Exactly GOBASH.  Even though we had key injuries in 2003.  KZoo still handed it to us.  They always seem to play us tough.  Since they are not playing a scrimmage, does this mean we do not have to trade film of our scrimmage with Wheaton?

BB765,

You'd think that there would not be a trade considering they will not have anything to trade.  Who knows what kind of offense they will run???  That makes it difficult to scheme?  Don't quote me on this but I believe the plan was to trade scrimmage films - mutually.  Now that won't happen.

BashWins - can you shoot over tomorrow and film their (K-zoo) practice???  HA!

I still say their '03 squad was pretty darn tough with a 4-year starting QB, some good receivers, a stud 225 lb. running back and a senior heavy defense that darn near beat Knott & Company in '02.  Their numbers hurt them that year (depth) as usual but they were very competitive in the MIAA.

BashBacker ... what happened to "16"?

K-zoo has gone to "run silent run deep" ... I would also if I had to face the Bash defense the first game with a new coach. Will check the local K-zoo papers and report.  I predict a thrashing of Hornets, the likes of which will radiate throughout K-zoo's remaining season.  It should be of the vintage of the last game Metzelaars played against them in K-zoo ... men among boys.

I think you're understating how good K'zoo was in '03.  Their qb was a 4-year starter and the best qb in K'zoo history (he holds nearly every career passing record at K'zoo).  Their rb was one of the best they've ever had....in fact, he broke the school's career rushing record in the Wabash game in '03.  They also had one of the best receivers in K'zoo history (you can find him in the top 5 of most career receiving records at K'zoo).  And then they had a senior laden defense and a junior linebacker that went on to be an AA and played in the Aztec Bowl in '04.  There was no shame in losing to those guys on that day...they were legitimately pretty good.

That's your username. You can always change your handle by editing your profile, just like on the old board.

Pat - tried that and was unsuccessful.  Had to cancel and re-registered, when I did, it stated that BB16 was already in use???  I sent you an email too.  Help?

OK ... here is what the "press" reports on K-zoo:
60 on the team
26 are Frosh (which means 34 are Soph and up)

new coach (Brooks) who has a "strength coach" backgrund

claims will run a "west coast offense" ... then comments on running to get there.  claims there is more strength and speed.

3 QBs competing for start ... lead position is on starter from last year

14 "starters" return ... although the term "starter" appears to be attached to anyone who started a game or two.

Translation:  It will be feeding time at the Zoo. Coach Brooks will not be able to find enough "stength" to keep their QB from spending the afternoon looking at the blue sky.

wally_wabash

I'm hoping it's feeding time...Wabash ended last year by losing three straight at home.  The last time we lost three home games in a season was 1990.  I can't find the last time we lost three in a row at home in the one season.  Wabash needs to put a thrashing on K'zoo if for no other reason than to reestablish Hollett as a place where other teams just don't win.

Wabash lost three games at home last season?  So much for the vaunted home winning streak and all the talk that Wabash can't be beat in Crawfordsville we heard so much about last year.

BashDad

Last year was last year.  Bring it on Lancer98.  A new streak will soon be underway.

On the eve, scotty, on the eve.  We have questions in C'ville, but are confident that this will be an exciting NCAC season.

You are right Bashdad.  This will be an exciting season.  This is definitely my favorite time of year.

Even though Witt is favored, there are a couple of potential landmines in Meadville and Crawfordsville.  Should be fun.
