Congrats to Hiram. HCAlum86 was pretty close on the score too.

Denison gets Wabash next week. I'll go out on a limb and say that if they have 8 turnovers against Wabash they won't be within 2 scores at the end of the game.

Hiram just let the conference know that they are for real. Teams better not take them lightly. Congtats Terriers.

darn, couldn't make it to Hiram last night. Just not enough time to get there from Gambier. Hope to catch the Wooster game now. Oberlin had a good game but since they were playing Kenyon I guess you have to take it for what it's worth. Nice performance but I though Michigan looked good when I went to see them a couple of weeks ago also. Still Oberlin looks to have a good running game. Wooster will be a much better gage of where they are at. Kenyon upgraded McBride field adding some bleachers and chair back seats. Nice job by Kenyon on that one. Kenyon is still Kenyon in football though.

Sir Battlescars

I just noticed Hiram plays Alleghany next week and has a real shot at starting the season 3 – 0! How long has it been since that's happened?  It would be great to see them have a .500 season.

Does anyone have a good idea of what Wooster is like this year. It could be really interesting if Hiram goes in there at 3-0.

You've got to go back to 1987- Hiram started 5-0, had an 8-1 regular season and qualified for the playoffs.

From 2002-07, Hiram won just two games. From 2009-12 Hiram won just two games. Now, they could go 3-0. Tremendous!

Could not be happier for the Terriers!   A great story already about a team that is obviously starting to believe in themselves.

Go Hiram!
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

I agree; Go Terriers!!

I wonder if you guys will be able to keep up the congratulations if Hiram beats you in the next year or two!! ;D

Personally, I would congratulate Hiram, the Terrors--ah, Terriers, if they beat Wabash in the next few years.
On another note:  over on the Pick-ems board, Wally mentioned that his point spread was destroyed because of a H-SC botched punt  for a safety in a critical situation late in the game v. Christopher Newport.  Recall the animated discussion last week here about the wisdom/folly, white flag v. prudent decision to quick kick on third down from deep in Wabash territory.  Inexperienced snapper (never started a game before Wabash), or perhaps bobbled, mishandled snap by the kicker resulting in a safety this week.  I'm guessing that H-SC did not intentionally take the safety; hope I'm correct.  Puts a somewhat different slant on the H-SC decision to quick kick on 3rd down, which resulted in a +49-yard turn around for H-SC.  Just saying, that maybe this is another check mark in defense of the quick kick v. the potential for a big gain on 3rd down, or a good Wabash defensive play, and a 4th down punt from the end zone.

Over on the Pick-ems board Wally mentioned that it was raining on Saturday and that both teams were careful with long snaps.  That's a helpful comment.  Still, I think that the quick kick was a prudent call given the two consecutive sacks and field position and Nance's proficiency with the quick kick.  I also respect the opposite point of view about trying one more play on third down (with the remote, though real, possibility of great or some success) and then punting, if necessary.  As it turned out, H-SC gained a +49-yard advantage v. a myriad of other, less positive, outcomes.  Now, although there may be continuing comment, I rest my case and will let the jury decide.

The league is a better place when everyone has a chance against everyone.

If you recall, when Oberlin beat Wabash in 2012 - it was high praise for the Yeomen and lament that the LG's didn't play better. I'm sure if Hiram, or someone else, beats Wabash it will be the same reaction. It's only visceral against the New Tigers or the Old Tigers...

I think the Terriers have a better shot at the upset in a shoot out. I don't think our defense is mature enough as a whole just yet. Though Weaver and Lemuel had EXCEPTIONAL games, I still don't know if we are gap disciplined enough just yet. We most definitely show promise, however. Lemuel had two Int's a sack and 9 tackles from DE. Great player!

I watched start to finish last night.  Lemuel was awesome.  POTW for sure.
