Wabash's NCAA statistical ranking summary.

Wabash D's ranking highlights
Rushing defense: #1 in the country
Scoring defense: #3 (behind Mt Union and Trinity (Conn.))
Sacks: #2 (behind Whitworth)
Total tackles for loss: #4
Passes intercepted: #4
Total defense: #2 (behind Mt. Union)

Mount Union might not give up a point until December.  The 2015 OAC stinks.  I said it.

Wabash has four players in the top 30 nationally for sacks: Karns, Ludwig, Buresh, McCullen.

We still don't know the ceiling on this team.

One does wonder how that schedule will prepare UMU for the playoffs.  I don't recall a bigger gap between UMU and the #2 team in the OAC.
Long shall we sing thy praises, Old Wabash

Congrats on the big win. Evidently, HSC got manhandled by a really good team. Wish you guys well for the remainder of the season. Stay healthy, continue to improve and make some noise in Nov., hopefully into Dec.

Thanks, but I didn't do anything.  I just showed up and yelled a little bit.   :)  That win is all about the players and the coaches. They crushed it on Saturday- the rest of us just got to watch.

Likewise, good luck to your Tigers in conference play.  They've looked good in two games since the opener.  Keep that up, get regionally ranked, and maybe help Wabash stay home for a few rounds!

The gap between 1 and 2 in the NCAC looks to be about 28 points.  Wabash needs to stay healthy and not get confused by their stats over the next 7 weeks.  Meaning the LGs' best opponent is yet to be scheduled.  Wally you say MU may no give up a point.  I'm wondering if Wabash is going to allow a net 1 yard rushing!

I've voiced this concern a couple times already.  It's a real concern.  But there's definitely been wider gaps in the past.  There were a couple years where Ott or Cap was 2nd where it was really bad.  The OAC is down this year though. No question.

Going off topic a bit - I know we have more than a few lawyers who check this regularly.  I see this site's top 25 poll has two first place votes going to Mt Union and two going to Linfield.  Given Whitewater's dominance of the previous two Stagg Bowls and their victory against Morningside, I'm having a very hard time coming up with a rational argument on why Mt. Union or Linfield (especially Linfield) deserves any first place votes.  Can anyone make one?  I could have made a decent argument in the preseason poll given the major coaching change up there.  But now?

I think you could still have some questions about UWW's whole-ness in 2015.  The pass offense (minus Kumerow and Finco, new QB) appears clearly less than what it was last year.  Morningside also had more success in their own pass game vs. UWW than we usually see.  I think a voter could see those things and believe that Linfield or Mount Union may be better teams.  And UWW won a game in a set of environmental conditions that pretty much everybody covering the game agreed was more detrimental to Morningside than it was to UWW.  And I don't think everybody necessarily thinks that Morningside is necessarily better than the rest of D-III (I'd say they compare favorably to top 10-ish teams, but not demonstrably better than that group of teams).

If I had a vote it would have gone elsewhere before this last week.  I would have changed it to UWW this week because that's the best on-field result amongst the top teams this year.  But I think it's fair for a voter who has been on Linfield or UMU to have watched that game and think that either of those teams could have also won the game.

Congrats to CB Brian Parks for being named to the D3Football.com Team of the week.    His effort on Saturday was tremendous.

Saw most of the game before I had to run to the CWU game. It's a pleasant day when Wabash beats Witt. It's a tremendous day when Wabash CRUSHES them!

BTW, BashDad, nice interview at halftime! A gentleman and a scholar! (And a hell of a QB, too...)

Also, one wonders what a player like Chris Ings could have done in a read-option offense...

Thanks! Was fun to be included. Hat tip to BashBro for making that happen.

From as best as I can tell - Hiram has never been the opponent at Wabash's homecoming before.  I sure hope somebody warns the Terrier fans what they are in for at halftime.

Wally - thank you for resisting the temptation to make the winner of the homecoming "queen" contest the tiebreaker.

Nah, that's too easy.  I think Phi Psi is generally about a -300 on the money line for that contest despite very rarely being the most, shall we say, entertaining queen.

Aside from halftime, this is probably a good time to make the annual announcement that Wabash has never lost a Homecoming game since I was rung in in 1996.  Hiram is about to make an even 20 on the ol' Homecoming weekend win streak.
