  You don't know the handshake.

Any chance we get in on the handshake?  That way if any of us are ever stranded in C'ville, we can at least get room for the night? (obscure movie quote)

But yeah, Wally's right, I'd rather have it at the beginning than as an intermission.  Like watching Lost vs. Alias this past year.

Lost was tons better, but Alias was cool too because all the episodes were in a row.  Despite the mediocre story line this past season, Alias seemed back in the saddle because all the episodes were bang-bang-bang.  The story in Lost was amazing, but I know people who didn't stick with it because of all the interspersed repeats.

So, you see, if they showed Lost all in a row, the fans of the show would begin to show a similar religious fervor about the show as Wabash fans show about our team.  And our history and traditions.  Which you cannot possibly understand....like what's in the hatch on Lost.

See how I brought that all together at the end?

I could try to teach you, but I doubt you'd be limp-wristed enough to pass for one of us super-gay all-male school types...(figured that I'd get that out of the way before one of the other sterling wits around here came up with it)

I am really glad you brought your firt comment back to football; for I have never watched Lost or Alias....so I was really confused.

And for you second post...no comment!!  8)

Did you guys know that Alias' star Jennifer Garner is a Denison grad!!!  How hot is she???

Tiger Alum - heading over to film (oops, I mean watch) the Cap/Witt game, where should I set up my tripod?  Just kidding, I would love to see that game though.  Go Tigers!!!

Wally - you should go check out the Dannies vs. Wesley tomorrow.  Wesley's RB is 5'3" 170 and rushed for a boat load last year.  Also heard they have a DE that is an NFL-prospect.  GO WESLEY!!!

wally_wabash

DePauw vs. Wesley is one of the more intriguing matchups tomorrow.  I'm curious to see how DePauw comes out of the gate with Rogers this year.  If they're going to be legit at all this year, they have to be able to beat Wesley at home one would think.

I'm not going to be able to travel for football this weekend...if I could I'd be up in Wheaton for sure.  DePauw/Wesley would be a good alternative though.

For real?  Denison?  Wow, go Big Red.  She's got a bit of a man-chin, but yeah, she's generally smoking.

Wally, weren't you one of the guys that flew off the handle when the Meadville Tribune made this reference to Allegheny's defense, claiming it was a selective stat (lowest ppg).  Just find it funny that you turn around and say the same thing about your own D.  Hey, I have no problem with you feeling that way about your own team, but don't act like its high crime when someone else does the same.  I don't care if it's a news source.  If they have a stat like that one, they have all the right they need to make that reference.  It's a hometown paper, so it's pretty much preaching to the choir anyway.

Well if you can manage to get in the press box, you've got the best filming location...oops I mean seat in the house....Unfortunately unless you can photoshop yourself a press pass, you will have to sit on home side stands.  As mentioned in an earlier post, no visitors stands, and they haven't started on the 2nd tier of the home side (supposed to have been completed back when I played).  But look on the bright side...brand new turf.

Is anyone here going to see the Witt, Cap game tomorrow?

Vince McMahon

and just so you know, I'm not trying to reignite an old fire. I just couldn't help myself after reading that statement.  I'm prepared to keep mum about it from here on.

wally_wabash

I did fly off the handle because the clown from the Meadville Trib was undeniably wrong.  Here's what I know about Wabash's defense from '04:

Scoring defense: 16.0 ppg (1st in the NCAC)
Pass defense: 131.7 ypg (1st in the NCAC)
Rush defense: 132.1 ypg (2nd in the NCAC)
Total defense: 263.8 ypg (1st in the NCAC)

Wabash was unquestionably the best defense in the conference last year.  Wabash returns 9 starters on defense.  So when I say "Wabash returns just about everybody from the NCAC's best defense in '04" I'm right.  It's got nothing to do with how I feel about my team...it's fact.

Perhaps it's best if you do stay mum if you're not going to bother to have a clue about what you're talking about.

Wally, O king of journalistic ethics and NCAC football, I will stay mum on that topic, and in the future I'll dedicate myself to pinching your pressure points just a little harder.  Somehow I think you're going to have a heart attack one day from getting worked up over someone else's enthusiasm for an upcoming season.  I'll write a note to the Tribune for you and make sure they remember to praise Wabash first anytime they write about the Gator defense.

If any of you are stranded in C'ville you can stay in my office.  If you're nice I may even let you borrow the key to the bathroom. :)

Of course, I may put you to work...

wally, remember what Lou Holtz said about statistics...it"s when a drunk uses a lamppost...not as much for illumation as for balance...

Praise the Gator defense all you want, just don't claim they were the best defense in the conference last year...because they weren't.  Allegheny had, in every statistical category, the third best defense in the conference last year.  If you want to say that Allegheny had the best scoring defense of any NCAC team excluding all non-conference games, then go ahead and say that, but don't say that they had the best defense because it just isn't true.  This isn't a Wabash thing, this a truth thing.

And just so that you can't come back at me and say something to the effect of "you Wabash guys just can't let anybody else think they have a good team" or some such garbage, I will go on record as saying that Allegheny has a very good defense and they have every reason to be enthusiastic about the upcoming season.  BUT they do not return the conference's best defense...that is simply wrong.  They might end up with the best defense this season, but they were not the best defense in '04 and saying otherwise is ignorant.

I'm not sure how credible Lou Holtz is after trashing his last two football programs.....
