BashDad

Best wishes to all NCAC teams in action this weekend.
Here's hoping for good safe/i], and successful play for all in the conference.  Some very challenging match-ups, but it needs to start here!

#9 - Sat down with Fincham, put my arm around him and discussed his game plan

#5 - led them to the wrong field...maybe to Southmont H.S. (15 minutes out of town) to show Coach Fincham where I played H.S. ball!

#3 - acted as if I had Tourette's - shouting obsenities the whole way

#2 - started making fun of their uniforms & how weird their "Ws" looked

Very humorous, but I personally liked...

#9...who knows Fincham may have enjoyed the conversation.

#5...you know he does like football history.

#3...Probably you best bet, very hard to concentrate after that.

#2...what is wrong with the "W"?

Tiger Alum,

Glad you liked that, I thought it was pretty funny, especially picturing the scene and knowing how intense Coach Fincham is!

Wally triggered me to watch the 2002 Witt game again.  I had forgot just how good Knott was.  Very accurate, and his biggest asset, his mobility.  Really enjoyed watching Jake play.  The receiving corp was pretty impressive thierselves.  Morris could really run.  The D was outstanding with the likes of Boulias, Fanelli, Hammer, & Johnson, but the guy I had forgot about was Connor Kuba.  He could flat play.  To bad he got hurt.

How impressive was John Hauser.  He might be one of the best DB to ever play in the NCAC.  Goldsberry was just a stud.  Greg Cornett not only could play, but a true gentleman.  When walking to the locker room took the time to congratulate some Lil Giants that were standing next to the bus's.  Daniel Grove had a great day, to bad for the Tigers he got hurt late.

Enough of the reminising.  Here hoping the 2005 Lil Giants have a better year than the 2002 Lil Giants.

BB765,

How sweet was Boulais' stop on Witt's 2nd play in OT!  They got about 7 on a QB draw setting up 2nd and short and didn't make the first down.

Goldsbury was downright nasty.  Grove broke his foot in that game too.

Last remark, how nice was Knott's check out to Summers for 86 yard TD???  Let's hope Summers has a bunch of those this year.

good reports coming out of the Wooster practices this week...bumps and bruises behind us and offensive timing improved...cant wait for sat night...

That was an outstanding game by two truly great teams.  Witt goes up 14-0 in the first quarter on a huge Grove run and an interception return for a TD...the rout was almost certainly on.  Then Wabash scores 28 straight points and goes up big...Wabash ends up with a 43-26 lead in the fourth quarter.  The game was over.  Except Witt somehow figures out how to move the ball again and rips off 17 points to tie the game late in the 4th!  Witt had a chance to win but got picked off.  Wabash had a chance with a hail mary at the end of regulation that got behind the defense and landed at Clifton's feet...crazy finish.  Then the OT...Witt gets the ball first.  Boulais makes an insane tackle on an inside screen on 3rd and 3 to force Witt to kick and miss.  Then Jake runs the draw for 11 yards and it was all over at that point.  Amazing, amazing game.

There's a reason why this website tabbed that game as the 2002 game of the year.

Wooster has transformed from:  concerns, 4 for 23 passing, inexperienced WRs, passing inaccuracies, and no "fire" to suddenly..."timing is down, ready to roll, we will kill, and Sutton is back."

Wally - can I change my Wooster pick?   ;D

wally_wabash

The reports from Wooster before their scrimmage last week were largely positive as well...we'll see how much Wooster has fixed since last Saturday on the 3rd.  I'm pulling for Wooster to win and win big, but my hunch tells me that the Scots might be in for 3-4 weeks of struggle city.

BashBacker#16, please dont put words in our mouth...offensive timing improved...Sutton is back as a coach...some Wallys are better than others i guess...but hey, we know that Wabash fights...

Actually,

WABASH ALWAYS FIGHTS!

But thanks for noticing, Scotty.

Scotty,

You will learn soon that the Wabash is the only team in this conference that has any reason to be optimistic this year and every year.

Comments in recent days like "Defense won't be a problem this year" when a Witt offense that returns nearly everybody pummeled them last year, are a great example.  And should I forget the Justin Schaffer show in Crawfordsville last year after all we heard leading up to the game was how he couldn't play.

Another, "rebuilding for a decade" jab at team that defeated them a mere couple years ago.

I warn you, its just a start of what we have to look forward too.

scotty

lancer98, thanks for the update...guess im naive thinking that football fans are open minded...sort of reinforces why we picked Wooster...looking forward to these season as my son made the travel squad...

Lancer,

The problem with the conference is that only five teams EVER have any reason to be optimistic entering the season.  Wabash just happens to be one of them.  Sorry if that displeases you.

No doubt a few of the alums are "over the top" with their enthusiasm.  So what?  Certainly the Wooster posters could be accused of the same.  If you want to cast your lot with everyone that plays Wabash, then that's your prerogative.  Have fun with it.  I would only ask that some of your posts include constructive, original thoughts rather than derogatory comments.

For what it's worth, I think Schafer would look good in Scarlet and White, but we'll have to do the best with what we've got.  Hopefully it will be good enough.  If not, I'll still cheer for Wabash, and hope for better next year.  I assume you will do the same for whoever it is you follow.

Good luck, and may the best team win.

scotty

wabashcpa, my concern was only with one of your faithful putting words in our mouth...from what ive been told, that is not what a wally would do...my only point...
