To be fair, Wabash has had a D-I transfer that I know of...I believe former WR Brandon Clifton was at Toledo for about 45 minutes before transferring into Wabash.  It's a little different than picking up kids who have been in a D-I program for a full year or two, but technically is still a D-I transfer.

scotty....was just busting your chops a little.  Tinsley had a couple of good games up front last year.  I believe he was over 100 yards with touchdowns in each of the first two games then he took a backseat to about four other guys.  Kind of a strange situation there.

Don't know too much about Collins, but here is a picture of him signing his letter of intent with Tennessee-Martin, with his Mom crying.

He is listed at 6-1, 170, so I imagine he must have some quickness to have been given a scholarship at that size.

Tinsley quit during the season

Wabash also has a stud TE coming from Castle High School in Indiana.  6'5" and around 230-240 lbs I believe.  Had several div I and II scholarships.

fijidoc,

I'm not doubting what you are saying, but why would someone turn down a Div. I scholarship to play Div. III football?

scotty

seinfeld, maybe he didn't like the night life in Alliance ;)

Why would a kid transfer from an Ivy to play football at Witt?  It's rare that a kid would turn down a scholly for D-III, but it happens.  Lots of reasons why it could happen...better academics (there are a handful of kids out there who are concerned about that aspect of their college experience), the chance to play sooner (or at all).  That's just a couple of reasons.  There are probably scores more that you could think of if you really wanted to.

Ivy doesn't give scholarships.

I guess I can only speak from my perspective, but if you were actually offered a full-ride to play Div. I football, you are pretty crazy to turn it down. If you were actually offered a scholarship versus walking on, then they think pretty highly of you and you would have a chance to play fairly soon. Not to mention the drastic difference in the level of competition.

It's one thing to pass up the "preferred walk-on" option, it's completely another thing to turn down a full ride.

And while the NCAC schools are better academically than most Div. I schools, if you are a good student, you can find the challenges academically that you need at any Div. I school.

Does anyone know of a single NCAC player who actually turned down a Div. I scholarship? Not a Div. IAA scholarship, Div. II or NAIA scholarship, but an actual Div. I scholarship? Tony Sutton, who in my opinion was probably the most dominant player in NCAC history, didn't even get a Div. I scholarship offer.

has wabash released their incoming class yet?

Suggesting Sanchez is an inadequate thrower is unfair.  Just because he played WR some and ran for 1,000 doesn't mean he can't throw.  He approached 2,000 yds in the air last year, and that was without his #1 receiver (Shoemaker-out with a broken leg for 9.5 games) and a bunch of 1st and 2nd year receivers.  He just might be the best QB in the league next year.

tigerdadplm, didn't know that they were being held...the Little Giants play it close to the vest...btw, check on the Indiana Gridiron Digest...

seinfeld, the marching band can only go so far...

Sanchez probably isn't the best returning quarterback in the league, let alone the best quarterback.  I'd stick him somewhere behind Rummell and Shafer as far as returning qb's go, I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a couple of new starters outperform Sanchez in '06.  Based on his '05 numbers, Sanchez looks like a guy who is best described as a running back that throws rather than a quarterback that can run.

To my knowledge, Wabash doesn't release an official list of incoming recruits.

Ivy doesn't give scholarships, yes, but Witt doesn't give an Ivy education.  The point is that leaving an Ivy for Witt makes about as much sense to most people as turning down a football scholarship to play D-III.  Sutton bailed on his D-II scholarship to play at Wooster...why?  Because he wanted to.  It's that simple and there doesn't need to be any further explanation.  Murray transferred to Witt because he wanted to.  Whoever this recruit is for Wabash turned down the alleged scholarship offer because he wanted to.  It doesn't need to make sense to everybody so long as it makes sense to the student-athlete.

Tigerdad - don't look, it will only make you depressed.   ;D  Don't worry, you landed Dick.  Sorry - that was too easy.

Fijidoc & Seinfeld - regarding the TE, not sure of specific scholarship offers but do know he was #1 in his class  of 395, and wants to pursue Pre-med (a perfect fit).  I don't think he is quite that big though.  I also think he won an NFL scholarship awarded to 1 player in the state - quite an honor.

Ha!  Do we seriously get 4 years of this?  Somebody pinch me.   :D
