Usee, the difficulty I have with your position is the drastically different paths teams have to the national stage.  If UW-W were in the CCIW, we'd be hearing a whole lot more about UW-O and UW-P and a whole lot less of Wheaton and North Central.

Hmmm, I think we can all agree if UWW was in anyone's conference they would be pretty good.  UWO. UWP? Not so much. Those two are third place in the CCIW this year.  We kind of know that already right? They didn't make the playoffs for a reason. Saying they could beat playoff teams is a useless excercise, it's unprovable.  At least for the CCIW you have some data pts.

As far as Bash vs UWW, I think the LG defense is for real. I have said before I want to see the team that has the people and the scheme to counter the Bash D, and I think UWW has both.   I struggle with how the LGs are going to score pts against Whitewater and I ultimately think their D may get worn down but if they can run the ball as Wally suggests, keeping the D off the field and  fresh,  I think UWW will have their hands full.

Having seen both Wabash and UWW in person this season and UWW multiple times I think it will come down to this.  UWW will not be able to run at will and will need to mix in more passing than normal.  And I believe they will.  Wabsash defense is very good but UWW can play both sides of the ball.  While Wabash can run the ball effectively they weren't overpowering play after play last week (they had some nice big runs but weren't "pounding the rock" drive after drive).  The Wabash passing game is decent but certainly not going to scare UWW.  UWW wins this games because they have equal or better players at most positions, they execute consistently, have solid depth at nearly every position, and can play Wabash man to man straight up.  UWW 35 Wabash 10.

First load of Wabash faithful are now at the Perk, enjoying libations and the sunshine.

It's going to be a great day!  Look for the Wabash flag...

I know Wally talks about data points in his analysis. There are VERY few data points of Wabash beating a strong team.

"Absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence."  - Carl Sagan

Sagan is a hack.

And you are typing out of both sides of your keyboard. When it comes to the two and three WIAC teams, you have a "show me" attitude. When pointed out that Wabash has not proven anything, you quote Sagan.

THIS is hackery of the fullest degree. You can't keep moving the goalposts. Winning a playoff game IS proving something. Being in the playoff mix consistently IS proving something. Being consistently ranked AND talked about as a playoff team year over year and being favored to win a playoff game more often than not IS proving something. It IS the sign of a national program. Wabash isn't a playoff filler.  Witt's not a playoff filler. They're not an MIAA or UMAC team.

You all have lost sight that being playoff contenders year over year over year is pretty special in D3. It's NOT de rigueur for almost every team in D3.

You ARE getting to be like Mt. Union. I had hoped not.

Yawn, pool C is flawed. Yawn, the WIAC is strong top-to-bottom. Yawn, River Falls would beat Wittenberg.

Pool C may be flawed, but it's better than ANY other system D3 has tried and was pretty darn on point this year with competitiveness, much to the chagrin of some posters on the "C" board. I believe that most, if not all, complaints about "C" are "my team or conference didn't get a team into it, WAAAAAAAAAH!"

02Warhawks, we KNOW all about the conference ranklings. We KNOW the bottom of the WIAC is much stronger than the bottom of the NCAC. Of course it is. What is hackery; what is trite; what is downright laziness of the yakker mediot columnist degree is that BECAUSE of this, the transitive property of teams like Oshkosh and Platteville is better than the top teams of most other conferences and would beat most teams still left IN the playoffs.

Confernce rankings take conference as a whole, not individual teams. Yes, UW-SP is probably a better team than Wooster or Ohio Wesleyan or Dension. A Stout or River Falls game against Hiram would be pretty good. What does that say about Wabash vs. Whitewater. Not. A. Damn. Thing. Oshkosh doesn't magically get a pass into the Top 10 because they're a WIAC team.

"Because team X plays in THIS CERTAIN LEAGUE. they are automatically a top team." -  Hackery.

I don't see any UMHB posters saying how good the ASC is because THEY'RE in the league. Same with the NWC. Get off the high horse. I've defended the WIAC more often than not but this is becoming tiresome, already.

My 20-minutes-to-kickoff check in with the stream is proving a choppy experience. Anyone else?

Switched to my phone and it's much better.

Half....

I'll take it... make some adjustments... find our passing game.... we are in it.
Why should you go for it on 4th down?

If Wabash wants to stay in the game it's their offense which needs to come alive. Their defense and special teams are keeping them in the game but the offense hasn't moved the ball really outside of one drive that ended in the fumble.

The adjustments out of half will determine it, UWW always good at those too.

EDIT: I don't know if you saw it bashbrother but there was good video of the 07 blizzard game shown before the game.

I did see that... one of my favorite college football experiences ever....  except for getting beat....   wish I was there today.

Edit: If the Warhawks want to stay in this,  they may want to stop turning the ball over....   ;)  We know what to do with it.

+k for making me laugh!  ;D

Here's to an injury free second half!

Jesus, at this time I think BOTH TEAMS needs to work on hanging onto the ball.
