Blast!  I'm on the east coast this weekend and will be watching remotely.  Hope you have a good time in Delaware, cave.

OWU beating DePauw brings up a rather interesting (if unlikely) scenario...

It was easy to write off OWU after that 1-3 start, but the UMHB game is basically a wash since anyone loses that, they might not have totally recovered their confidence by week 2 so they still took it on the chin from Witt, and losing 21-14 at Denison looks quite respectable given how the season is playing out in the NCAC.

If OWU's big win over DePauw indicates that they now totally have it all humming after some early stumbles, and the sky-is-falling Wabashians on here are right that the LG's stand on the brink of oblivion...an OWU win would bring some very, very, very interesting scenarios into play for the league title picture, especially if DePauw can pick themselves off the ground and beat Denison.

- Denison is currently 6-0 but has DePauw this week and Wabash the next
- Wittenberg is currently 5-1 and has nobody left that should threaten them (Kenyon has been plucky, but not that plucky)
- Wabash is currently 5-1 with OWU, Denison, and DePauw left to play
- OWU is currently 4-2 in league play, with Wabash this week but likely to win out from there
- DePauw is currently 4-2 in the league with Denison and Wabash left to play

Witt is probably in the best position, having already played all the other contenders and being essentially in the clubhouse at 8-1 (sorry, Oberlin/Kenyon/Allegheny).  The two-loss teams are all toast unless Witt would drop one.  But if they would, hoo boy, look at the slew of fun games in the next couple weeks that could be part of this story.  OWU and DePauw can still have their say yet.  Only Denison is truly in control of their destiny; they can even afford 1 loss, I think, since they have a H2H win over Witt in their pocket.  This only gets real messy if Denison takes 2 losses and Witt gets upset, but if they do, it gets real messy.

The NCAC turned into a back-loaded schedule for the most part, and that makes it real fun, or excruciating...

Odds for Pool A bid going forward:

Witt - 61.56%
Denison - 31.25%
Wabash - 6.99%
DePauw - 0.15%
OWU - 0.05%

Probably not going to get too messy.

Probably not, I agree.

(I'm a statistician by training and by day, so I fully appreciate the probabilities)

Just pointing out that Denison / Wittenberg are not quite home free just yet, and that even OWU and DePauw still have a pulse with a favorable string of results, which means the next few weeks of NCAC football will be interesting.

Denison currently holds the advantage and would clinch with two straight wins.

If Denison stumbles in both of the next two weeks against DPU and Wabash, Wittenberg is back on top of the pile.

Things only get really crazy if Denison loses to DPU/Wabash and Witt gets upset.  That would bring all sorts of fun stuff back into play.

Here's a fun thing- no matter what the results are this weekend, next weekend Denison is going to host Wabash for what will be Denison's ticket to the dance (unless they lose to Kenyon).  Biggest game in Denison history in 30 years.  Nobody should be sleeping on this.

Anyone out there planning to be at the OWU/Wabash game at Selby on Saturday?
If I don't make it to Hiram this weekend then OWU looks like the place to be.

Believe it was complications from having lodged his foot in Witt's hindquarters.  Unofficial speculation.
