking smack about someone you've never played before.
Either that or everybody's trying to live up to that Gentleman's Classic sobriquet.

Looking forward to that! I think it will be interesting to see what Wabash does to combat the air attack that the HSC air force will be bringing to Hollett Little Giants Stadium. I haven't seen much film on HSC but from what I've read sounds like they run an offense similar to last years Wittenberg team. With Holmes and Zurek healthy hopefully Wabash will be able to control the ball on offense, eat up some clock, and keep the HSC offense off the field. I believe the two big questions for Wabash this year are going to be special teams and the play of a young offensive line. Guess we will find out a little bit about both Saturday against Wheaton.

GO BASH!

According to weather.com it is forecasted to be 89f with 50% chance of Thunderstorms on game day. Heading to The Hill today to watch HSC scrimmage Fork Union Military Acadamy's post graduate team. Athletically FUMA should be very talented. But in the end they are all still freshmen. Still a nice tune-up for the regular season.

Scrimmage or some kind of reenactment?

Best way to combat "air force" is for its QB to see lots of sky ... from being set on his backside.  And team Buresh + AJ with a stud MLB (who in person will surprise and will please you) ... coached by a defense pressure magician ... is the ticket.

PLUS ... RBs (including a frosh RB who will probably not see play due to a little ding) and a stronger faster Putko with a couple of fine receivers should put points on the board.  O line young but coming together just fine my sources report (by young ... mean no seniors but also no frosh so system is understood and experience is there as they played a good deal last year in blowout games.)

Don't believe will see much against Wheaton ... pretty bread and butter ... check punting and kicking game, work the  line, shake down the D line/LBers ... but not too much.  Play some younger players.  Try a couple of QB ... but  not too much.  Everything coming along.  No need to ding up good guys in a scrimmage.  Sets are pretty well set.  See what newbys can do.

And HS experiences Little Giant stadium and LG fans, the team comes out of the tunnel entrance, the chant, would not be surprised if we take O if win coin toss, fans up ... the first of the three Tiger games.  If LGs take  ... expect a shakedown running game of stop me if you can leading to 7-0 before HS airforce meets the Bureshes and AJ and our MLB.

Now we're really scared. Maybe HSC should not show up!!!! Having played Linfield, HSC knows what it is like to play the #2 team on the road. I know you guys are good but you're no Linfield. I look forward to the challenge as I've heard nothing but great things about the Wabash experience. As far as the game goes, I think you;ll be impressed with our defense as well. Does not get much press as compared to our Offense but the guys on D can play. Hopefully that all adds up to us watching a really good football game.

What you need to understand about the Post Grad program we are playing today; 85% of those kids are already committed to SEC, ACC and Big 12 schools. Just don't have the grades at this point. This program has sent over 100 guys to the NFL over the years. Best athletes HSC will see all year.

Don't remember mentioning Linfield.  Just responding to an earlier Wabash post about talking about the game and what the strategy might be.  Didn't even smack at HC even a little bit.

Interesting selection of scrimmage team though.   Will stay with Wheaton.  Good school and good guys.

Wow... these Tiger's are a bit sensitive.    They are on our board,  reading our fans being excited about our team and they keep saying "Maybe we shouldn't even show up?"

It is kind of silly to suggest that Hampden-Sydney, which has its own 8,000-fan archrivalry game and played its most recent game in the Catdome would experience something significantly different at Wabash game day.

Tigerfanalso - Wabash fans have a great deal of respect for your Tigers and expect a good game next week.  Part of that is based upon how well they did play on the road against Linfield last year.  Having seen Linfield play, I know that they certainly have an excellent program.  Your conclusion that Wabash is " no Linfield" is based on your own personal conclusions.  Since Linfield and Wabash have few common opponents, it is hard to draw such a conclusion based on anything other than supposition.  You are most welcome to discount what Wabash will bring next Saturday for whatever reasons you want.  I can assure that by knowing the high quality of Linfield's program and the good game that your Tigers played them last year on the road  in the Catdome, Wabash is not under estimating your Tigers.  How well the Tigers and Little Giants match up will be settled on the field a week from Saturday, and not through philosophical discussions.

There's an important issue sort of percolating under the surface here...Catdome.  I'm looking at pictures of Maxwell Field and I'm certain that we shouldn't be calling it a dome.  There is no roof over that field.  You could call it The Cathouse or Cat Box- both are acceptable alternatives.  But Catdome is right out.

The Linfield fans ae very proud of their dome however as you stated there is no dome. It is however a great D3 venue. Look forward to enjoying a Wabash experience as well.

I've made this point before and been shouted down. I figure it's just a regional thing. I know what a dome is, but it must mean something else in Linfield. If they weren't so darn good year after year I'd consider the Litter Box but it's just hard to make it stick when they are consistently kicking rear...
