Putting aside my obvious disappointment from today's result, I'm extremely proud of this Thomas More team and the senior class.  I think people saw today that there is a legit Top 10 program in KY and they also saw that WAF is something Wabash lives.  As I just told my friend on staff for the LG's, I'm a Wabash fan the rest of the year.

That said here are my less than humble thoughts:

*had a bad feeling about that blocked XPT in the 1st Quarter and I believe not having that 28th point changed the game late in the 4th Quarter.

*Zurek was as good as people were saying he'd be.  He runs hard.

*that Wabash D came alive in the 2nd half and pitched a shutout that nobody saw coming.  I really thought it was game over when Kuntz entered the game.  He's been incredible all year in that role.  I didn't feel that we were done at 27 points.  Again, hats off to the Wabash Defense.

*the Thomas More D did what they've done all season:  hard hitting and forcing what should've been game-changing turnovers.  Ian Gunn was maybe the smallest player on the field and had two FF's.

*i thought running down the clock took away the edge the offense had played with all year.

*shame to see Gebhardt go down with that injury.  I think the guys on this team will always wonder what if about that.

This team has nothing to be ashamed of.  It was the tale of two halves (and a possession in OT) and they got beat in a game they weren't supposed to win, by a very good team.

Best of luck up in Minneapolis - I think you have the team to win that game.  Now, you've been hardened by a barn burner of a game.  I think it will help the Lil Giants.

Great come back and win for Wabash.  I know a lot of the folks in the Mount Union Dom Capers press box were pulling for them.

So do they always allow the driver to deliver pizzas in the middle of the game???

I just watched the 2nd most exciting game of the day!  ND and Stanford. Congrats to Wabash on a great win, I watched the entire on my iPad riding to family. Game was not over when we arrived. I stayed in the car to watch the spectacular ending. Good luck next week.

Ballgame's in St. Paul fellas. Also saw the official Wabash release made the same mistake.  This is serious stuff up here. Think East Berlin/West Berlin, New York/Newark, San Francisco/Oakland, Pawnee/Eagleton.

Jim Amidon was a mentor to me when I was writing for the Bachelor as a student. It's great getting to hear him call these games since I only see him about once every 5 years or so for Big Bash. I know few people who love Wabash as much as Jim and the excitement in his voice was just awesome to hear. I will never forget that play call.

I also think Ethan, BJ , and ER should make him screaming their names their phone ringers. I know I would.  ;)

Almost glad Wabash is on the road this week. I don't think poor Jim's voice could survive another game like that. They said on the telecast that some 12,000 had viewed the Albion game. Wonder how many were watching that one. Wow.

Anybody know the viewing situation with St. Thomas? I would assume that with their fan base they'd have the bandwidth to cover this.

In my defense, I was going to be flying into Minneapolis.  I know it's MSP, but I call it all Minneapolis.

Horrible day - both of my teams lost on the last play in each game.

Major props to the LG's for second half adjustments and the perseverance to play through some adversity.  Had to leave the video stream when it was 20-10 (after the punt return TD I think) and, honestly, it didn't look good at that point.

Looking at the final 8, they are in some heady company, D3 royalty if you will.  Pretty darned impressive.  Great job, guys.

It's a well-done, HD broadcast that is usually linked to the professional radio broadcast - I think you will be impressed.

Good.  Sounds like we'll be able to clearly see this game.  With the similar styles, this game should be a dandy.  Hopefully the stream is ready for the amount of traffic it's about to host.

firstdown

Great ending to the game on Saturday.  Tyler's strip and Buresh's run back of the fumble in overtime was featured on ESPN Sports Center as on the plays of the day.  I am glad to see D3 and  the LG's getting some national recognition.   ;D

Congrats to Thomas More, you played a great game.  It was a hard on to lose.  Saturday was truly "sudden death" as it was all over in an instant when Buresh crossed the goal line.

Good luck to the Wabash on Saturday in St. Paul with St. Thomas.  The Tommies have a very good team and Saturday will be a true challenge.  Seems like we have been playing a lots of Saints lately - St Thomas More, St. Thomas in St Paul.  Many of this year's LG players saw action against UWW last year and understand that they have a mountain to climb on Saturday against another of the great "Purple" teams.

wally_wabash

I know they identified McCullen on the broadcast as having forced that fumble, but it was actually LV Bowden off the edge that knocked it loose.  :)
