There have been "C" teams with two losses, SJF last year. North Central in 2012. But they have to get on the board and have RR wins.
North Central had the AQ in 2012.

Deciphering wally's predictions over on the pool C board, it seems a lot is still riding on HSC winning their rivalry game and remaining ranked to move Wabash into the bracket early.

Good points, sigma one.

I recall a couple of years ago looking closer at the Wabash penalty statistics.  What I found interesting, not only did Wabash lead the conference in penalties, but they also ranked dead last in the category of "penalty yardage against by opponents".  In other words, the other teams committed fewer penalties against Wabash than they typically did against their other opponents.  I didn't even know they kept that statistic!  Could have been just a fluke, but I tend to think that there was some compensating going on.

One factor that comes into play here: in blowouts, sometimes the officials all but stop flagging the losing team. I've rarely seen a team down 42-6 get called for holding or pass interference or anything of that sort.  So I'm guessing that's a factor here. Wabash blows out some teams, and the refs pretty much quit throwing flags on Kenyon and Oberlin and whoever for the last 30 minutes.
I was small but made up for it by being slow...

Thanks, SaintsFAN!  The star of that article is the mock bracket, though.  That's a fun, fun looking bracket to me.

Nicely Done, "Wally."  Just hope we see an angry (but controlled) flock on Saturday after screwing the pooch last weekend.  Hate to see all of your diligence rendered moot.  ;)  Cheers!

There is a real chance that the state of Ohio sees four teams make the playoffs this year. Two of which will more than likely get a home game or two in the playoffs.

Who is the fourth?

I think, provided a heavyweight, closely contested matchup from JCU-UMU, that Heidelberg may well sneak in the back door and get an at-large bid. Their only losses have come to the #3 and #6 teams in the country thus far, and they have handled the rest of the OAC with a fair amount of ease.

Teams don't really sneak in the back door in the Division III football playoffs.

Well, honestly, we wouldn't have been able to put that bracket together without you doing selections. I used to do a mock selection process leading into Week 11 but simply don't have time anymore.

I look forward to doing this again!

As Pat said -- your selections were the driving force behind the bracket.  Congrats again.  And yes, that bracket is very intriguing -- the only way it would be better in my eyes would be for Thomas More to have beaten W&J earlier in the year.  But you know..

Hey, you never know- Thomas More might be ranked fifth in the South Saturday night.  There are no rules on that particular list.   :)
